This is a kinda last minute trip, I scored $10 flights on skybus and decided to do a girls trip with my 5 year old daughter. I got a studio (YEAH! I was hoping something would be available after I bought the tickets.:scared1: ). After that I realized Oh No! My Ap's run out in May. We were not planning on getting new ones until September. Anyway then I started thinking about other things we could do.. We are only going Tuesday (evening) until Friday (afternoon). So I was thinking with the heat maybe skipping the parks and doing water parks and then I thought about doing the universal $86 deal ( I do not know if they have a water part). So I am asking the experts. If you were going alone with a 5yo ( that has been to disney about 8 times) what would you do?

Would it be a terrible tease for a 5 year old to stay on Disney property but not get to go to Disney?!? Now, if it is the Disney water parks and not the theme parks, that would be different. But to completely skip Disney and just do Universal? :sad1: Now, I've never been to Universal, but I doubt it is as magical as WDW!

Why don't you check out Universal online and see what it is like and let your DD decide? If she wants to completely skip WDW then let that be her choice. But I'd involve her in the decision.

Universal is a lot of fun. Islands of Adventure is a little more fantasy like (little more like Disney) then Universal Studios but before planning on going I would check out their site real good to see if there will be enough for your daughter to do. I have a 4 yr old and a 6 yr old and when I looked into it there was not a whole lot that they could do due to height limits. You probably could do everything that can be done at both parks in one day.

Can't really give any advice on the water parks. We are going to be purchasing our first APP's here soon and will be trying them out this summer. Looking at the site though they look like a lot of fun. (my kids love water parks!)

Hope this helps a little. :)

I know there are lots of people that stay on Disney property and do not go to a park (My dad does it all the time). I am not one of those people. It would make me crazy. :rotfl: That said-there are TONS of things you can do and not go into a theme park. The water parks are fun. DTD is fun (they have BBB). And the Lego store.

Universal has Barney (show and indoor playground), Curious George water play area, Woody Woodpecker rollercoaster. Animal Planet show.

IOA has the Dr. Suess area. My DD enjoys the Universal parks, but I don't think we could spend a week there.

I would say-go and enjoy the time with your DD.

I understand it is kid-centric. My younger son would really like to stay there, but I've explained to him that since this is his first WDW trip we will be spending all our time at Disney. He's only 6 so he doesn't really grasp the difference between WDW and DLR yet.

You might look into rooms at Nick and see what they cost. It would be something new for your daughter and make doing Disney less of a temptation!

I would check out Sea World and go to their new waterpark! They have a special on their website where you can get admission to both for 7 days for around $80!

OH! I think that is what I will do... THANKS! Since we really only have 2 days.

BTW, my daughter will not be disappointed by missing disney we go too often, Plus I really do not think she will get that we are missing it because we are having so much fun. Thanks guys!!
