We are wanting some feedback on the Glass bottom boat excursions. We also are trying to get info on wether to do this in Nassau or Castaway Cay. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

My parents did the shore excursion at Castaway Cay and got very seasick. The water was very calm inside the breakwall but they go outside it for the glass bottom boats and it was quite rough. They didn't feel they saw that many fish. Perhaps someone else can give you some more positive feedback.

We did the one in Nassau because our kids aren't scuba certified yet and it was one of the cheapest excursions there and let me tell ya....we were sorely disappointed! Granted dh and I scuba so it was a let down that way for us but we walked for what seemed forever from the ship to get to the boat. It was a nice boat, big, double decker. We started out and when we got to the "spot" where you could still see the Ship so we were near the port they asked us to all go downstairs. The steps were very steep, narrow and wet and me and dd fell a little bit. Once in the bottom it was freezing cold and smelled terrible. They opened up the "viewing hatch" and there were a few fish around but nothing exciting..mostly just small aquarium type fish with no color. We got sea sick down in the bottom of the boat and came upstairs to the top because it was miserable down there. Two elderly women vomited just before we left the bottom and it was a general consensus among most of us that it was a terrible excursion even if they offered it for free. We may have just had a bad experience but it is one I could never encourage someone to do. Take it for what it's worth

:cool1: We booked this excursion at castaway cay and it was cancelled..
I think alot of people just want to swim and such..
You might be better off doing it in Nassau as the straw markets and hair braiders are quite overwhelminG anyways. :maleficen

Don't do it in Nassau!! The above description is right.
My in-laws did this and regretted wasting so much valuable time on such a disappointment (we stayed on-board and enjoyed the ship). You spend most of your time on the top deck. They take one part of the group at a time to the viewing area for just a few minutes. If you've been on a glass bottom boat in Florida it's not the same thing. In Nassau you look through a hatch to even see the glass- not a direct viewing of the bottom. The only thing they saw there were some gray fish. Their kids (ages 3, 5, & 8) were beyond bored. :sad2:

My mom did it in CC in 2003 and was very unhappy. She said there was very little seating, and although she got on early enough to get one of the coveted seats, she ended up giving it up to an elderly person. She said it was uncomfortable to stand that long, and didn't see enough fish to make it worth it. We're planning our next cruise for Sept. 06, and teasing about her going again. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

Thanks to everyone who replied! I think we will be passing on this excursion! Its too bad tho-it sounds like a great concept!
