We are doing a huge family vacation in June and my 13 year old daughter got a GoPro for Christmas. She is planning on filming the vacation and making a memory dvd for everyone. I know selfie sticks are not allowed in the parks, but does anyone have experience with the flotation stick that you can get for the GoPro? It is only about 8 inches long. The camera is so small she prefers to use that when taking pictures. For rides she will have it on a wrist mount. TIA.

Everything is fine except selfie sticks or devices that extend out. A handle is fine

As stated handles are fine my daughter has used that one for a couple years. I actually like handles like that, the loop you can put around your wrist really helps with fast ride videos in case you need to just let the camera dangle to hold on or it slips from your hand.

Also just an FYI. I found that my GoPro's battery would only allow me to shoot for about 60-90 minutes. Depending on which type of GoPro she has, you might want to consider either an extra battery or an external charger (if she has a Hero Session the battery is not removable).

Lots of cool shots can be gotten with these little cameras. In addition to the coasters, we got some really good video at our resort pool and kids on the water slides. Have fun!!!

As long as it doesn't extend. But they still shouldn't be used on rides. Don't be "That Guy" who gets the ride stopped because you want to hold out your GoPro.

Hmm. That's interesting. I asked the CM at several rides about using a GoPro and they all said it was fine. IIRC the only ride that explicitly said "no video recording" was the prerecored message before Soarin'.

GoPros on rides are fine. People use them everyday on rides. As long as you aren't using an extended stick that reaches out then you're fine.

Handle, chest mount, head mount..it's all allowed on rides. It's only on rides where they say no video recording that you're not allowed
