It's my first one. I was going to wait until after we go on our Caribbean trip in two weeks but they told me they had an appt today. I just took it to get it over with.

I'm scared to death right now!!:sad2:

I understand your apprehension and anxiety, the test itself is not that bad, nor usually that long....maybe bring a favorite magazine or book, heck even your journal if you keep one, you will need to wait after the exam fof initial results and it can take a little while. I found my imagination running wild, so I learned to bring anything that might help distract me.
I have never had a tech who was not pleasant and that is also a help. Ask any questions you may have during the exam, talk to the tech, tell them you have anxiety...all of that can help you get through it just fine. Tell them about your upcoming cruise, or just focus on it yourself...feeling this way right now is pretty normal for MANY women, so do not put any extra pressure on yourself, feelproud that you are being proactivein your health and setting a good example to others!
I hope you have a fab time on your cruise!

Fear not!!! It happens to all of us. We go to our gyn and he/she says, "you've reached the age where it is time to get a mammogram." What! I'm not that old am I? Apparently so.

The test itself is really nothing. A tad uncomfortable but very short lived. There's nothing to be petrified about. Just know that millions upon millions of women have gone through the same thing.

I think I'm more petrified about the results. :sad1: I'm just scared of having cancer again.

It's not so bad plus you'll feel good getting it behind you. Hang in there!

Oh Shelby, I wish I could go and hold your hand. I hope you get the best answers possible. "You got the right stuff, baby";)

Well I was going to post about it not being so bad. I was quite nervous when I had mine earlier this year. And it wasn't as bad as I thought. But after reading your last post I can see whey you are petrified.

Think positive thoughts. Think about your cruise.

You're obviously a strong woman and can get through anything.

Sending happy thoughts for an easy "squish".:upsidedow

I have had one. not a big deal to me at all. Now getting me to the regular doctor to even get the refferal to get one is another story....
And getting my teeth cleaned, well lets just say they have had to chase me down in the parking lot after I fled. :rotfl:
A mammogram doesn't even rank in my top ten list of things to worry about. And my mom is a breast cancer survivor, so I should be more concerned.

Thanks. Your post made me laugh, thanks for the New Kids reference. :lmao:

Thanks to all of you! I appreciate it. I'm just glad I'm getting it taken care of asap. What a fun couple weeks it's been. First the colonoscopy, then the ob/gyn, now the mammogram, next week it's the dentist and my gynecological oncologist. And it's my birthday on Saturday. I sure know how to celebrate don't I????

Thanks again everyone!!!

Shelby

Thanks, everything went well!
