I've decided to extend my Easter at Hilton Head trip and go on down to Disney for a few days after Easter. I've got points, plenty of points, but I figure everything DVC will be booked up by now. I'm going to call tomorrow morning anyway.
But....here's the back up plans. I know I can get an offsite room, but I'm an onsite kinda gal. Offsite is last resort. If no DVC room available, I'm hoping for a Disney collection room. In particular, a Fort Wilderness Cabin. We've never stayed at FW and we want to try it. When we have options, ie we've done our booking at 11 months, we usually end up at our favorite BWV. So, now this is our opportunity to try something different.
I've gone to the Disney website and cabins are available for cash. So,now my question is...does that mean I can actually count on getting it for points as a Disney collection choice? Does anyone know? Or will I be looking at the room as available for cash but possibly can't book it? There are BWV rooms available for cash but not for points and I understand why, of course. Just not sure if there is some catch when it's the other way around. A cabin is 36 points that week; a BWV one bedroom is 40.....a change is as good as a rest some times, they say. My daughter thinks we will have to sleep in a tent <g>. I haven't really told her it's a cabin....my little joke!
