It's an online e-mail account by google. Just like hotmail, yahoo, etc. Its benefit is that it has more storage space. Downside: I haven't given out my address at all - I don't even use the account - and I'm already getting spam. This never happened with my other online accounts. In order to sign up someone has to send you an invite. As soon as you sign up you get to invite 4 others right away.

I love my gmail addy more than my Yahoo.....and I haven't had any spam sent to it at all....just my DIS newsletter and WDW stuff...no spam thank goodness!!!!!! All in all, I love the gmail...!
