Day 5 May 14th Blizzard Beach and Tow-Show!
Itinerary says rest day so its off to Blizzard Beach Lucys favourite water park. My favourite is TL and Kara doesnt really care where we go today as long as it doesnt include any walking about! Little does she know that the water parks involve as much leg work as the parks
I dont know why we keep insisting on calling them rest days!!
Usual fast pace in the morning not!!! Ducks were waiting for us, Sammy the Squirrel has now joined them for his free breakfast and Lucy is insisting that Lenny (the lizard) is definitely the one that she saw last night because hes only got half a tail!!
EMH at the water parks is brilliant and in that first hour you can: set up camp, get your lockers and do almost every slide. We always sit on the level just above the Ski Patrol Training Camp with 2 sun loungers in the sun and 1 in the shade for Lucy! See I am a good mother really? Everybodys factor 50 covered and off we go. Intended to do Summit Plummet
(honestly) but all of us just chickened out.
At 6pm, chucking out time, and all worn out, doughnuted up we trekked back home and guess what .. we didnt go to the Dig Site! We lay on the hammocks instead ..all 3 of us, together as a family! Bit of a squash but we managed it.
Now as everyone knows there will be no pictures of today, cause we took a disposable waterproof camera. But I will tell you that the sky was the bluest blue that I have ever seen, temperature in low 90s
and the only small downfall was the arrival en mass of the lovely, delightful LOVE-BUGS!! Now as serious sunbathers I can assure you these are a flipping pain in the butt. Just falling asleep and they land on you really annoying!!!
Quick change, over to PM for Karas daily dosage of chicken fajitas, Lucys chicken strips and I had soup! We decided to have a walk round the car park at the back of the Casitas to have a look at the Tow-Show. When Lucy had first said there was a Tow-Show on, I thought oh goody, I could do with a chiropodist to have a look at my feet!
All this walking is doing them no good at all! No Mum its TRUCKS!! So we weaved our way through Casitas 1 and 2
..Oh my goodness, there were the most fantastic trucks.
Andy would have loved it. In fact he should have come with us and just gone to the conventions!! We had the truck show for 6 days and then a Snap-on-Tools Convention just up his street.
Sorry the photos arent up to the usual standard I think, in all the excitement, I forgot to put the flash.
I will take this quiet day as an opportunity to fill you all in on CSR (so this is the point where if you are not interested you can sign out!!) It is absolutely lovely and so relaxing that you almost dont want to leave it during the day. The Dig Site is a brilliant size (stayed at CBR last year and the main pool was just too small). Lucy loved the slide and the lifeguards, who were consistent (which is important when there are such a lot of children) and reliable :arranged colouring competions and volleyball games with the children. There were always plenty of towels and the areas were kept clean.
How many towels do you need for 3 of you?
Sun-loungers are plentiful, no need to dash out and claim one at 6am. I have heard people say that there isnt much shade but I found there always to be a table and chairs somewhere in the shade to just take a breather. The Siesta Pool Bar served wonderful chips (sorry, fries), in fact better than the PM, whose fries were always cold. So much so that we stopped ordering them. We tried the burgers and chicken strips and they were all delicious. Bar staff were always friendly even asking to see the photos that we had bought off the rides!
The resort isnt really that big and it is a lovely walk in the evening. Plenty of golf trolleys to give you a lift if your poor feet just cant walk another yard!
The PM is a different experience the food is of a high standard and cooked fresh as you order it (avoid the fries!) however if sitting down together is high on your must list then forget it. Someones food was always ready before the rest not that it bothered us! The kids usually tried to get theirs; they would then go outside to eat overlooking the lake, leaving me to get mine and pay! Sometimes the queue to pay was rather long and on these occasions I would just take my food outside and then go back later to pay.
If you are going to CSR you must go and visit the ladies who make your toast in a morning they are hysterical, not sure whether they are sisters but they certainly look alike. I dont know whether they are supposed to be funny!!!
Just to say that they are very old and most times the toast was hit and miss either not brown at all or black!! Still thats part of being on holiday, isnt it; you just have to go with the flow!! Next year I promise to take a photo of the two ladies: they were a part of our holiday which we look back on with fond memories.
Anyway another banging (Karas word for lively) night and in bed for 10pm.
Somehow Lucy managed to stay awake to take this picture of Kara! .......
