Give a Day-Project linus-How many blankets do you make?

For anyone who has done the Project Linus and made blankets, How many do you make? Do they give you a number or is it as many people in your family that is participating? I sent an e-mail asking but haven't heard yet. I thought maybe someone here could help me.

I was thinking of the no sew fleece ones. I can not sew!!

Sounds like most of them you have to do one blanket per family member that is getting a ticket, but I did see some other people saying that they had to make two per person. GOOD LUCK!

The chapter I'm crocheting for is only one. It seems to depend on the chapter, they each have their own requirements.

Hi, I'm also from the Akron area and we just finished our PL blankets. We are dropping them off in Solon. The requirement was a minimum of 1 per person.

Also~I can't sew either! We did the new sew version and the blankets turned out very nicely. I do reccomend purchasing a rotary cutter, as the directions suggest.

There is quite a long thread on this..It seems to vary wildly. The one I'm doing only requires 1 per person, and they didn't specify sizes or thicknesses or anything like that. I'm crocheting a small one (30x36) and DH made a standard size single fleece no sew.

The chapter that I am with required 2 blankets per person. We did the no-sew fleece blankets. They were a lot of fun!

The Corpus Christi chapter required 1 blanket if it was crochet,knitted or quilted. 2 if it was no sew fleece.

We had 7 family members and we went to walmart and bought baby quilt material that all you had to do was sew on the binding or ruffle edges. Cost us about 12.00 per blanket.

we did the no-sew and it was 2 per person. It's really not that much work to make them, I found it very relaxing. I did the double layer ones since that's what I'm familiar with doing but many only want the single layer type which would definitely require a rotary cutter and mat so keep that in mind.

We're in Michigan and everyone in my family made one. Project Linus here required 1 if it was a 2 layer no-sew fleece or 2 if you made single layer no-sew fleece. It was fun and easy!

Mousetrip07: what kind of fleece did you use? It says Polar fleece. Is that just regular fleece? We are turning ours in in Solon also.

Ding ding, I am the winner, my local group wants 6 (SIX) per person.

I am doing it anyway, because I truly believe in the the cause. DD has been in the hospital alot the last 3 years, and I know how much these things mean to kids. We also got hand made pillowcases in the hospital, that we liked even better, but I do not know any specific national group that does the pillowcases....

Texas- had to make 2 per person, no sew fleece 48 x 60 single preferred but they will take a double layer

The one in FL is very specific as to size and material used. No single layer allowed. It is one per person, unless it is a no sew knotted-then it is two per person. Specific drop off times as well.

I found a Project Linus chapter in York County, Maine that I sending my blankets to. There is a Seacoast NH chapter also, but they are not accepting volunteers at this point. I didn't find the York County ME one on the inital search pages, but after you put in your zip code and it brings up your local volunteer opportunities, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. At the bottom it has a link that says "Click here for information for HandsOn Network partner organizations you can contact that will have additional qualifying opportunities". Follow that link and it will bring up a couple Project Linus opportunities. I just found another one in the Monadnock region of NH.

We are making the fleece no sew blankets, one per person. I am just waiting for the material to come from Joann.com, so hopefully we can start on them soon.

here in Ct they require 6 also. But they have to be 60" X 72", large enough to cover a twin bed and they have to be either two sided fleece or a quilt with front back and filling. That is just alot more than I can give right now, two would have been ok, but not 6 double sided.

If anyone is in the Philadelphia area, this organization is on the GAD list and they also collect the no sew fleece blankets for kids and teenagers.

We are here in CT, too. When I searched for opportunities in CT during early January, I did not find much. From a tip here, I found a Project Linus group that would accept mail-ins to IL. We had to do one blanket each and the sizes could vary; I think the recommended size was 48 x 60.
