So my entire office is on lockdown. ( Link above )My company takes up an entire block and we're unable to leave the building. Helicopters are circling telling people to remain indoors and lock their doors and windows. I live less than a minute from work. Chris is going to leave to get Ayden from school soon and go hang out at my moms for awhile until this area is clear. I hope it's over by the time I get off work. I have Ayden's conference today.

Well, it's sort of hard to find a job from jail .

Ok ladies--I'm going to get a little maudlin.

As some of you may remember, my all time favorite movie is "Steel Magnolias." I just loved the interaction of the women and their friendships through good times and bad. And with the Divas I always felt like we were the women in Steel Magnolias--even if we had little spats between each other (which have been very few) we always had each other's backs. And now, unfortunately, we've experienced tragedies too--job losses, illnesses, deaths--and yes, our beloved Dawn leaving us.

When I said I loved you all this morning I meant it--even if I don't see or talk to you all often I know that if I needed something my Divas would be there for me. I've been thinking a lot about Dawn and the other challenges the Divas have had to face recently and realized that we really have emulated the movie--and that at the end of the movie--even though there was a bittersweet feeling because of loss--the women who were friends went on with their lives and welcomed new faces (i.e., the baby) into their circle.

We will all get through this challenging time--and come out stronger and wiser and closer. And I can't wait to welcome new Divas to the group too--just think--a year ago none of us had met Dawnie in person! What an impact she made in just a few short months--not only on the group but on me personally (and I know on others of you too).

So chin up Divas--2010 has got to be a better year. And together I believe we can face any challenge!

I'm starting to feel a little better & know I'll get through this. For those who don't know, I've pretty much been DONE with my DH for a few years (yes, I had a moment of weakness & that's where Laila came from ). We haven't even lived together since 2006. But when I lost my job, I was sort of relying on his money so my kids didn't have to change there lifestyle too much.

I just have a lot to process in my mind. Including what direction I want to go with my DH. He's really selfish & if I say I want nothing to do with him, then he starts spending little to no time with the kids. Sometimes I think it would be better just to cut it off completely, but then the kids would suffer.

I'm just so confuzeled about my life .

P.S. I could seriously write a book about my life with my DH. If anyone ever has a few hours, I can dish all the drama!!!

My sister and my youngest nephew are coming to visit next month. I haven't seen them in almost 2 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My niece and oldest nephew were here during the summer...but not my sister and youngest nephew Bailey. SO stoked to see them!

Just saw your signiture...you are already going to be in DL just after our group is scheduled to go....are you really planning on going twice so close together? If so, more power to you!, just curious.

Ok about me....I am Cathy aka Goofycathy, ive had that name since my dad deemed me goofy..I guess I was about 3?!? maybe 4....growing up I was at DL almost every year for vacation while we lived in NorCal. I began taking my kids in 2004 with my ex-husband. Then we did the divorce thing and I moved up to Southern Oregon and remarried and my new husband and I took the kids to DL last november for our "honeymoon" (can it be called honeymoon if you take the kids?) either way, totally got him hooked. He wanted to book a trip the minute we came home...lol
The last time I went was in Sept of this year with my mom the week we found out she had terminal cancer, my dad asked what she wanted and her only wish was to go one more time with just her daughters
My dad booked the trip that weekend for sept 11, 12, and 13. My mom passed away October 26.

Anyway, back to present...last week the DL bug crept up and I started thinking about it again, it had been awile since I thought about it and at that point there was no stopping us. We made a visit to the DIS boards...loaded up on some TR's and food porn and we made the decision right there. We'll be there on March 7-13....woohoo!
so there it is in a nutshell...Ive been kinda lonely since I moved to Oregon, I left all my friends behind in Calif and the people here are NICE but not my friends. Hopefully I can make some new ones here on this board. If you want to know more about me you can add me as a friend on facebook, the link is somewhere on this page
Well...I just made some red velvet cupcakes so I'm off to go on a frosting spree and will be praying there is NO leftover frosting! bye girls....

Since you are new to us (and I know we have a couple other newbies right now) here is a bit about me!

My name is Sarah and I am 31 yo and live in Washington State with my husband and two kids (Ryder (4) and Kiera (17months)). I work an insane amount of overtime at my job and stay busy with kids swimming, picking up the house (never ending!), and family functions. I went on the first ever ladies trip that Beth started back in 2006 that went to WDW, missed the 1st trip to DL but was able to go last year! I was a travel agent for 3 1/2 years specializing in Disney and even did the onsite college of Disney Knowledge which was amazing! I got an annual pass for the first time this year and used on last years ladies trip, a trip with my family in September and I will be using it on this coming ladies trip before it expires....I deffinitely got my money's worth!

I have always wanted to try them and found a recipe that seemed easy that Paula Deen made..well the bottoms of the cupcake papers look kind of greasy adn when I unpeeled them they looked wayyyyy to dense!?!? not sure what I did wrong, followed the recipe to the T. On the other hand, the frosting DEEEEE-LISH! omg keep that away from me! holy canoli! good stuff...

My DH and I are both 35....

As you'll soon read...I have my hands full...I used to work full time for a veterinarian as an assistant but you'll see why Im home on a more full time basis....

My oldest will 15 on the 21st of this month (Luke, aka Luke Skywalker and no his name is NOT lucas like everyone asks) I brought him home from the hospital in a stocking Luke is super challenging, but in a great way. The Dr.s think he has aspergers which im not convinced of yet, and hes taking medications for turettes...its pretty mild though, no verbal outbursts, just some neck twitching, but the older he gets the more he is able to keep it under control. Hes honor roll in school and SUPER smart, sometimes it scares me! also has a case of add/adhd so on meds for that too, and ive recently found out that the kids get the add/adhd gene from me..sorry kids!

Jake is 12 but thinks he is a big bad man! all attitude! working on getting better grades, but for some reason 7th grade has been harder for him than the previous 6. He is typical jock boy, played his second season of football this year, hes a center and loves the sport. Also does BMX, but on a more of a part-time scedule right now because of the weather and the track is outdoors (brrr)

My youngest and only daughter is Katelyn (7) She is so typical girl...loves the color pink and loves to bake, loves hannah montana, loves boys and all that stuff, also diagnosed with add/adhd, on meds which help alot with her concentration at school. Katelyn also has had 3 open heart surgeries in her short life, but as of now, all problems have been corrected until she is 17, then she will have to have a valve replaced. The Dr's have never said she couldnt enjoy life like any other kid so we have NEVER held her back!
ok Ive written enough, im getting tired of sitting AND ive got a load of laundry that keeps screaming at me to fold it...grrrr always ruining my fun time! lol

Cathy hi and welcome! My name is Kelly and I am 42 and have belonged to the group for a little over a year now. I went on the trip last year with my mom and we are going again this year. This is a GREAT group of gals and if you go you will have a blast! The best way to get to know everyone is to sit back and join in the convos! Then when you go you can put a face to the names.

You know Cheryl I have been thinking about Dawn a lot as well, esp since her service was yesterday and I am just sad that all our new divas won't get to meet her. She made everything SO special and magical and she was just so fun! Not that others aren't but you know what I mean. I will never forget when I went to the candy buffet and how she had decorated all the candies with the princess stuff. Plus all the work she did on the scavy hunt. She will TRULY be missed! She was a larger than life personality and I still am having a hard time accepting that she won't be there in Feb!

Anywho I am back from picking the girls up from school and need to get my rear in gear here in a few hours to go to my Christmas party. You guys have a good evening!!

I fell last night in my bathroom. Slipped on some water on the floor and went down with a big thud!! I'm okay but I was trying to grab the counter to keep from falling and I think I did more harm than good. My lower back hurts now. Ugh.

We went to DL for a couple hours and there was no lines for anything, it was fantastic. The longest wait time was 40 minutes for Autopia, everything after that was 20 minutes for Nemo.

So I met an old friend at DL yesterday. She wanted to go because she has an AP this year - I am really going to miss the b-day promo in 2010 because it brought so many people to DL APs who normally don't get them.

She hadn't been to DL for a while so this was her first time seeing the Pirates with Depp, the NBC overlay (showed her the monkey bride!). I had never seen IASW decorated for Christmas before. And just as we stepped into the boat, all the lights for Small World came on! (like magic).

The castle lighting was the highlight... really incredible. Vicki had given me tips on that and the IASW that made our visit special. I looked and looked for my friend for the Mennorah <sp?> that was supposed to be in a window on Main St but never found it.

Tried to see Tiana's Showboat from Cafe Orleans but a CM and others (not with her) stood on the elevated part that blocked our way. We had asked our waiter if people would do that and he said no. (the park was not crowded)
So if you go, stand by the railing for the best view, forget Cafe Orleans (plus they gave me real coffee instead of decaf, so I was awake until 5:30 AM)

Outside of one CM who handled an AP discount issue poorly (PM me if you want details), it was a good day in the park - pretty much walking on all rides.

Oh, and when we went on Alice, the parade went by and Buzz waved and pointed at us, as we were right by him in our Alice car. When our car came outside as it does, who should be right next to us, at our eye level, but Santa! He was high on top of his float. We were so surprised, he started laughing, then we were laughing and waving.... You couldn't have planned that. (hmm, actually, I did just tell you how to plan that... get on the ride when Buzz's float is coming!)
