I just now heard about the mess at DL with the suspicious package and all. Anyone hear from Mel or Katie? Did they get caught in that mess?
Gee, I guess it wasn't a good day to compare crowds to last week! :scared1: :rolleyes1 :rotfl: Oh, well.

Just remember that this weekend is also "cheer competition" weekend, so there will be off and on crowds of cute perky pre-teen and teen girls in the parks. LOL I was thinking, watching the updates of the evacuation today, that we would have been getting ready to start the scavvy hunt around that time and it would have been a whole lot easier! LOL

EEEEK...so if this weekend is cheer wknd, will it be next year??

Well guess where I am going tomorrow? Yep....I'm off to the land again. LOL!! We have a funeral to go to down south on Sunday, and Dave wanted to meet up with our DS Derrick at the Pomona Swap Meet tomorrow, so I talked him into dropping me off, before he goes to the meet. I plan on checking out the crowd for ya all. Hee hee! I'm going to meet up with Katie and maybe Kerri who I have not met, but did do an exchange with one year. :goodvibes
How did that go with the craziness this morning? popcorn::
Your are most welcome
So, you have an intense drive as well ;).
It's quite the drive, but always well worth it! :goodvibes

My friends are down there since one of them has a daughter and step-daughter competing. We were texting back and forth this morning and the girls were bummed to be locked out.

I think the weekends change since it was not happening during our trip last year.

My parents arrived in Anaheim a few hours ago. Last month they bid on a Disneyland vacation package from the Make-a-Wish Food and Wine event and won. I tried giving them lots of tips (and many reminders to use FP), but I think I may have confused them :goodvibes It does make me proud that they are spending their 25th anniversary in the Land! oh tear. :rotfl:

Actually, we did have the cheer competition last year. We starting seeing the uniforms late on Friday (with girls in curlers!) and saw them periodically during the weekend. If I remember correctly, the bulk of their competition was Sat and Sun so they weren't really in the parks during the day. I "think" there is another HUGE cheer competition later in the season that really affects the parks. This one didn't affect it as much I thought it was going to last year.

Hopefully we will hear back from Mel and Katie.

Have to say - would have loved to been at DL MM yesterday!! I read that if you were already in the park, they let you stay (you couldn't leave) but just didn't let anyone else in. So for another 3 hours, the crowds would have been super low!!

Yeah - the scavy hunt would have had NO crowds!! What a thought!

I'm back and survived the bomb scare.

LOL... Actually by the time I arrived it had been lifted. But the lines for the trams and security were crazy!:scared1::scared1::scared1: People were walking in from the Mickey structure verses waiting for the trams. Katie told me that is what she did. Then she had to wait in DTD along with everyone else. :scared1: I was very fortunate in bypassing all of that mess, by going through the DCA entrance from the Grand. Only five people ahead of me. :cool1: :goodvibes Katie was already in DCA where I met up with her.

Now to the crowds? We really did not see that many groups of girls. Hard to tell if the threat kept that many people away? Yes, it was busy, but not as busy as it was for us last Friday. I think everyone stayed around knowing that the parks were going to open. Also Disney made good by announcing that they would stay open till 1:00am and had 3 showings of Fantasmic and World of Color.

Katie, what are your thoughts?

Ladies, I would like to announce that Bridget will be taking over the reigns for the scavvy committee. :goodvibes :cool1:

So from now on, she will be your announcer and first contact person. :thumbsup2

YAY Bridget!:cheer2:

I also wanted to comment on the hunt of this past year.

I absolutely loved everyone's outfits and names. :cloud9: It was hard for us to decide on the winners. A big thank you to all of you for really getting into the spirit!

We made a few mistakes and we are sorry for them. Seems like no matter how much you go over things, something gets over looked. One thing we noticed right away, was you had no idea how much each set was worth in points. That was a mix up on our part. Next year that won't happen again.

We had some wrong answers gleaned from the Internet. LOL?... And so on.

Every year you learn something, and hopefully you take it from there.

Anywhos, we all want to thank you again for a fantabulous year! :cheer2::cheer2:

I'm so glad that everything worked out. I would love to go on the trip next year but I'll be 17 :scared1:

Interesting events this weekend.
Sunday of the trip, Alison and I noticed the Disney police had surrounded an abandoned stroller on Main Street (near partners statue) with park benches. There were 4 police standing guard in front of it and a few more conversing and using walkie talkie. Later we noticed a dog being led over to the area. Glad they take things seriously.
We have had similar moments at Mall of America, they do a big test with a lock down once a year and I have watched them surround abandoned bags. They also have bomb sniffing dogs.

Here are the sprouts today, amazed at how much they grow in one day!

Off to Target, sis needs some time away from her "nut house". I could hear her boys playing, laughing and tearing around in the background when she called. :lmao:

I remember the cheer teams too last year......the crowds were bigger on the weekend but not anything like we saw this year......much more manageable.

Melody  thank you for your hard work & dedication to this group!!! Sorry to hear your stepping down from leading the committee, but I think you deserve to take it a little easier!! Yay for Bridget!!! :woohoo: She'll do awesome!! As for mistakes and such.....this hunt is for fun....its not like there's a big money prize at the end. So don't sweat over boo-boo's or forgotten things..... it's no big thing!! :goodvibes

A HUGE thanks for everyone that made this trip so much fun for such a big group!!! The committees, our leader (Beth), the tees (Melody), our dining ressies (Bridget) & for all the Divas in attendance!!

We're getting ready to head out & go to Portland. Michayla's pre-op appt. is at 7:45am & we're there all day....ending the day with a sedated Echo. Surgery is Tuesday.....so please be thinking of us & praying for her!!! I'll have my laptop most of the trip (Tues will probably be the only day I don't)....so you'll have to watch FB for updates, as I can do those from my phone.

Have a great week ladies!! By the way, I've started my TR from our weekend.....Day One is up!!

Hello, ladies!! :) This weekend is flying by way too fast.

I remember talking to you, and someone else that I can't remember now, that the cheer competition didn't effect the parks as much as you thought. Lots of little girly-girls running around, but no real increase in line waits.
I also remember joking that the girls were all too busy checking out the guys to go on rides. ;)

Glad Disney made things better by closing later and such. That was nice of them.
And glad to hear it was not as busy.

That's cool! Yay Bridget!

So, who's the rest of the hunt committee? Do you have that info?

And thank you to all of you for your hard work. I was so impressed and I could tell a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into making the hunt happen.

I'm so glad that everything worked out. I would love to go on the trip next year but I'll be 17 :scared1:
:scared1: Only 17? Aw, you're still just a babe. ;)

Have fun at Target! Don't spend too much! LOL

Manageable would be nice. :) I ended up leaving the park after the hunt on Saturday. I'm spoiled after growing up going to DL, I admit it, and I just refused to deal with the massive crowds we had.

I'll be saying a prayer for Michayla, and thinking of you.

I noticed some of them had points next to them and some didn't. Since it was my first time I didn't know any better. Guess I should have said something.:rotfl:

Well I can tell you where my wrong answers came from...we spent about 10 minutes downstairs at the Hungry Bear guessing answers before handing our paperwork in! So if anything strange showed up on ours, it was purely guessing with no internet involved. I figured we could just guess, since it didn't appear that points were deducted for wrong answers. I'm sure some of our guesses had you scratching your heads.:rotfl2:

BTW, I'm still intrigued by the movie on the checker board in the Jungle Cruise line question. We stared and stared at that thing and couldn't come up with anything, other than a lion on it, so Lion King guess. What the heck was it?:confused3

It's C-3PO from Star Wars! Oddly enough, lol. He's not easy to see but he's there.

haha, we guessed Raja - and I never did get another chance to go back and really look. Next time....

I sat outside in the beautiful weather most of today just grading away....I still have quite a ways to go so I better get back to it. It seems that most of my students who were starting to improve with their writing have taken some steps back (sadly for them, quarter report cards are going out :sad2: )

Laurie~ Good luck and prayers headed your way

A week ago at this time I was driving home from Disneyland. Wish I was driving back to Disneyland already. Had a great time on the trip.

Thank you to all those who work so hard to organize everything for the trip.

It is hard to plan a time that is good for everyone. As long as it is not the "ski week" which I never heard of getting a week off in February until this year. (A co-workder knew exactly what it was) I have been on a predidents day weekend in the past that wasn't this crowded (It is so hard to predict the crowds.) The weather was nice a little warm but you can never predict the weather (a day later this year there was rain:confused3)

Don't know when my next day trip back is but I am trying to talk my family to go this summer for a couple of days. I know the heat, the crowds, am I crazy. My cousin his wife and daughter are coming from Germany this summer and they are going for a couple of days (there daughter is almost four and loves the princesses) So I am telling everyone else we should all plan at least one day all togehter.

Well back to my photopass pictures my computer was taking a long time to load them earlier (I was almost done now I need to find where I left off)

Jessica do you have a picture of that. I am going to have to look next time I go. Did not see it. I think we answered lion king or simba (can't remember which) No where close to C-3PO :confused3

I'm tired. It's been a yard work weekend here. The comfy patio chairs are out of the garage and on the patio. The plants have all be pruned of dead stuff and trimmed back or pulled out. The controller for the drip system is dead, so we need to get a new one ($50- ouch), and it looks like 2 of the drip lines broke off this winter so I need to plug the holes and run new lines for those pots. We have a 3rd line that the dripper end is broken, but that's an easy fix, just pop a new dripper on it. Other than that, not much is going on here, which is probably a good thing. LOL

I do have a photo - I'll try and post it tomorrow. I'm downloading something that's taking forever right now so not a good time to open up Photoshop, lol.

When you get a chance, could you make me a siggy that kind of goes with the other girls? :goodvibes

Of course! And I did see you mention it when I asked the other day. I got kind of distracted though - too much going on :goodvibes I'll try and get them done tomorrow.
