Hello Folks

Well, its finally here, were off to orlando in only a matter of days now, just need a question answered. In the theme parks is there a place to put personal items while on the ride, because some of family wear glasses and of course they cant be taken on the rollercoasters, hopefully theres a place to put them.

I always use a soft Disney sunglasses case. They are sold all over at disney. I think they are called 'sports' sunglass cases.

They have a clip on them and you can attach them most anywhere - I hang mine either from a belt loop on my trousers, or onto my camera bag. My wife hangs hers from a lanyard.

Hi Shane, you will find most people take somesort of light rucksack or bag of somesort.
We tend to take a messenger type bag for drinks/snacks/sun cream/sungalasses etc plus you can put your wallet/tickets etc in there.

Whilst many of the rides do have places for storing things we have always found a bag of some description essential.

My DH is as blind as a bat without his glasses and has never taken them off to go on a ride they should be fine keeping them on.

I was going to post a similar question about what to do at the water parks. I considered investing in disposable lenses then it doesn't matter if one or two go awol! I don't really want to go on rides without my specs as I won't be able to see much either.

I've worn glasses all my life and have always worn them on rides, except from the past few years when I have had some contact lenses. Never had any trouble with them, and I have also worn sunglasses on a number of rides without any trouble.

If you do want to take them off, I would do as someone suggested and get a case and put them in your pocket or something.

As far as waterparks are concerned Lizzy, I've not been to one for a number of years, but, when I have been I have walked around without them on, and I have very bad eyesight. Only trouble was I seem to recall was finding the way back to where we were sat!!

If I was to take my glasses off I would miss all the special effects, so I never take mine off. On the wilder rides, or wet rides, I use a divers band which slots onto the arms of your glasses and you wear it round your head. It's not particularly cool, but keeps things safe whilst ensuring you can see clearly.

Thanks for all your help, I'd never of known alot of you actually went on rollercoasters with your glasses on, I'm so worried they will fall off and then be left with no glasses for the holiday! =o

Always, always, always, take a spare pair even if they're the previous prescriptions. My prescription doesn't change much so the previous pair of specs is OK, I keep them for going swimming in. I would never consider going without specs as I'd miss so much.

I'd end up feeling sick walking around with my glasses on.

I always take mine of on rides however when i put them in a bag(without case) om SM2 at DLP and the lense fell out, they were easily put back in however I hated being in a theme park and not been able to see, when we went on RnRC I left them with some one who was not riding so I was iI missed all the stuff on the walls, so will have to take my case next time.

My son, DH and I wear glasses and we never took them off on any of the rides. We were fine. Now admittedly we didn't do Duelling Dragons or Hulk at Universal but we did most everything else, Rock 'n Roller Coaster, Splash Mountain etc.

The only place I had problems with my glasses was at the Honey I Shrunk The Audience show in Epcot. I got such a huge fright when I felt the mice at my legs, I wasn't expecting it, and at that exact moment I was fiddling with my glasses so I accidentally threw them right off my face *and* screamed too. :lmao: At the end of the show I kinda announced to all and sundry that my glasses were gone and a little boy in the row in front found them!! I felt like a fool. lol!!! I'm sure that was a rather individual issue though and not a general problem for all glasses wearers. :teeth:

Oh this made me :rotfl:

Thanks for all your advice, I will end up taking them on the rides aswell, as I guess if i user a "Divers" band they should be okay, even if i have to hold them in place =]

similar to other suggestions i bought some cord thing for 6 bux that pulled tight behind my head and kept my sunglasses in place. i didnt like wearing it though and ive binned it

Dh wears his for most rides though i do make him take them off for the bigger rollercoasters. That's only because he doesn't have a spare pair if he did ose them. When he's not wearing them he just put's them down his top or in a pocket . :thumbsup2

We converted to soft contact lenses a couple of years ago so now we tuck our sunglasses in pockets down tops or in cases in my handbag :thumbsup2
The only downside of this is water rides are not good with sunscreen and lenses, mine end up with water pouring off my head into my eyes which make them sting like mad...last year we did a couple of water rides and had to reapply sunscreen and rinse lenses afterwards but it didn't stop us having fun :goodvibes PS put your glasses somewhere really safe if you go on Spiderman at US it's very wild DH lost his last year he thought he had them in his pocket but they vanished when we got out of the cab :confused3
