Giving Blood

I haven't yet because of my tattoos - you need to wait 12 months before you can give, and I keep getting them lol. Someday I will!

My tetanus wasn't bad, for whatever reason it was my meningitis one that did.. which is weird, because it's supposed to be the other way around. It must've been the way she did it the second time.
That was a little OT, and more of a reply to Haz.

My tetanus was bad...it hurt for like a week.

I got the HPV shots and those all hurt bad too.

I donated blood for the first time last December at a blood drive at my school. Needles and blood don't bother me at all, so I was perfectly fine. The lady who drew my blood said I was the calmest person she had seen all day (It was about 2pm at that point). Unfortunately, something happened and they weren't able to use my blood. I still don't know what was wrong - I think it was something with the paperwork - they just sent me a letter in the mail saying something was inconsistent in my paperwork and they couldn't use my blood. I plan on donating again soon.

My mom used to donate every two months, but she can't donate anymore for various medical reasons.

My dad donates regularly and I plan to donate regularly too! :)

Unfortunately, you have to be 18 here. But I'm a universal donor, so I definitely will in the future.

Needles don't freak me out at all.

I don't think I can ever give blood, because of my chemo treatments and transplant. However, the blood donations have helped save my life.

Oh, ports are the worst! Well, no, double PICC lines are the worst, because they can't be taken out and hang out of your body. D:

Surprisingly, I like my blood drawn from my hand. My veins are super tiny, and that's the only place where you can see them. IVs there are fine too. Arms are bad because you can't bend it /at all/.

Yes you can. You have to wait a year after treatment to donate. I plan on doing it as soon as I hit the requirements. Someone saved my life, and now it's time for me to save another persons life.

Oh, and you could not PAY me to get a PICC. Never. Nah-uh. No way.

Well we haven't had anyone come to our school, but I definitely would if someone did come.

Hmm, that's good to know Sonya! That means that I could actually donate right now, as my last chemo treatment was Feb. 28, 2008.
