We arrive at AK by 7.45 and are through and queuing for Kilimanjaro Safaris not long after. We are on the ride in only the time it takes to walk to the trucks. It was a good ride with lots of animals to see – but as always happens you are sat on the wrong side for photos, so we decide to Fastpass and ride again changing positions. What a result no queue again so we are off straight away. Our driver is great and we are in the front row so manage to have a good chat to him. Once we are through we head over to Dinosaur but DD chickens out at the last minute so we join the line for Finding Nemo The Musical. We are waiting the full 45 minutes as recommended but in the shade it was not too hot. The show was fabulous – only Disney could manage a full stage show in a theme park.

By now we were really hungry and had heard good things about Yak & Yeti so we went to the café for chicken fried rice, Asian salad and egg rolls – it was very good. A little bit more retail therapy followed before going back to the hotel. It looked like a storm was brewing but when nothing happened we went down to the pool.

We filled the car on the way back to MK (Hess $3.79 – coming down) and arrived shortly after 6.30. First things first, dinner – back to Peco Bill’s – we had got the sharing meals down to a fine art – 2 between the three of us was plenty. POTC was showing only a 10 minute wait so we
yo-ho’d for a bit pirate: and then rode the TTA which for some reason is always a favourite ride. We stopped in Fantasyland for an iced coffee and people watched for a bit. DD had her photo taken with Fairy Godmother (she looked a bit grumpy – but it was extremely hot even though it was dark by now). We then chose a spot for the fireworks – which happened to be the wrong one, so a couple of minutes after they started we upped sticks (literally as I had the tripod set-up) and moved a bit further along. Using the tripod made the photos a bit steadier and I have managed a few good ones.
It was like rats deserting the sinking ship – Main Street was rammed so instead of trying to leave we went to the bakery and got ice-cream sandwiches. By the time we left it was not so much of a crush except the queue area for the boat – they really cram you in – anyway we are soon in line for the tram (as we are too tired to walk back to the car) but it seems that people lose all sense of reason when they are tired, they rushing at the trams as soon as they arrived and any lines that had formed within the chained areas were forgotten:mad: , we just held back a bit until we could get seats together and we were away. We are back at the hotel by 11.45 so not bad at all.

Noteworthies:
Tiredness doesn’t bring out the best in people.

Sunday 3rd August
Due to the fact we were so tired from last night we planned on having a lazy day – but as ever I was awake early so from the chink of light from the curtains I wrote up my diary and began to tidy the room as quietly as I could. I needn’t have worried, it would have taken an earthquake to have shifted DD from that bed – still a gentle kick at 9.30 did the trick and we were at the food court by 10.00 – OMG it was heaving, but we had a system now and by the time DH was ready to pay DD had found a seat and I had made the drinks. Oh forgot to mention we had become quite European, (before loading the washing machine on the way in) we had laid our towels on three loungers, well the pool area was not busy otherwise I wouldn’t have and it would give them a chance to dry in the sun. I know that it said just to call Mousekeeping for extra towels but they weren’t dirty only damp – just trying to do our bit for the environment (I wonder how many towels they wash each day………..).

Anyway 2 loads of washing/drying later :laundy: and a good few hours in the sun we are melting so go back to the room to get ready before heading to the Florida Mall. After an ice-cream at Dairy Queen we spent a few hours trawling the shops before going to DTD for DD to get a bag (which incidentally they didn’t have). Anyway back to the hotel for some ironing before we go to the Red Lobster for tea. We all needed an early night before our breakfast at the Grand Floridian Café and photo shoot – oh I almost forgot, it was nearly my birthday too.

Noteworthies:
Bath and Body works had a fantastic deal on anti-bac hand soap, 7 for $20 – well you have to don’t you.

Cocktail count – 0 again (the trip report name will have to be changed)
Days ‘til we go home - 3

What great days your having, was the Yak & Yeti really nice?, we want to try it but dont have an ADR so hoping for a walk in:)

cant wait to try yak and yetti, the food sounds yummy:goodvibes

I am amazed that you have done so much washing and ironing whilst on holiday :scared: but then I remembered that you packed light! :thumbsup2 not a bad plan!

Thank you for posting. MK can be an absolute nightmare getting out of after the fireworks, one year it took an hour and a half to get back to the hotel, now we just view Epcot fireworks instead.

I love that hand wash from Bath and Body Works and am not looking forward to mine running out! The TTA is one of my favourite rides too, it's just so relaxing. I have never seen the Fairy Godmother out for pics, shame she was grumpy.
