I'm taking my girls 8/4 - 8/8 and I would love  to be able to tour without a purse. The only thing I can think I would actually need a bag for, would be ponchos for when it rains.

What are the odds it won't rain, at some point, every single day in August?

My honest answer would be 75%...in the afternoon. We go then and never carry ponchos. Just run between the raindrops or shop when it rains.

Our last trip was 2 days in August. We checked the weather forecast each day before leaving the room. Carried ponchos as needed. Didn't worry about quick showers but the ponchos helped with major rains. It worked out beautifully.

We had a short thunderstorm every afternoon in August 2012. I was glad for my dollar store ponchos! sorry, this wasn't the answer you were looking for. :rotfl:

I think I have about 14 dollar tree ponchos, so having them isn't the issue... I just don't want to be bothered with a bag! But if I have to, I have to... :)

We went in Aug '12 and didnt touch ponchos once. We had a light shower on our way into stunt show and was over by the time we got out. No other rain. Anything could happen with the weather. We went in may '09 and it was the worst weather we had ever seen on any vacation. It was so miserable I tried to rent a car and find a location in Florida to head to that wasnt raining(but it was pretty much the whole state.)

Whatever the odds are on your trip, I hope they hold through to the 11th!

We've been in August a few times. I remember one rainy afternoon in 2011. It was a bit rainy in 2012 but we were only there for 2 days. However, I think somebody at Disney got mad at us for defecting to Sea World for a day and dumped the rain on us there! THAT was terrible.

Okay, now I'm remembering being soaked a few times in 2011. Once leaving Animal Kingdom and once when I made a quick morning trip to DTD. Nothing long though.

I don't know that I'll ever travel without a bag for fear of missing something critical. Everybody makes fun of the big bags I carry in day to day life but nobody complains when I have everything they need whenever they need it. ;)

Well, it is like this . .. August, there is a pretty good chance of an afternoon shower (sometimes they are more like a flood).

However, I find that the 90 degree plus heat, and insane humidity, when combined with a plastic rain poncho, leaves me dripping wet with sweat in about no time flat.

After much investigation, I have come to the conclusion that dripping wet with sweat ALWAYS smells FAR worse than dripping wet with rain water :lmao:

Therefore, I don't bother with the ponchos. Either way I'm going to get wet, and at least the rain water doesn't make me smell (more) offensive. The positive, about 15 minutes after the storm ends, you will be back to your normal state of sweaty sort of damp, not really dry, but not really soaked, so it doesn't really matter anyhow.
