DS and DDIL are going to WDW with her family (and us). They made adrs at their favorite restaurant, 50's Prime Time. DDIL's mother is gluten free and vegan. She is concerned that there is nothing on the menu she can eat. Can anyone help with this? Also, does anyone recommend any other restaurants that are really good with these two issues? Thanks for any help.

We are a vegetarian fam and my DD is allergic to dairy. We haven't eaten at 50s PT Cafe b/c there aren't as many options for us. Buffets will be your best bet because there are so many options to choose from and the chefs seem to have a lot more ingredients on hand to make meals to dietary specifications. I can tell you as far as vegan food goes, Boma and Tusker House (which is like a mini Boma) are great. At 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian, they always offer my DD a delicious vegan stir-fry and there are a few things she can eat on the buffet as well.

Check out the menus on AllEars. There's also a a few vegan dining threads here on the Dis: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1883962 and http://www.dis.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2473465. I find an idea I read on another post here works well: in your search engine type "site:disboards.com vegan" and you will get a lot of links to helpful threads.

Hopefully someone else can help w/ the GF stuff!

I'm certain they will work with her! I am veg, but allergic to mushrooms (such a picnic!) so I couldn't eat their standard vegetarian dish. They were able to make me a dish with noodles (like spaghetti noodles, IIRC,) and vegetables. It wasn't terribly special, but it did the trick. A similar dish with rice noodles or another type of GF noodle sounds like it would work for DDIL's mom.

I think they will find that as long as they are clear, upfront and patient with the chefs, they will be taken care of quite well at all Disney restaurants. I have eaten probably close to 25 TS meals within Disney (holy cow!) since May of last year, and have had only one poor experience (safe, but stressful -- we got attitude from the chef.) This included various levels of food allergy, up to and including a table with a vegetarian with two allergies and two other people with 8ish different allergies a piece. We almost NEVER eat out at home, but at Disney, it is a pleasure and we feel very safe.
