Give me the facts, what are the rooms at the Courtyard Downtown Disney really like?

As one post stated, all Marriott Courtyards are not created equal! What conditiion are the rooms at the Coirtyard Marriott, Downtown Disney in? I am considering saving some money by switching from the Boardwalk, but don't want to be sorry as soon as I open the room door! Anyone that has stayed there recently, thanks in advance for the info!

I assure you, you will be sorry you switched.

We stayed there for one night before we checked in at the Dolphin in April and I'll never do it again and here are the reasons.

Got there 3pm after driving 18 1/2 hours form Long Island and the room was not ready. I said no problem we'll go to Downtown Disney and come back in an hour or so and they said our room would be ready when we got back. Well 2 hours later and no room yet. They gave us coupons for free TCBY Yogurt and told us to come back in an hour or so. Well you probably guessed it, an hour later and no room, this time they gave us free breakfast coupons. I finally got a room at about 7pm and guess what, the air-conditioning in our room was broken. They said they would send someone to fix it, and guess what, they couldn't fix it. Now they supposedly had no rooms left and I asked to speak with the manager. It’s amazing; she was able to find me a room with just a few keystrokes. At this point I'm just happy to hit the sack.

I really can’t complain they gave me free Yogurt, free breakfast, and didn't charge me for my rollaway bed.

The next morning we arrive at the Dolphin 9:30 am, I get a free upgrade, the room is ready, no charge for my rollaway bed, and the rest of out vacation was great.

I've stayed at many different Marriott’s and this was the worst I've ever stayed at. It’s not worth the saving.

We're going down in July and I am staying at a Marriott again for one night but not the one at Down Town Disney.

we stayed there and had problems as well. The first time was ok, we were not in the tower, so we stayed a second time...We had a tower room, first off they couldn't find our reservation and gave us a hard time about that then when we finally got into the room the air wasn't working properly...couldn't get it fixed and the lock to door wasn't working! We had to call maintence so many times and they couldn't get it fixed! They wouldn' t give us another room and the placed smelled like cigarettes caused everyone smoked down in the lobby and the smell drifted up. YECK!
Not my first or last choice anymore!

We've stayed there three times and never had a problem. The rooms have always been clean and well maintained. $20 a night is an excellent deal if you are going for that rate. Plus you get all the benefits of being on-site. We have always had a rental car so I can't comment on the transportation.

As for being disappointed. If you have ever seen or stayed at the Boardwalk, the Courtyard can't compare. If you don't know what you'll be missing at the Boardwalk you shouldn't be disappointed (unless you have an isolated bad experience like the posts above).

We stayed at the Courtyard in May and we had a GREAT experience with this hotel. We found the rooms to be very very clean. They were large, with great amemities. We had a balcony on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool. The room was ready when we got there and the people were very friendly. I have only positive things to say about this hotel.

I've never stayed there, so I can't help! But maybe you can split your stay.

In case you didn't see it, there is a limited availability special for $20! The info is on mousesavers.com

We are going for the 20.00 special in September. Please don't compare the BW to the Marriott. We stayed at the BW in Jan. and it was absolutely wonderful. But we also paid 300.00 a night for the BW compared to 20.00 a night for the Marriott. We never stayed at the Marriott but who can beat that rate. It all depends what you're looking for. This is an added trip for us because of the 20.00 rate so I'll be happy just to be at WDW.

We just came back from the Courtyard by Marriott. We wanted a higher floor room overlooking Downtown Disney and the only room available was a smoking room. The stale cigarette smell from this room never left, even after spraying down the room. If you don't like the stale smell of cigarette smoke, then I would highly suggest getting only a non-smoking room.

We stayed at the Courtyard DD and had a great time. We had requested the room overlooking DD and Epcot....it was ready when we got there. The room was large and could easily hold 4-6 guests. The shuttle service was excellent to the parks and to DD. We are Marriott Rewards members and had a special check in desk. It was nice not to have to stand in the long line at the desk. They even called twice during the week to make sure we were having a nice stay. Anyone can register for Marriott Rewards over the web and I feel at least at this hotel it made a difference.

Why do you think that the Marriott can hold 6 people? I've been looking for an inexpensive way that mh DH, 4 children and I could stay. How many beds are available? Are the rooms large? Thank you for any information. Also do they allow 6 people in a room?

The rooms are large. We had a room in the main tower, overlooking DD and Epcot. The room had two queen beds and a queen sofa sleeper. The bathroom was also a good size. I don't know what their actual room occupancy limits are, but 2 adults and 4 children/teens could easily fit. We enjoyed the balcony and the lights at night, but if my children had been younger it would of made me nervous being up that high and having them on the balcony. The hotel has a nice breakfast buffet that is fairly reasonable in price. When we were there the CY was the first pickup with the transportaion so there was always a seat. I am sure there are more luxurious hotels in the Disney resort area, but this CY was nice, clean, large rooms and a friendly and helpful staff. We would go back again.
If you have any further ?? you can email me. I only check the board occasionally. Chris
