We are currently driving home from our trip so I thought I'd make a few notes about my first GF experiences at Disney. (Don't worry, I'm not driving, lol)
*as a quick disclaimer, I am not Celiac but have a wheat allergy and gluten intolerance...always do your own ingredients check with the chefs and binders at each restaurant.
RAGLAN ROAD- Shepherds pie and GF onion rings were amazing! This was probably my favorite meal the whole trip! Beautiful presentation too.
ERIN MCKENNAS BAKERY- GF donuts were 6 for $20. I hadn't had a donut in over a year and I missed them! Still wish someone would make a cream filled chocolate covered fluffy donut but these cake like donuts were still very good. I also had the thin mint cookie (yummy) and lemon cake. Haha, this was spread out over 8 days in case you are thinking I am quite the pig!
BE OUR GUEST- Pork roast and mashed potatoes were excellent
PINOCCHIO HAUS- GF Caprese pizza. The crust was actually quite good although I had to wait about 20 minutes for this meal. No biggie, but my family was done eating by the time my buzzer went off.
LA CANTINA HACIENDA- Tacos de Barbacoa corn tortillas (3) with rice and beans. I ordered without the salsa and could only eat 2 of the tacos it was a large portion. This was an excellent counter service meal.
PLAZA- steak and cheese in GF bun was wonderful and of course a chocolate milkshake.
FRENCH QUARTER- We stopped here after leaving the park one evening. I was not at all impressed with their counter service. It was confusing and took much longer than it should have. I ordered the baked potato and GF beignets with raspberry sauce. The beignets were yummy but I won't be visiting this restaurant again.
FLAME TREE- Pulled pork without a bun. I forgot to ask but I believe they do have GF buns here. We always eat here. It's a nice place to stop with good food.
SCI-FI- Turkey sandwich on GF wrap. It was good, the fries were better. I also ordered a GF brownie sundae to share with my daughter. I was pleasantly surprised the brownie was soft and tasty!
SANAA- my family ordered the Indian bread service and I got a couple of the GF naan to try. We loved this experience. Excellent food but very pricy. The butter chicken and beef entree was amazing but not worth the $26 price tag in my opinion.
OHANA BREAKFAST- GF Mickey waffles... Need I say more? ;)

If you need to eat GF at Disney, I suggest getting some ideas of what is out there first. I did struggle at HS to find a CS meal I could (and wanted) to eat. I ended up buying a kind bar and some fruit. I used gfinorlando website for some ideas and also follow snorris49 on Instagram which helped me prepare.
Hopefully, this will help give someone some ideas and a place to start when planning their trip!

Thanks for writing this. We are going in August for the first time since my husband was diagnosed with celiac disease. I've been stressing out it. We have Ragland Road reservations.our first night. So glad to hear you liked it so much!

I have Celiac and find that eating in Disney is AWESOME as long as you do research before hand! I've enjoyed meals at Raglan Road, T-REX, The Wave, Ohana, Kona Cafe, The Crystal Palace, Be Our Guest, Mama Melrose, The Hollywood Brown Derby, Flying Fish, Columbia Harbour House, Flame Tree BBQ, La Hacienda de San Angel. The chefs/managers at Disney restaurants are super willing to come speak with you and work with you if you don't see something on the menu that you like. I haven't had any bad experiences yet!

Our last two trips were post-celiac diagnosis for DH, and we have learned he is very sensitive. However, he has not gotten sick at WDW! Glad you had good luck too. We've eaten all over the parks, Coronado Springs, AKL, 1900 Park Fare. The only thing we've generally been wary of are places in the World Showcase b/c some are managed by outside companies, not necessarily with Disney-level allergy awareness training. I've researched those more in depth individually; he's safely eaten at Marrakesh, Spice Road, Tangierine, and whatever the quick service in Germany is called (has gf buns for the sausages).

And OP - we ALL struggle with CS at HS, hahaha!! I know we ate at the ABC commissary and DH had some kind of salad there... and I think he was able to eat a turkey leg two years ago in the Fairfax Fare area, maybe? I have no allergies or restrictions, and I ate my kid's side Caesar salad for dinner once, b/c half the places were already closed and greasy pizza just isn't my thing... not much appealing there, that's for sure.

Yes, I totally agree. HS and Epcot are in my top two for worst parks for finding a decent QS meal. I know people love Sunshine Seasons but that place didn't live up to the hype for me.

Great review! I found it was easier for me to eat worry free at Disney than at home. Tusker House breakfast was great - the chef made me gf Mickey waffles and there was an entire section of gf pastries. The Kinnikinnick cinnamon sugar donuts are super yummy. The chef at H&V made me a warm gf brownie which was delicious. At BOG the chef customized my lunch - the French onion soup is amazing even without the croutons! I also enjoyed the pizza at Pinocchios. The gf Mac and cheese there is the Amy's brand and is actually good enough that I now keep it in my freezer at home :) I also found several options at the F&W festival that were gf and delicious.

Thank you for sharing!! Dining out has been so anxiety-provoking for my DD since her CD diagnosis, but she is getting ready to dine worry-free at WDW!

I just did a gluten free search to find out my number one question...are there gf beignets? I am so happy to see this! Thanks for all the other info as well!

Thanks - DH & DS are both intolerant (DH more than DS). We struggled at HS last time too (contemplating booking two TS meals to make it easier).

Raglan Road is amazing for gluten free. Last August was the first time I went to Disney since my Coeliac disease diagnosis but i was so happy with all my meals and the care and attention the CMs and chefs take of you. We are heading back this August and I can't wait to eat more amazing gluten free food.

Lurpee yes GF beignets at Sassagoula Floatworks at French Quarter are awesome and totally worth the trip!

I'm so thrilled to see this thread. My daughter was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease on Friday. I know Disney is really good with dietary needs but I was still feeling a bit uneasy about our upcoming trip in December. We already have the dining plan and all of our reservations made.

I was the same way. On my first trip after being diagnosed, I was also a bit uneasy.

Now, it is something that I look forward to. It is a culinary adventure.

I juse googled and Sassagoula is closed for refurb for a few months...I'm heading there in the fall. I read that Scat Cat Lounge will have beignets available. Anyone know if they will have GF ones available? And do they need to be ordered in advance or anything? I know I'll wait, but didn't know if they needed additional time.

I follow a blogger (Alexis's Gluten Free Adventures, formerly Gluten Free in Orlando), and I believe she said the gf beignets will be available. Not sure about advance ordering though.

Sassagoula took a couple minutes. I am guessing that they have the dough already mixed.

We've never had to order in advance. I would be surprised if that has changed.
