Going for my birthday in September with partner!

Hey all,

I used to be on here back in 07. So happy they have a gay board now! My partner and I are going in September! We will be there during my 25th birthday. Im so excited. Mostly because he has never been--so I feel truly lucky to be with him to experience WDW for the first time. It will also be my first time since being a kid staying on the property-- at the Dolphin. I plan on buying some new trivia/Disney books to get my head in gear as Im a bit of a Disney nerd! I had a few questions for you all!

1. Has anyone else gone in late September? How's the weather/crowds?
2. Anyone have any good personal reviews of the Dolphin?
3. I have an old Queens of the Kingdom book from 07 and also Secrets of WDW from 09. Was wondering if any of you had any recent WDW book you could recommend?
4. What is the most special thing you've done with your partner at WDW? Like a great memory or moment.
5. He's the more "butch" of us and identifies with more typical "guy" things-- so I definitely want to do something with him that doesn't revolve around Princesses as that would be my thing ! Any suggestions?

Welcome back! I was just at the Swan (sister hotel to the Dolphin) a few weeks ago. Both hotels are wonderful and if you are lucky and get a corner room you might be able to see fireworks from both DHS and Epcot! As far as "romantic" things we did that I can post: rented Swan boat and paddled along the lake, dinner at Flying Fish (although for some reason I think it's called something else) and watched fireworks, outlet shopping ( a passion for us both), and just relaxing. Actually went to the pool this trip - fun, but many many children! Late Sept will still be warm/hot, but crowds much better (I believe Mickey's Halloween Event starts end of Sept so that could be fun for you both if you are there then). Just my 2 cents!

I like Birnbaum's Walt Disney World Without Kids book; I also like their Dining Guide. Consider the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian - it's pricy, but amazingly special. (If you choose to do it, you will need to pack jackets and ties; it's the only truly formal restaurant on Disney Property.) As far as "guy things," be sure you get him to the roller coasters. Depending on finances, if he's into cars and/or going fast, consider getting him a package at the Petty Speedway. Also, Universal has a lot more thrill rides than Disney; it's worth a day.

(BTW, my BF and I are also New Yorkers, and always happy to make new friends, especially ones who share my Disney obsession...)

I hope you have a great time. My partner and I will be taking my kids for our first visit ever on August 29th. She is sad because the day we leave is her bday. I told her to consider herself lucky that she gets to spend at least part of her bday at Disney, mine is a few days later.

Since we haven't been yet I don't have much info for you. I think the weather is still quite hot at the end of September, so I have read. Not that I would know, I live in Canada!

If you can swing it financially - one of the fireworks cruises.

MK for sure! Epcot not so much, there are much better places to view the fireworks for free....
