I wanted to know if it's just the resort character meals that children can give characters their address to have a picture sent to them at home. Has anyone given characters outside the resort meals addresses with any luck?

I have never even heard of this being done at the character meals or at the character meet and greets in the parks.

I am very disappointed that I did not remember to do this - I have heard from others on the baord that sometimes... not always you will get an autographed picture from the character

So people give pieces of paper to characters with their child's name and address on them with a note that they would like a signed picture of that character mailed to their house for free? I have never seen nor heard of this being done. I just cannot image that Disney garentees this.

Has anyone on these boards done this and actually gotten a signed picture in the mail when you got home?

I remember last year sometime there was a little boy who gave the characters at 1900 Park Fare Hershey's bars with his address on the wrappers.

I thought I read about this on the boards too ... that would be a pretty neat thing to do! I guess if everyone knew about it, Disney would start charging for it.

I wonder if the characters have pockets to put all the slips of paper in :p *lol* Just kidding!

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but I don't think I'd be giving out my childs full name or address to anyone while we were on vacation!
(well, the sitters at the resorts, of course, but at a character meal? just doesn't sound safe to me.)

well I did not say disney guarantees it - I was just going back over one of my minidv tapes to edit for a cd for my kid...and there in the background of one of the character meetings I filmed is the helper for this one character - we were talking while I ws taping and the CM told me to leave my name my name and address...so it wasn't only on here that I have heard stories of it... I am sure Dsney does not guarantee it as it is mentioned no where on their site... but then a slew of other things I learned both here and through concierge, and various cm's isn't talked about on disneys site either

oops I guess I did not use the quote function properly the middle paragraph is what I wrote ... the statement above and below the middle was a previous poster

I would give them my name (maybe last only with a first initial) and my work address. Maybe that would be a bit safer. Renessa

I'd be a little nervous that the character might accidently lose it and someone else would get a hold of it. Using a work address was a good idea.

I remember reading a few years ago that airport baggage handlers were reading the address on luggage tags and calling accomplices in those areas. Basically, they had the person's home address and they knew they would be out of state for a while.

Now, I'm paranoid and put the luggage tags in an unlocked outer zipper pocket, attached to the zipper but inside the pocket itself. We have never had a problem at the airport for doing this. It takes longer and is more obvious to open up the pocket than to just look at an exposed tag.

Sorry to drift. I doubt that would happen at Disney, but it doesn't hurt to be cautious. :D

I kept on trying to give Ariel my email address and she kept slapping me.... :o

Sorry, I'm in that kind of mood this morning.:jester:

Never ever EVER apologize for being in a good silly mood!

Although, I don't know what's worse, being rejected by Ariel or getting slapped soundly by her flipper!

*whap whappa whap whap* (wet slapping sounds)

We just got back and I had reprints of a favorite photo of my DD's with the princesses copied. We attached a nice thank you to the back of each picture and my daughters gave one to Cinderella and Belle during Cindy's breakfast. I can tell you that they were surprised by the gift and indeded did not really have any place to put it. Belle tucked it into her apron waistbank. It was nice, we did include their names and home address. I'll let you know if we receive any acknowlegement besides the thank you and extra hug at breakfast - which was fine with us.

Ok - I'm going way offtrack here, but did you ever notice how us Dads are always grumbling while waiting in long lines for the kids to meet Mickey and Donald and Goofy, yet we always seem to be so much more pleasant while waiting in line at Ariel's Grotto????? :smooth:

Kind of like how my DH and father get much more excited seeing the princesses at CRT than my son! Jasmine is a big hit in our family LOL
