GKTW, MAW, Waterslide? Food?

My daughter has not made her official MAW wish yet (we are in Wisconsin where she had a Bone Marrow Transplant), home is CA, however I know it is going to be Walt Disney World. Today she wanted to look at their website for the whole place and she's in heaven. I am looking forward to when she can make her wish and have them say what they will do. I am hoping she can make her wish in May. Okay, enough ramblings. I have two questions. Well, probably more, but two will do for now.

One, does GKTW have a waterslide? She is a huge water fan and is looking forward to swimming and going down a waterslide. It is one of her criteria for a hotel.

Two, if you stay at GKTW, do you get any sort of money or credits for meals in the park? It looks like breakfast and dinner is provided at the hotel, but what if you dont want to go back to the hotel?

I guess that is good for now. Thanks in advance for any help and info.

Lots of prayers for a successful BMT for your daughter!

She has Aplastic Anemia which means her body was not producing blood cells. Her BMT was in November and so far she is doing well. Since last Mother's Day when everything started, life has revolved around blood counts, hospital stays, dr visits, blood transfusions and staying away from germs. I am looking forward to her being able to make a wish and get away from all things doctor for a bit and be a normal, fun loving little girl again.

When I went to WDW for my wish trip, I stayed at GKTW. Check out the website at www.gktw.org. Make-A-Wish gave every member of our family $21 a day for food. We had 6 people so we had $126 to spend on food each day. We always had extra. We usually ate breakfast at GKTW. GKTW itself has tons of activities. I hope you have a great trip!

Hi, thought I could answer several of your questions. My daughter had her wish this past October. We stayed at GKTW. It is an incredible resort!

First, there is not a waterslide, unfortunately. But it is still a very nice pool with some fun frog fountains. Since she is such a huge slide fan, I suggest using some of your money you receive from Make a Wish and spend a day at either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. We've have been to both. They are fantastic!

Make a Wish will give you a check before you leave for your trip. The amount seems to differ between all the make a wish offices. I know they have some sort of formula they use to calculate your allotment. For us, we are a family of 5, we got $1400. We used it for MNSSHP (halloween party) tickets, food outside of GKTW and we bought a ton of souvineers. The rental van was already paid for plus we didn't even have to gas it up upon returning to the airport.

We are going on my daughter's make-a-wish Trip to Disney-World in October. My question is are the tickets to DisneyWorld, park hopper tickets and do they have the water park options on them?

They are Hopper tickets but not water park option. And to tell you the truth you won't have time to do them. We TOTALLY didn't do any water because we were so busy doing the parks. 3- disney hopper tickets, 2 universal, 1 sea world and then there are sooooooo many special things at GKTW you may want to do. Pool Party with the Sea World staff, Disney character come out 2-3 days, family fishing, etc. We went May 05. You will totally LOVE GKTW!!! They offer soooooooooooo much that you won't even believe and we wish we could go back there and stay...but only one trip. ENJOY every minute...
