I just booked the week of March 21-27 at the Pop Century with just myself and dd6. Daddy is taking the week off and he and ds8 are doing a bunch of planned guy stuff together, while dd and I go to Disney.

What blows my mind is ds has NO interest in Disney, but is positively ecstatic that he and dh are going to go to Harvard museum of natural history, New England Aquarium, Science museum etc.

Dd and I I'm sure will do the princess stuff.

I haven't been with just one child since dd 18 was an only child.

What are some special things I can do with her? Should we do the planning together?

I had a savannah view at the AKL booked but she really wanted to stay near the "Hippy Dippy Pool" (per the pics) At a difference of $1300 cheaper for the week, who was I to argue??? I got a preferred room for $88/night with my annual pass discount.

We arrive on a Sunday and leave on Saturday. Will I have a hard time filling all that time with just two of us? Is the third week of March a little on the crowded side?

I'm so excited and so is dd. I'm also thrilled to learn that the Flower and Garden festival will be going on!!!

I've gotten spoiled staying at the Deluxe resorts but I think with good planning, even if crowded, we should be ok. Dd is an early bird big time (unlike her mom1) so I guess we should make use of those mornings!

My dd & I did a trip alone last Feb when she was 6...you will LOVE it! Some of the favorite things we did were to BOTH get our faces painted and our hair done at the Barber Shop. She still talks about how fun it was and we have Great pictures too. One night instead of dinner we went to Ghirardellis in DTD and had Giant brownie sundaes for dessert, she thought it was sooo cool that we were having dessert for dinner).

I would let her do alot of the planning with you, this way she is really excited and feels a part of the experience. DD loved doing her passport and Kim Possibles at Epcot and had a great time collecting pressed pennies as well. I surprised her with a pin lanyard and 10 pins for her to trade during the trip as well. She had lots of fun speaking with the cm's and trading around the world.

Most of all, have fun and soak it all in.

Sounds like you had a ball!! What are Kim Possibles??

Smart switch to the POP Century. My DD loves its and the extra cash saved allows for extra character meals.

You guys will have a great time, and I understand about DS not wanting to go. I only have 1 child, but we spend a lot of time with my 13yr old niece and he told me that I can take her on the Oct trip that I'm hoping to plan because he would rather stay home. What's up with these boys?:confused3:)

Why don't you guys get a makeover at BBB? She can go all out and get the dress, and you can get your hair, nails, and makeup done. She'll probably love seeing you dressed up!

Has she seen Cirque de Soleil? That was a highlight of our last trip. You could have a fancy night, get dressed up nice, have dinner in DTD and do the show.

I'm completely shocked! It is only 6 1/2 weeks away and I was able to get all the ADRs I wanted, at ideal times and on the days I want them..in one sitting. This has NEVER happened!

I got:

arrival day dinner: Princess Storybook dining
full day 1: Crystal Palace lunch
full day 2: Cinderella dinner at 1900 park fare
full day 3: cape may cafe character breakfast and flying fish cafe dinner
full day 4: Sci Fi Drive In lunch
full day 5 and last day: Supercalafragilistic breakfast 1900 Park Fare and Dreams Come True Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table

Talk about a girly girl week! I'm beginning to wonder if I should get the dining plan?

Go onto allears.net to check menu prices but I'm pretty sure you will more than break even considering your DD will be about 11 a night (I think) and one dinner costs more than that. Have fun! I'm so excited for the time when I can take my DD on a girly trip (that doesn't involve lugging a stroller).

This SOUNDS wonderful. You girls will have a blast. It looks to be week between your week and Easter so maybe it will not be crazy, We did March once and the weather was nice!!!!

maybe some matching outfits, some girl comfort foods (chocolate) for the room, somewhere to get your nails done???? The afternoon tea???

You got GREAT ressies!! I would think the Dining Plan would be a great value for you. Since dd is under 9 she is only about $10 per day on the plan and you are about $40 which is about the price you will end up paying at alot of the character meals alone & you will still have counter service and snack for each day. We have found the dining plan to be a great value for us.

Kim Possible missions are at Epcot. They have carts where you "sign up" and you get a cell phone that gives you your mission. On the phone it gives you clues and you got to different sections of a country to solve the mission and save the world. It is interactive and the phone activates animatronics, lights etc. There are about 6 missions that you can do (they are each in a different country). You sign up for each mission separately so if you like them you can keep going back for more. My dd loved it!

I just booked for myself, DD 6 and DS 11. I'm going to be calling this our "breaking all the rules" trip. We are going in Summer heat and if we want to we'll have ice cream for dinner. I thought this would be the perfect way to surprise them and have fun right before school starts back. I'm a little nervous going with just me but I'm convinced we'll have a blast. Hope you guys do too!

I took my dd 5 1/2 on a girls only trip in October. We had the best time! We went to bbb, got lots of character autographs, shopped, and did lots of girly things without dh and ds. I hope you have a wonderful trip.
