We traded to Marriott Ford's Colony in Williamsburg. It was lovely. Beautifully kept grounds, accommodations comparable to DVC. Had a blast in Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown.

I can't help you with your 'Virginia":thumbsup2 question, but just noticed your very low post count. Welcome!:)

Well, typically we stay at our home :rotfl:

I don't know where the timeshares you are looking at are, but I am guessing mostly around Williamsburg. We have stayed on Wyndham property there 3 or 4 times. Williamsburg is very nice and gives you a good historical view of Virginia. Busch Gardens is in Williamsburg and Kings Dominion is nearby.

If you would like to see the natural beauties of VA then you might check out Natural Bridge, Luray Caverns, or the Skyline Drive. You can get a real good deal (not with points though)on lodging within the Shenandoah National Park. The lodging is really quite nice and they have great food.

Ditto what Disdaydreamer said! I think I saw Massanutten Resort was on the list of properties we could exchange for, which is probably where you would want to stay if you wanted to see the natural beauties of our state. I think there is also a water park there, but I'm sure it's not near as nice or elaborate as Water Country, which is in Williamsburg.

A little OT for Disdaydreamer, but hi, neighbor! I'm from the Shenandoah Valley, too!

Do you live by/have you been to the P Buckley Moss gallery? She is my favorite artist, and I would love to visit there someday!!!

I live about 2 miles from her museum. I went to school with several of her children. I'll still never forget doing a science project with one of her daughters in their basement, and Pat was down there painting. To this day, I could shoot myself for not going through her trash can and picking up a few of her cast-offs! :lmao: Of course, this was back in about 1977 or so, before she became internationally famous.

Oh my!!! Wasted opportunity. We bought our first P Buckley Moss print at our DS's school's art aution in 1979. We didn't know anything about her, but we knew we wanted that print...had a little bidding war, Grey Nun Academy was the "winner" on that one!

She's been on my mind because we're going to a wedding back in Yardley and I found a Members Print, "Lovers Ride", and we're having it framed as a present for the couple, and I just said to DH that one of my goals in life is to get to her museum.

I'm doing a recon trip to the Marriott Ford's Colony next month(we're thinking of buying a unit there). I'll let you know. Taking my picky sister, she wants to hit the outlet malls, so between the both of us you should have a "balanced" review. :rotfl:

King's Creek Plantation looks nice also, the 3br LO cottages caught my eye and the resort is right next to the water park.

Now if I were Dean, he would tell you Williamsburg is very over built and you could probably rent a unit cheaper than exchanging your DVC points. The Marriott is probably the closest in quality to DVC and would be my first choice.

We stayed at the Williamsburg marriot this spring. it was very nice and in a great location. By that I mean that it was convienient to all areas yet it was enough out of the way and secluded and quitet. Perfect.
