Give Me Some Hope - VGC September or October 2016

We're hoping to book a combined VGC & Aulani trip for next September. Ideally we'd like to book so that the one day is either Labor Day or Columbus Day so DH can save a vacation day, but we're pretty flexible. The goal is to just book one week in a studio at VGC and one week in an OV Studio at Aulani.

We'll be booking at 7 months. I'm not worried about Aulani but worried about VGC. Give me some hope! Anyone successfully book VGC in September at 7 months?

We have been waitlisted for 2 days at VGC for months. We have the other 5 days all set. Unfortunately we are missing day1 and day 6. Today I booked the first day with cash (to the tune of $500!) I am almost ready to give up. Good luck to you.

Labor Day is probably impossible. It is half marathon time. Columbus Day has a greater chance, but pretty much all of AZ has fall break that week and the parks will be packed!!! I know that's probably not the news you want.

But, if you have those holidays fall on your Aulani portion and do DL either the week before or after... You have a decent shot right at 7 months. If you can swing a 1 BR, you have a better chance. The studios are hardest to book.

But, you might have a chance if you arrive on Labor Day. Most runners and family check out and head home that day.

Well it may be a little more complicated than you might think. For 2015, there was the following at 7 months out:

1. Contrary to what is suggested above VGC studios were open Labor Day weekend and time immediately after at 7 months out, but were gone for Columbus Day weekend and actually much of the first half of Oct.

2. But there may be a different problem. For the week beginning the Saturday after Labor Day, the ocean view and other studios at Aulani were gone at 7 months out for four of the nights that week.They were open, except for standard view throughout the first half of Oct at 7 months out.

As for the month of Sep and Oct, VGC studios were open the entire month of September at 7 months out but much of October was a poblem, while the Aulani OV studio was open through just after Labor weekend in Sep but then had issues with a couple or more days missing each week the rest of Sep while open throughout Oct.
