Anyone see any potential issues I need to be aware of with any of these? I am GF and so is my 10 year old son but he is a picky eater and will most likely want typical kid food, not adult menu meals.

After reading here I am wondering if I need to pack my own BBQ sauce for WCC and HDDR and maybe some GF waffle syrup. I have seen that those could be potential issues. Ds would hate to eat BBQ without sauce. I guess I would have to pack it in my checked luggage though - that could get messy if it leaks or something. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

For syrup they'll give you 100% pure maple syrup. No problems there unless he doesn't like the real stuff (my 11yo doesn't).
At places where we've ordered ribs, the BBQ sauce has been gluten free including HDDR if I recall. I would think that everybody would use the same BBQ sauce but hopefully others will chime in to share their experiences with BBQ sauce.

Of the places you listed, here's my experiences.
Dinner The Wave - DD13 got sick as in throwing up all night and yes we can definitely tie it back to the Wave. I'd try it again though because the food was wonderful but I also now have a way of finding out which chefs will be working each night and would check with my source (the wife of one of the chefs; sorry I can't share that info) to ensure who's working. I've read many great experiences though.
Lunch Crystal Palace - this one either people love or hate. The chef makes all the difference here. We had a scary experience with the chef offering something I luckily knew to not be safe plus not understanding my concern over cross contamination of items where tongs are clearly shared between a few items. Other people have had absolutely amazing experiences so I may give it another try, maybe.
Dinner LTT - We've only done lunch which was a wonderful experience.
Lunch 50s PT - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the allergy fried chicken. Give them a call the day before or the morning of to let them know you'll be wanting it because without a head's up it can take 45 minutes to prepare.
Dinner Sci-Fi - Just tried it for the first time and we will definitely be back. I'm shocked that it actually beat out 50s PTC for our new DHS favourite.
Breakfast Akershus - We always have a great meal here. Never a bad experience. It's among our favourites for both the food and the princesses.
Dinner Flying Fish - Sorry, never tried it.
Lunch H&V - Ate lunch here once. Wasn't worth the long wait to be seated. The chef did a good job but he was slow and even though he tried to please my kids, he seemed at times a little put out that we wouldn't just grab stuff directly off the buffet when he said they were safe.
Dinner WCC - One of these days I need to try it. It gets good reviews.
Dinner Coral Reef - The chefs to a pretty good job and the food's tasty. The restaurant is just loud and slow and unless you're 1st level or at a railing on the 2nd or 3rd tier then the view isn't very good.
Breakfast Boma - On my must do list when we finally stay at AKL/AKV. Reviews are stellar!
Dinner Narcoossee's - Never tried it.
Breakfast Tusker H - They do a good job here.
Dinner HDDR - We always have a good experience here though I will warn you that they can't make GF fried chicken; it'll be baked or roased. Beans and ribs are GF. One time for dessert we got brownies, the other time we got strawberries and ice cream. Desserts are limitted.
Breakfast Crystal Palace - see above note about CP. We haven't done breakfast. I will note that they don't do Mickey waffles here. The waffles will be frozen Van's waffles. Just be aware.
lunch CRT - The menu is limitted so they don't have nearly as many ingredients to work with as some other restaurants. Make sure there's something on the menu that looks easily modifiable to GF. They likely also have the allergy chicken tenders.

I've only eaten at Boma and Flying Fish off your list (trying CP in Nov). Boma was awesome...chef walked me through the entire line and basically said yes or no. What was nice was he explained what was in the items I couldn't have (so it made me confident in his knowledge). FF was also great. Chef came to the table and went through the entire menu...explained possible substitutes and even offered to create something not on the menu. Both meals were great and would highly recommend for the GF out there!

Thanks everyone. I am sure we will have a great trip and great food. I am a little worried about The Wave though. We really wanted California Grill for that night but it was booked. I am going to keep trying though. It is our first evening and we wanted to eat and then ride the monorail for a while because my son loves it!

do either of you know if the rice treats at WDW are gluten free? PLease tell me they are....We LOVED them last time!

Sci-fi was great. We ate there last time and are returning this trip.

Akerhaus was also good. We would go back, but we were able to get ressies at CRT this time.

LTT was fabulous. So sorry it isn't a character meal any longer. It was our fav!

Crystal Palace, probably just me but, I would not do it again for the character lunch. By the time the chef quickly walked us through the buffet to let us know what the girls could eat, the line was huge. Add to this I was VERY hungry. Then about the time we got to the front of the line to get our food, the characters were closing in on our table, so both DDs had to go see them (and I had to go make pics). Then we got back in line for food....it was by far the most stressful meal of our trip.

We haven't tried your others, but overall WDW is fabulous with GF, and so far we haven't had any reactions...knock on wood. Just plan for things to take a bit longer.

Don't know about the Rice Krispie treats, but I'd love to hear when you find out. I am doubting it sense pretty much any crispy rice cereal is sweetened with barley malt, but I'm holding out hope!

Gosh I'm scared of The Wave now!!!!

I didn't have anything at WCC that needed BBQ sauce, and don't remember whether or not the HDDR ribs had BBQ sauce or not. Sorry! (This is why I should write reviews - so I remember what I ate!) I know for sure that I didn't bring any with me to HDDR. I do bring my own packets of BBQ for counter service restaurants. I love BBQ sauce on my burgers - ketchup just doesn't do the trick for me!

I got 100% maple syrup at POR with no problem. I had no problem at The Wave with my pork entree, but I would try something different next time. Enjoy Narcoosee's! We had a great meal the last 2 times we ate there.

Now I'm craving the baked beans from HDDR. Those were delicious!
