I can sense the anticipation out there, of everyone dying to hear the results of my family dining survey.

So let’s get to it.
Question 1 asked about what type of food on our Epcot day.
As you can see above, “German” was the overwhelming response.
Question 2 was still in regard to our Epcot day, but provided menu examples. Also, it allowed for ranking of the responses, so maybe something from question 1 that was everyone’s second choice (like Canadian maybe?) could emerge from the shadows.
Le Cellier did come out of nowhere to make a decent showing in this question, but Biergarten was the clear family favorite, in both questions. I personally voted for Les Chefs de France. I mean, I love Biergarten but we’ve eaten there our last two trips and I thought it was time to try something different. The family obviously thought differently, and that was the purpose of the survey – to tap into what they’re thinking. Also, Biergarten was the top choice of Gram and Poppy (and Lauren), and since they haven’t eaten there before it keeps me from being tempted to “override” the survey results. Everyone else except me had it as their second choice, so its popularity in the survey was obviously no fluke.
Marlene and James both voted Les Chefs first, although they both replied with inconsistent answers in Question 1, Italian and German, respectively. But the other voters had Le Chefs at least in the middle of the pack, if not toward the bottom.
Le Cellier was the second choice of Gram, Poppy, and Lauren, and the third choice for me, Judy, and James. Marlene had it last. So it makes sense that it made a good showing in the ranking question, but didn’t appear on the first question where you could only provide one response.
Via Napoli got its highest score, a 2, from me. But of course I’ve read the reviews of their good pizza, and the others haven’t. Marlene and Lauren each ranked “Pasta, Pizza” as a 3, and the rest had it as 4’s and 5’s.
La Hacienda de San Angel was the least favored. It was Judy’s top choice, but got 4’s and 5’s from everyone else.
Well, that’s a lot of discussion on the first two questions…let’s keep moving. The next question was a ranking for a special meal. The restaurants I was thinking of were Jiko, Flying Fish, Sanaa, and ’Ohana. Yeah, I don’t know how ’Ohana slipped in there as a “special” meal. I guess I’d just read a couple of trip reports on it and was hungry for potstickers.
The race here was a lot tighter. As you can see, Flying Fish was the overall winner, but there are some other interesting things going on when you look at the data. For one thing, Sanaa actually tied Flying Fish amongst the “payers” (versus “glommers”).
Unfortunately, Gram and Poppy didn’t help break any ties, since Gram’s first choice (Jiko) was Poppy’s last choice, and his first choice (’Ohana) was her last.
Jiko was kind of interesting in that it received no second choice votes. It was either someone’s first choice, or towards the bottom.
Flying Fish though, in addition to being the overall winner, seems like a safe choice in that no one voted it last. It got a lot of 1’s or 2’s, and only one 3.
Next question: Dinner show? Well, duh!
Okay, but which one?
Overwhelmingly the Luau. All of my immediate family voted for the luau except myself, because I thought my parents would like Hoop de Doo better. But Gram and Poppy were split; Gram voting for Hoop, Poppy the Luau. If they had both voted for Hoop then maybe I would have overridden my family’s votes, but since they were split we’ll go with the overall result.
The “Male/Female, Yes/No” question.
Everyone answered “correctly”. I’m the main jokester in the family and I had gotten my fun in creating the survey, so even I didn’t answer this one with a “No”.
How many “Payers” and how many “Glommers”?
Again, everyone answered “correctly”. We take our surveys very seriously here.
And the last question, “Which Disney character are you most like?”
Announcement of the Match Game!
I was thinking, let’s have a new game
based on the information in the pie chart. Simply match up the people who participated in my survey (including me) with the characters in the chart. Who provided which responses? Whoever of you DISers gets the most right gets a point. If there’s a tie, both (or all) of you get a point. I’ll give you until this Thursday at 8pm eastern time to make your guesses. You can just reply here on the thread, in super-secret invisio-white text.
Since we’re doing this Match Game, I won’t reveal the results of the last 2 questions of the survey game until the Match Game is done. Those answers could give you some clues. In the meantime, if you want to change your answers to those 2 questions, or submit answers if you haven’t already, you can still do so up until Thursday.
Good luck!
