We are taking our god daughter to WDW in February and are not sure what (if any) proof that we are not kidnapping her we may need to take with us :laughing: :rolleyes1

I would guess others have taken friends with them in the past just wondered what the procedure is.

Thanks

We've never done anything specific when taking people from outside the immediate family. If anything they might simply ask at customs what the relationship is. If you really want to cover your back, have the parents sign a document stating that she is under your care for the duration of the trip.

we always take our grandaughter, with us.we never take any proof with us.at check in,they usually ask her,her name & how old she is,never had a problem.
but for your piece of mind,a letter from her parents, can't do any harm,
tracy

Took DS's friend with us at Easter.
There is no official documentation needed.
Only problem we had was taking a Disney cruise. Every time I rang DCL they gave me different info. We were told we would need a notarized letter, looked into it and it was going to cost £70+ but solicitor said ring again a triple check as it was not needed. I rang and spoke to supervisor and she agreed and asked for us to take friends parents photo ID, that would be enough:confused3 when we checked in for the cruise we were not asked for anything.
Immigration or Virgin at both sides of Atlantic never asked us for anything.
Only time it can become a major problem is for emergency treatment (so DCL supervisor told me) they won't give treatment unless they are 100% crtain they have parental consent.
Link below to official info and also link to my website, I have put a constent form on there that we filled in and took.(on left in My Links)

We took my niece a few years ago and no-one questioned anything - we had our family, my niece (different surname) and also my mum (different surname again) and the Customs guy said "oh, it's an extended family trip this one then" and that was all.

I did take a letter from my sister tho in case of emergencies giving her consent to any sort of treatments and her contact numbers just in case but we didn't need it.

Hi;

I always carry the child's medical insurance card or have the numbers
available as well... you just never know
Our last DCL on the Mexican Riviera had my duaghter with a massive
portugese -man-of war jellyfish sting that was quite serious
