For those of you who have brought them from home, any trouble getting through security? Did you check them or carry on? Anyone know about international travel and if they would pose a problem?

Thanks!

I don't know about security, but glow necklaces are around 22 inches long and have to be kept straight. Once the necklace gets kinked, it starts glowing. I wouldn't take glow necklaces on an airplane because it would be a hassle to keep the necklaces straight while traveling.

If you are talking about glow sticks, necklaces, bracelets...If you buy them new, they generally come in a hard plastic case to prevent accidental bending. I bought 6 packs at Dollar Tree for our trip in May and had no problem at all. Some were in our carry ons and others in our checked luggage. They were all in the original packaging so that probably helped. I don't know about internationally.
This was a great tip I had gotten from the boards to but them ahead of time. Not 1 time did my DD's ask for a light or anything at the parades/night shows.
Enjoy! :earsgirl:

It was easy. I bought mine off ebay, and they came 50 in a cardboard tube. If I bought them at home, singly, I'd pack them in a wrapping paper tube, cut to the right length, so they didn't bend.

I'd just put a tube in my backpack, and we'd use them at night. My kids had fun and it was cheap...I think I paid about $20 for 200 or 250. We actually shared some with kids sitting around us.....I enjoyed surprising some families.

I use them year round.....the kids make a necklace at Halloween, for trick or treating, and I bring them out at July 4th....about 12 kids hanging around.....that reminds me, I need to order more!

We bought off of illuminationz.com and the glow sticks came in a cardboard tube. I just packed a whole tube. I agree with everyone else - they are great to have in the parks. I threw some in the backpack and we were good for the nighttime waits (like for fantasmic, fireworks). We, too, "shared" with other kids. What a great ice breaker - kid to kid. My DS8 actually kept "looking" for kids to share with. We used our "leftovers" at home as nightlights for DS3 - very cool - different colors every night and sometimes gave him 2 when he had a really good day :flower:

Oh, no problems whatsoever with airline (both USAirways and AirTrans). I think because they're plastic, they may not even show up as "anything".

Don't worry and ENJOY!!!
