Give me your best Nikon D90 Tips

Hi everyone!!!

I've wanted a digital SLR for many years, and this year my DH got one for me with an extra lens and and external flash. The problem...I know next to NOTHING about digital SLR cameras. I even ordered the Nikon D90 for Dummies book but just received it and don't think I'll have time to read it before Christmas to take beautiful pictures....any hints on how to set he ISO, shutter, etc? I would love to take pictures of the tree with my kids in front of it without ambient light...just the tree lights.

I would post this on the photography board if I were you. Im getting a new camera for Christmas myself this year and I thiknk I'll be hanging out over there for a while.

Ihave this camera i love it i use Auto it takes beautiful pictures.
