Hi Everyone,
I know there are many threads and reviews about eating GF at WDW but I haven't seen many reviews about GF cakes at WDW. We are going in about 3 weeks and my DMIL will be celebrating her Birthday while we are there. My son and my Mom will also have had their BDs the week before so we are celebrating it all together.

My questions...
* Should we order 2 separate cakes? One GF for DMIL and one for Mom & DS? or will everyone enjoy the GF cake?

* How much do the cakes cost? If we do 2 six inch cakes - one GF? Are the GF cakes more $?

* We are doing a fireworks cruise during our trip as well. What are the chances of getting the cakes delivered for the cruise?

* We also have 1 TS at LeCellier. Will they do a GF dessert for DMIL or should we have the cake delivered there?

So many decisions! :confused3

Thanks in Advance for and advice.

I can only answer a few of your questions...
You can order gluten free cakes at WDW. The one I have had was fabulous. It was so good that every celiac diner at the table paused to check if it was really gluten free. (it was!). I don't think the non-celiac diners could tell the difference. We we so full after a great dinner that no one could eat much cake. There is a picture of it on my website - (www.eattolearn.com) - look under Magic Kingdom. There was a lot left over and we brought it back to the room with us.

You do need to order in advance. I think the CMs at the main dining reservation call center can give you the phone number to call to order cakes.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the picture & the reviews. What a cute cake with the castle and the Mickeys on it!

I'll have a review and pics when I return next week of the Gluten free, dairy free, soy free cake I ordered from the Wilderness Lodge. According to the information I got, they only come in 6 inch size. The cost is $29.50 (I believe it is $21 for a regular 6 inch cake), so it is a bit more expensive than a regular one. But worth it if I can get an actual real birthday cake that I don't have to make myself! :thumbsup2

I've been to a lot of WDW restaurants and been offered dessert options, though I am gluten and dairy free so I'm a lot more limited. If your DMIL is just gluten free, she can most likely get chocolate lava cakes and creme brulees, prior to dietary restrictions, I'd had the Le Cellier maple creme brulee and it was fantastic!

I'd get a hold of special diets and they can help put you in contact with the chefs at Le Cellier, if you have questions about dessert options or making something special.

Hope you have a great time! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the great information! The price isn't too bad because I can be sure it will be done right for DMIL. The other dessert options sound yummy too.

Have a great trip! :)
