We arrived at CM for breakfast at 8 and were seated right away. I was thinking great. We were sat beside the most rude family I have ever had the misfortune to run across in all of my life. It was a family of 4 women and atleast 15 kids. moms at one table and kids at the other. the children were cursing and chasing mickey and goofy at other tables one women had to ask them to move where she could take pics of her kids. the server could not do any thing with them. Then they did a group pic with goofy and one of the moms said to the kids and I quote Give goofy the finger.goofy was shaking his head by this point. the three other tables around them were rolling eyes me included. so glad to see them leave. The rainbow at the end of it all was the server gave my two special dreams come true pins that only the staff can give away and was so nice I don't know if the other families received pins or not but the kids loved the pins the server gave them. This not the norm for CM this is the 4th time I have eaten there and never before just such a wild thing I have to share.:confused3

I am so glad they gave you something. I can not imagine mothers wanting their kids to give someone the finger let alone a character with a bunch of little kids around. I'm sure that kid is going to be so proud of that picture when he is older and is showing them to his kids "NOT". That is so sad. I hope it didn't ruin your experience too much. I'm 32 years old and my mom would beat me if I acted that way in public now!

they sound awful!!! I don't understand how people can bahave like that!! I am so bad, I would have been making comments to DH and Dkids about their behavior in a REALLY LOUD voice!!!! I am a little passive aggressive that way!;)

I would have asked to see the manager. It is a shame what people think is "ok".
Several friends of mine have worked "closely" with characters for a few years now and the stories! My word! Minnie head first in a a fountain, characters punched in the head by a "dad" who thought it was funny, tails and tounges being pulled.......

I can't even imagine letting my children or myself behave in such a manner. That is terrible.

Sounds like the type of family who appear on "COPS" after the police are called out when a child's birthday turns into a drunken brawl.

Do you ever wonder why people like this are even interested in WDW? If that's what they find to be amusing and acceptable behavior, you'd imagine they'd find WDW to be lame and boring. :confused3

I would have asked to see the Manager and demand another reservation at another time where I could have enjoyed my meal and the characters. How does that saying go, "If mama ain't happy, nobody's happy." Sorry your time was spoiled. There are some people who just think they are the only ones in the place.:wizard:

I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience there!

A mom telling her kid to give a character the finger? What planet were those people from?? And can we send them on a one-way trip back???

Ugh! I just can't even imagine!!! So sorry you had to endure such an experience. :sad2:

I did ask my DH what rock they had climbed from under.:rotfl:

It's truly frightening how some children are being raised. I'm not a perfect parent, but it doesn't take a whole lot of common sense to know that encouraging kids to give the finger to ANYBODY is unacceptable. I'm glad you got a little compensation for your experience. It sounds like you were more than patient with the situation. Can you imagine how this bunch behaved in the parks? Heaven help everyone who crossed their path.

Funny, I didn't realize they served mimosas at Chef Mickey's breakfast. And if those women weren't "indulging" then they should be striped of their title of Mother. That's a title earned, not given.

Wow! What an ignorant family that was. Our teenagers don't even act that ignorant (and teen boys can be a bit....well, uncouth would be a nice way to put it). I'm glad that group didn't ruin your whole dinner.

The characters at the meals can be so fun if they are allowed to be.

Sounds like the group we had to endure for dinner at CM's in August. I was thrilled to be seated in that upper level room, on the side with the windows overlooking the lake and MK. But, then we saw the two tables moved together!!! Hoped beyond hope that it would be a nice calm group. Nope....5 adults with about 10 kids!!!They ranged in age from a year to 15 or so. And they also were allowed to run all over the place, going up to the characters while the character was at another table. I'm a bit ashamed of myself, but when a little boy, about 7-8, jumped in front of my dd as she was having her photo taken with Goofy, I told him to go back to his table and wait his turn!! I don't think his family was very happy about my comment. I then in a pretty audible voice said to my dd, "Everyone has to wait for each character to come to THEIR table...you can't just chase after them!"
Did it change the behaviour? Nope, not a bit. That group was loud, obnoxious, and rude. Their kids started tossing food around...that was the teens in the group!!! I have to say, I really think the characters spent a lot less time up in that room than I have ever seen!!! Can't say as I blame them one bit though.
Even our server was kept hopping....we waited forever to get drink refills because she had to spend so much time with those other two tables. She did apologize when she brought out our bill.

Unfortunately, everyone who goes to WDW is not full of pixie dust and Disney magic. We do our best to put some distance between us and folks like you describe, but in a restaurant I understand how that might not be possible. It would be nice, at least once, to see folks like this "asked" to leave, whether it be a restaurant, theme-park, or even a resort. Better luck next time!

I wish I could be more shocked at a story like this, but this really shows how one group can have such influence over other people. And with a comment from one of the moms to give Goofy the finger.....no wonder the kids were behaving like that!

I find it amazing how some people act in public. We went to CM in August and there were three young adults with two small children with them in line in front of us. We were waiting to check in and the kids were crawling under the wall and bothering the guests that were eating on the other side. None of the adults bothered to do anything about their fresh kids.

After we were seated we ended up next to a table with two kids around my sons age (12) and they were not behaving much better. They had food and ice cream all over the table and floor. Not just a little mess but, more like a food fight. I felt bad for the person who came to clean up after they left. The poor guy had to put on gloves it was so gross. My son looked at him and said don't worry we won'r be messy like them. The CM let out a little laugh with a smile.
