I thought my DD (5) would get a kick out of riding in a glass bottom boat. At first I thought I would do the one at Castaway Cay, but the more I read these boards the more I see people saying they wished they would not have limited their beach time with excursions and spa treatments.

So now I am thinking that maybe doing this excursion at Nassau would be a better idea.

Any opinions? Has anyone done both to compare and contrast?

We did the one in Nassau. It was OK, but I don't know that I'd do it again. We have a four and five year old. The walls enclosing the glass bottom were high enough that we had to lift the four year old (the five year old is tall for his age). The fish were ok, but they see better fish at the aquarium. We did see the shipwreck, which was cool....but there was probably fifteen or twenty minutes worth of cool for a four or five year old in four hours of commitment.

We had lovely weather, the boat ride was fun, and we sailed around the harbor. It was a good morning - but we'd have had as much fun visiting the pirate museum (went there once we got off the boat) and swimming in the Mickey pool.

The Glass Bottom boat tour at Castaway Key is only about an hour long so you might not miss too much of the beach. DH and I slept in on Castaway Cay day and actually met Mom and Aunt returning from their 9:45 tour when we were going to the beach about 11:00. They enjoyed it a lot but then they don't swim so they hadn't planned to go to the beach. I think after that they found a quiet spot near the Air Bar where they could sit at a picnic table under a tree and watch the birds for half of the day while DH and I went to the beach.

According to the Castaway Cay-vents there was a Glass Bottom boat ride at 2:15 so you might want to do the beach early then have a late lunch and the boat ride before returning to the ship.

Jsut remember to slather sun screen regardless of what you do.
