Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

Hi Ladies!

Sorry I've been sort of MIA on the thread. I've been doing other stuff on the boards.

Yesterday, I spent the latter part of the day at Disneyland. I first went to the character warehouse to look for little inexpensive gifts to put in the Fish Extenders on the Podcast cruise, but ended getting myself a t-shirt & a cute jacket instead. Then I went to the Company D store on a friend pass (a coworker's wife works at the Grand Californian & they give me a pass every now and then :woohoo:), so I did find a bunch of pins for $3 each, and some clippy magnets that say Disneyland w/Pooh & Tigger. I also got tshirts for the kids. The store is kind of incognito & I passed it twice before finding it.

By the time I was done, it was after 1:30, so I headed for the parks. By this time I was starving, so I got in line for a yummy corndog. I had visions of raspberry lemonade slushies going through my mind, but after the corndog & water I was full.

Okay - this is turning into a trip report, & not meant to, so went to the Bibbidy Bobbity Boutique, took pics, talked to the "Fairy Godmothers in Training" and just admired the place. It is so pretty in there.

I DID ask them if they did anything for 18+ year olds, and they said yes, and I told them that there might be a group interested next year. I have to admit that I did enjoy the looks on their faces when they asked how many & I said, "oh, 30-40." heh heh They said that they take reservations up to 60 days in advance, and two per reservation. I have a thread going with pictures.

Oh, and I saw 17Again at the AMC theaters -- enjoyed the movie. Got home & told Kelly I saw it, and she said she did, too. And we BOTH said that we couldn't understand why people like Zac Efron until we saw this movie! We were :rotfl: that we thought the same thing & then high-5'd each other. lol

I spent today in the 90º weather selling raffle tickets for our church fiesta at the end of May.

I'm hoping that THIS is our heat wave & we have COOLER weather next weekend for MouseAdventure.

Oh, welcome to the new gals joining us next year - awesome!

H

How fun! I soo want to do that!!

Jordan wants to see that movie.

I would love to go!! It sounds like fun times :thumbsup2

Well, we'll have to see of those that will be there on Saturday, who wants to meet up and for what. I want to make sure I see everyone while I am there. :thumbsup2

Mary Jo, sounds like you had a fun time! Thanks for the info on BBB. That would be fun.

I woke up way to early ladies and am falling asleep. I'll chat with ya'll tomorrow. Night!

I had to take a leave of absence from work, I lost 17 pounds in a little less than two weeks and apparently injured my cartilidge around my diaphragm from the coughing. I was miserable!

Oh gosh, how awful!

When I get sick like that, why do I generally GAIN weight? Not sure I've damaged cartilage (then again, when do I see an MD to get a diagnosis?) but I've coughed so much and so hard that I would cry when I felt the urge to cough, so I know you were not having a good time.

That is so sad. My Dad--one of the most brilliant people I knew--had Alzheimer's. It was terrible--he died four years ago. the last nine months he was in a nursing home because he couldn't walk--it almost killed my Mom. They had promised never to put the other in a nursing home when they were first married.

One day I went in and said "Dad--do you know who I am?" and he looked at me quizzically and said "Well, you look familiar . . . . " and I said--"well, then, that's good enough!" He died in January--the Christmas Eve before that he knew both me and my Mom by name. I called it our Christmas present from God.

:hug::hug::hug:

My grandma lived for years and years after starting down the road to Alzheimers, and my aunt was with her 24/7 for way too long. My mom and their brother finally convinced her to get some respite care and things got better, but it was still so so hard. My grandma went completely Zen and in the moment, she was lovely and sweet almost no matter what, and she could enjoy the exact same thing (a card, a continuing visit, etc) over and over and over b/c she'd forget about it then be reminded, forget, remind, etc etc.

I was too immature to deal with it in person, so the last time I spoke with her was when she talked about me as though I were still 4 years old...she lived nearly 10 years after that.

There were only two times she was ever mean like they used to think Alzheimers was like...she bit her favorite orderly (she went into a nursing home after breaking her hip and being away from her home long enough for the "reverse mortgage" to kick in) when my aunt was away for my mom's funeral...and another time when she had a roommate who was mentally sound but physically problematic, and the roommate was going ON about my grandma and how sad it was for her mind to be gone like that...my grandma GROWLED at her roommate, LOL. She was a kick in the pants, even from the depths of Alzheimers.

Same here!!

I just finished my logic test & now I am watching DH.

I take a relatively high dose of Ambien CR every night and it just doesn't do much for me anymore. Maybe its because I'm so high strung. I just laid in bed for about 30 min and not even close.

I enjoyed watching him on a recent Saturday Night Live...

My friend Amanda takes that. She has some funny conversations with her...

Mary Jo, good news! It's going to drop 30 degrees (seriously) for your MA!!! You are so lucky.:yay:

Hey Janelle, I was wondering where you were! I'm so sorry to hear about what you went through. Sounds painful. I'm glad you are better now.

I want to go!! I'll be there on my birthday Oct. 24 and was thinking of going there to celebrate. Either there or Cafe Orleans.
Anyone wanna celebrate with me? I'm open to either place. I love Cafe Orleans, but really want to try the BBQ.

:

Beth, of course we want to celebrate with you! BBQ it is!

I cannot sleep for the life of me!

Try milk... warm...

I enjoyed watching him on a recent Saturday Night Live...

Me too. He's one of the new young hunks that I do get (unlike Shia LeBouf....)

Step: :grouphug:

Phew!!! I thought I was going to be sleeping under the bus!!! Glad I get in the house!!!!!

Yeah :woohoo: Amy gets to sleep in the house!

Cheryl

Let me know if you need any cheap vet supplies...like fluids!!!!

AmySue

You are such a sweetie!

I would love to do the BBQ. It looks yummy. I am going to try to convince James to go there on my birthday in May. I will let you know how it is.

Sounds like you had a great day! And hopefully it will be cooler next Sunday. I don't know if I can handle this heat.

Gosh you ladies were so chatty today, I posted earlier today and just now checked back and had to read over ten pages!:sad2:

Welcome back Dawn, I LOVE YOU TOO!;) Will see you Friday night. What can I bring to the slumber party? Cheryl, just let me know...

And a really big welcome to Bridgette and Courtney. Two really cute young girls who will fit in perfectly with all of us, but especially Wendy, Sarah, Cristabel and my very own Brianne.:cutie:

And I posted on the Hotel Menage Thread. As many of you ladies recall, I stayed there for the 2008 Divas meet and speak first hand of my experience. I also have a 22 yo DD and can tell you she did not have any debit cards prior to age 16. I think 16 was a turning point for her and that is when the bank recommended it. But I agree with Debbie and Dawn's comments. Posting website references and acting like you "know" is not what these boards are for or about.

Finally, as I planned my October trip around BETH'S B-day, reserved the Hojo with others JUST for this event, of course I will be at YOUR BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!:banana::banana:

Night all :)

Hi Linda!!! Can't wait till we kick butt at MA! We better bring it! :woohoo:

On another board, someone said that their 14-year old daughter has her own debit card and that it is quite common for teenagers to have their own debit cards these days.

Is this true????????

I don't think any of the major banks would give a minor a debit card. I asked WAMU and they said I had to be 18 years old to get my own debit card but they could do a joint checking account with my parents.

Hmmm, I think Cristabel is in Ventura, but not sure.

Nope, sorry. I live in Santa Clarita

Yeah, that's what James says ;) I'm a bad bunny.

Oh, geez, MoOOOOOoooom

I want to see that movie but neither my mom or sister will see it with me! I'm going to ask my friend Steph, she'll see any goofy teen movie with me.

Your Brianne is a very pretty girl! She's my age too. Well, a little older. I'll be 22 in a couple weeks. :)

I have heard good reviews. But am still on the fence. But I love me some good BBQ!

Same here!! On the fence we both sit!

What exactly is that? I have never heard of anything like that before to be honest, and I have been in the health care field for 14 years. And how can one self diagnosis themselves? I personally wouldn't say I have a diagnosis if it wasn't actually diagnosised. That just seems odd to me. People shouldn't say they have something if they don't. Self diagnosis is not a good practice.

I'm curious too. Google let me down today and I couldn't find anything.

Me either. Couldn't find anything on google. I even used my work resources, still couldn't find anything. I also asked some physicians and specialist at work, and no one has ever heard of it before. So I am wondering how someone came to that diagnosis that doesn't seem to exist.

Greeeetings Ladies!!!

I'm back, (bet ya didn't even notice) :lmao:

I'm probably 300 pages, or at least 3,000 posts behind. I got REALLLLY sick at the end of March and wasn't able to sit at the computer for weeks. I ended up with an upper respiratory infection that really just knocked everything out of me. I had to take a leave of absence from work, I lost 17 pounds in a little less than two weeks and apparently injured my cartilidge around my diaphragm from the coughing. I was miserable!

Anyway I'm back and am still planning on making the 2010 DIS trip!!
I couldn't figure out how to add my picture to page 1.

Hey Callie....since you cropped your picture from our group shot...can you just crop me for mine?? :worship:

Hope you all are doing well, Now that I'm back you might get tired of me!. :grouphug:
That sounds terrible! I'm glad you're finally feeling better!

Has anyone been to the Big Thunder BBQ place yet?? I'm thinking it might be fun to go there in October (if it's still open???).

My sis-in-law went to the BBQ last week. She is very picky, and she liked it. She said the food was really good, as was the service. The only complaint was that the chicken they served was thighs, and they all like breasts. Other than that, everything was A-OK! And she said you get to choose which typle of cupcake you want them to bring out for you. I guess there is a choice of five or so flavors.
So we would definitely be interested in hitting the BBQ for Beth's B-day party!

But I looked wks ago.

Molly, I love the story about your Grandma growling. I want to be feisty when I 'm old. With luck, I won't be in your Grandma's state of health, but I think I will be saucy!!

Oh, and I get you about not being mature enough to deal with your Gma's illness. My dad was hospitalized for 9 months, on a respirator and everything, and I never went home to see him. I live 2.5 hours away at that time. I called my mom daily, sent him stuff, but didn't come home until he was getting better. I still feel very small inside for my immaturity, but it was where I was at that time.

Are you serious!! Woo-hoo, I HATE hot weather.....cooler will be so awesome!!!

Hi Linda!!! Can't wait till we kick butt at MA! We better bring it! :woohoo:

Stace--your optimism scares me!!!!:scared1::scared1:
