I get to have 4 days off in a row! Woooohooooo!
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Enjoy your time off!

I had a great day, and I hope everyone is recovering from the holiday whirlwind!
I'm all recovered and ready for more! LOL Seriously, yesterday I was so stuffed I swore I didn't want to eat again for a week. Um yeah, that didn't last long. :rotfl:

Okay my son almost died when the "Rick-Roll" thing happened. I had no idea why he was sooo excited until he explained the whole "Rick-Roll" thing to me. I'm so out of the loop & my kids have to explain things to me :rolleyes1.
:rotfl2: I saw it and ran to get my son so he could watch it. LOL
Have fun at the movies.

No crying at Disneyland, except when the MSEP starts!!
Can I cry when I get my souvenir total in the gift shop?

We have our CA friends coming to stay with us for the next couple days so I'll probably be scarce. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend and doesn't max out their credit cards. :)
Glad you got to see Bolt after all. Have fun with your friends.
Oh, and now you tell me about the credit cards. :rolleyes1

I love the new siggie emblems some of you ladies have.:lovestruc How can I get one?
Just click on it and it will take you to the website which is **************. :thumbsup2

Hello ladies!! Happy Black Friday! Anyone find any fabulous deals? (I saw Amy's post! Yay!)

Noelle and I were at Kohls this morning at 4 a.m.!! But it was kind of fun. She complained a little, but overall I think she had a good time so perhaps a new tradition has been born.
From there we went to Target but only bought a few things. And we went to Justice for Girls, but even at Buy 1 Get 1 Free, I still think that store is too expensive.

I've taken down all my Thanksgiving stuff and added the rest of the Christmas decorations. Now we are just enjoying a lazy day here at home. :)

I guess so, I try not to think about it! Actually, I spend alot at the character warehouse, too! That's why I need my 10% discount!!

My DDs and DH went this morning; I have no idea when they went or when they got back, I was still sleeping :cloud9: But I see lots of bags in the family room; some of them went back to bed and are still sleeping!

Time to get the decorations out!! :santa:

Ok Beth....not only did I never get the Halloween and Thanksgiving stuff out, but now I need to focus so I don't miss Christmas! You are soo organized!:worship:

I decided to run out this am to see if by chance I could get the 3 things that were on my list and not available on line. I didn't get up early, just my normal time, so I figured everything would be gone by the time I got there. Went to Target first, of course the cheap tv's were gone which was probably fine anyway. We can wait on that. The other 2 things were the twin screen portable dvd ($88) and a razor scooter ($22). I went to the dvd area first and figured for sure they would be gone, then I see a man and women standing and talking, the man is holding one of them. I look on the shelf and see mostly empty space and one left!! So I pick it up and start to walk away when I hear the women loudly say "well I guess I'm NOT going to get one for my daughter too then". I really didn't want to end up on the news due to an altercation, so I simply kept walking and continued shopping. She was clearly upset....and I guess there aren't formal rules to this whole "black friday etiquette" but I would think if you are thinking about buying something you should pick it up??:confused3

Anyways, I felt a little bad after that but it's not like I charged them or shoved or anything. I mean it was just sitting there and they already had one in their hands. Geez!! Am I crazy?

Anyhoo, they had plenty of the scooters so I grabbed one, picked up a few $5.99 DVD's (they have a lot of good ones, 27 dresses, PS I love you, Indy, Golden Compass, The Holiday, etc) and got out of there. No lines, and I was probably in and out in 15 minutes.

Then I thought I would stop in to Kohl's and see what they had for gift items. Picked up some really soft pj's for my grandma and a purse that was 60% off for my sister-in-law, then go to get in line and OH MY GOODNESS the line is wrapping all the way around the store. And barely moving! There was no way I was going to stand in line for hours at Kohl's, not even for 2 good deals. I'm sure I can find pj's and purses on sale another day.

Then I went to starbucks and they had someone handing out samples of some new things. I tried the espresso truffle drink and the cranberry delight bar or something like that. They were both scrumptious and the sample hit the spot so I came home. ;)

Oh and to add to the comments about kids who are slow to talk. My youngest barely said anything at all until she was 2. We took her to DL for the first time and she started talking on the trip (things like "ride" and "princess" and "biddy mouse" (mickey mouse). She turns 3 today and is still not much of a talker. She can but she chooses not to most of the time...lol.

So..I am recommending a disney trip as speech therapy ;)

Time to get the decorations out!! :santa:
Have fun decorating!!!!

NO! Not at all. If she was debating about getting one, she should have had it in her hand or cart while she was thinking about it. Everyone knows that. LOL So totally her fault. You did the right thing. :thumbsup2

Kohls is always a zoo if you wait too long. That's how it was last year because we got there in the middle of the day. We saw the line, put down the few items we had and walked out. That's why we were there at 4 this morning. :rotfl:

Now go get those Christmas decorations out!! :santa: ;)

I would love to, but I have to sit for an ethics exam tomorrow night, so I am supposed to be studying. Then I can get through tomorrow and Sunday can be "pull out the tree and decorate day". Of course I'm not getting any studying done on here..lol. This is when being in an online program isn't a good thing. Totally my fault of course, you guys are just much more fun than Plato and Socrates.

See that's what you get for having drive, and ambition and goals and all that stuff. You should be a bum like me! :lmao:

Oh, and more fun then Plato and Socrates?! Ummm, thanks. I think. :rotfl2:

I miss Black Friday shopping, I would go if I had someone with me. I'm not one to brave the crowds alone.

I did some shopping online this morning.

I don't thinkg you are crazy for that. I agree if it's on the shelf, it's up for grabs. It's the people that take things out of my cart that get me mad!

Can I write off a DLR trip that is used as speech therapy? :thumbsup2 That would make it really nice!

DS watched Blues Clues this morning with the biggest grin. He really liked it, and when Mr Salt walked onto the screen, he waved and said "Hi". It was cute.

Beth, were you the one that mentioned Breakfast Lasagna? I want the recipe, it sounds really interesting.

I'm glad everyone survived the day yesterday. Today is my 3rd anniversary. 3 years ago today, I was at WDW getting married. We had dinner at the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert's. A Disney Makeup Artist did my makeup and hair. We had breakfast in the castle with the princesses. My DH even wore a matching shirt with me proclaiming it as our wedding day. What a nice trip we had. Happy anniversary to me!!

Next year, you should have Thanksgiving in Vegas. Then you and I can shop all day the next day. :thumbsup2

I'm glad your DS liked Blues Clues. It's a great show.

It was me that mentioned breakfast lasagna. I'll post the recipe in a sec. I need to go find it.

Your wedding day at WDW sounds just perfect. I love that bottom picture of you two. So pretty! Have a great anniversary. What are your plans?

Heather, here is the recipe. I got it from the Disney Magazine. It's the one they use for breakfast at the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom.
I've eaten there before and it really does taste the same to me.

There are three parts to it. It sounds hard, but it's really not. Just make sure you read through it all first.

For the Pastry Cream:
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups milk
6 egg yolks
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Custard:
2 eggs
1 cup heavy cream
2/3 cup half and half
1 tablespoon brandy (I don't use this)
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar

For the Casserole:
3 waffles (You can make your own or use frozen. I've tried it with both, and you can't really tell the difference. If you use frozen, toast them. And I usually end up using four.)
3 cups of pound cake, crumbled
4 pancakes (same as waffles, either homemade or frozen will work)
2 bananas, sliced
1/2 cup raspberries (frozen)
1/2 cup blueberries (frozen)
1/4 cup brown sugar

For the Garnish:
1 cup berries (fresh)

To prepare the pastry cream:
Whisk sugar, flour, salt, and milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture begins to thicken, 5-8 minutes.

Meanwhile in a small bowl, beat the egg yolks slightly. Stir in a small amount of the hot mixture into the yolks to temper them. Then pour the egg mixture into the milk mixture. Stirring constantly, cook over med-low heat until the mixture thickens, 3 to 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Cool completely, then chill until needed.

Make custard by whisking all ingredients in a bowl until fully incorporated. Chill until needed.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a buttered 9x9 inch baking pan, layer ingredients in this order:
the waffles
3/4 cup of the pound cake
half of a sliced banana
1/4 cup raspberries
1/4 cup blueberries
1 1/2 cups of pound cake
half of a sliced banana
1/4 cup raspberries
1/4 cup blueberries
the pancakes
and the remaining pound cake.

Press down on the layers to pack firmly. Slowly add the custard mix until the entire lasagna is saturated.

Bake for 60 minutes. (cook until the internal temp reaches 165 degrees)

Top the lasagna with the pastry cream and a sliced banana. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the top. Place under the boiler until the sugar is just browned. (this happens quickly) Garnish with fresh berries. :)

It's so good. Ruben and Adam love it. But it's quite rich, so I only make it on special days like Christmas or Easter.

OMG, I was just over reading on the budget board and read about a worker in one Walmart who was trampled to death today!!

Here is a snippet of the article.

Dozens of store employees trying to fight their way out to help the man were also getting trampled by the crowd. Witnesses said that even as the worker lay on the ground, shoppers streamed into the store, stepping over him.
Kimberly Cribbs, who witnessed the stampede, said shoppers were acting like "savages."

"When they were saying they had to leave, that an employee got killed, people were yelling 'I've been on line since yesterday morning,"' she said. "They kept shopping."

The 34-year-old man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 6 a.m., police said. The exact cause of death has not been determined, and the man's name was not released pending notification of family.

What is wrong with people??? I can't imagine that. So sad. :sad2:

I can. It's getting worse and worse every year, and is just another reason why I'm boycotting consumerism at Christmas. I'm proud to say that I have bought NOTHING today, and don't plan to buy a darn thing other than some clean water, some goats, a llama and some ducks to help the poor.

Even more tragedy (2 dead) in Palm Desert, CA:

I feel sad that people have become so callous and uncaring and selfish.

I saw that article when I went to check my email on aol. So very very sad!! I don't understand people sometimes. I mean really, so much insanity just to save a few bucks?

I'm getting ready for my shift (3:30p-11:30p) and I'm trying to think positive but I'm kind of freaking out at how crazy the store will be and trying NOT to get grumpy at it.

BREATHE CRISTABEL BREATHE!

Ok, I have to get dressed. Wish me luck!

That's scary. I was just wondering what would happen if someone opened fire in one of the stores on BF when it's wall to wall people!

About the no-buying thing, I did look at that youtube link you posted. I'm a little confused though. So you mean you really aren't buying presents for your kids? And they are all ok with that?

Cristabel, good luck hon! I've worked retail on BF and it's craziness!!

Amy, baking is fun. I'd rather bake then cook any day. As evidenced by my waist line. LOL

Sarah, HI!
