Molly and Heather, check you PMs! If you don't have one from me, let me know and I'll re-send it.

That's so funny about the bird watching also! Who knew it was genetic??:confused3

I know!

My brother even does it, and has refuses to have anything to do with our dad's family. Not since my dad introduced his third child as his "oldest son" while at my wedding...brother could have forgiven him for all the other things he's done, if our dad had ever tried, but that was the final straw.

But even my brother notices birds more than your average human. I don't tell him why he's doing it, he would go all stony on me (if you watch Burn Notice, my brother is exactly like, even in looks, the main character in terms of emotion-expressing), but still, it's funny.

Does anyone have any good book recommendations?? I know I will have my trashy magazines for the flight (thanks, Molly :wave2:), but I'm thinking an actual book to read (if I can find the time) would be great for relaxing in the evenings.... I've already read all the Twilight series and I've been working so darn hard lately that I have no idea what book(s) to get. Any ideas????

There are lots of yummy non-chocolate candies!! :thumbsup2

They make non-chocolate candy?????? (seriously, I think I'm going to have to stop tonight and get some chocolate chip cookie dough)

Interesting to hear that the throat stuff and canker sore stuff happens to others.

As a kid my mom kept raw peanuts around. SHE could control herself with them. I never have been able to, and when I eat too many raw peanuts I get canker sores too. Doesn't happen when I control how many I eat, and doesn't happen with non-raw peanuts.

However, if I take Lysine, I get over the problems and can eat more. :upsidedow

I have no problem with nuts--I react with canker sores to Swiss cheese.

:rotfl: That makes me laugh for some reason.

Glad I could brighten an otherwise stressful day for you! (It is a weird thing to react to--isn't it? No other cheese--just swiss. The only thing I can think of is whatever enzyme makes the holes I must be allergic to.)

OH gosh, I called like last March, and they told me then that it would be installed in August. I think they install them like quarterly. I will post a picture of my button Disign as soon as I can. It turned out so cool. Those people on the Disign board are just amazingly generous. They also made a shirt disign for my family and friends tirp with 14 of us. I will post that too since it really turned out cool.

But anyway I digress. As usual LOTS going on. WHEW!

Well gosh Kelly, you have gotten so much response today that already expresses everything I was going to say. Just hang in there, and you and Shane will have a really great celebration first chance you get.

It's always fun to go and visit yet it's so wonderful to go back home to your family.:goodvibes

Hope Everyone has a great week.:flower3:
Sounds wonderful Dawn! You know how to celebrate life lady. Just love that about you! If you and your Mom are still hanging out with John Wayne at 3:15, you can ride with me:)

I heard some sad news on the radio tonight. Do you all remember that little boy who got stuck under the "Roger Rabbit" ride? Brandon Zucker died today.

How incredibly sad.

:rotfl2: Those were great. Thanks.

I completely agree. Thanks for the laugh Capri. Speaking of laughing...Did any of you watch that video I posted of the old lady trying to get ready for digital TV??

So now that Feb is just around the corner.....is anyone planning on doing anything for V-Day?

Well, yes, in case I haven't mentioned it gleefully about a million times....I'm going to DLR with my family and 9 other family and friends.:cool1:

Heather, you have gotten such great responses from so many already. The only thing that I would add is just to go easy on yourself. You are really going through a grieving process, in addition to the stress of trying to make all the right decisions for the future. The one thing I know for sure is that children are resilient, and Nathan will fulfill his destiny because he has you as a very loving Mom to help him. I have not dealt with developmental delays specifically, but my oldest, now 12 was diagnosed with progressive hearing loss at age 4 and I did not figure out how to get him qualified for help in the schools until age 9. Talk about guilt! But he is okay, and I know I will have the resources to continue to support him in his journey. I have let go what might have been and am now focused on what might be.

YiPpEy!

I cashed in $50 of my Disney Rewards for the girls only trip..that will take care of some lunches!

hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. it says i need to call to activate it. Perhaps i should wait til closer to the trip?:confused3

Activate it anytime, and only once. Then when you cash more in, they somehow reload that same card. So don't lose it!

Speaking of sparklies, when I first came around these parts, someone mentioned have a table set up at the pizza party for us to sit and bling up our shirts. Any thoughts on this? Would anyone be interested?

Oh, I love this idea. I want sparklies too!

Really enjoyed all your teenager stories, so I have to add mine.

When I was about 13, I was one of four girl cousins all about that age, that my Gram decided could house sit for her for the week while they were out of town. (What was she thinking?) None of us could drive, but we decided we wanted to have a party. So two of us walked to town (7 miles, downhill) and stood outside the Albertsons until we could get someone to buy us a 12 pack of beer. Then we started walking back up the hill, and ended up hitch hiking because the beer got too heavy. So we made it back, had a party with the four of us, also drank my Grandpa's whiskey and filled his bottle up with water. We all ended up puking all over the house. The next day we cleaned up the puke by vacumming it with my Gram's vacuum. The funny part was that we never heard a single word about this from anyone. I am pretty sure that my Grandparents figured it out and probably had a good laugh too, but they never told our parents or even said anything to us. We also never house sat again:)

On another note: My parents divorced right after I was born. My Mom always harbored an incredible hatred for my Dad, and to this day, if I mention in passing that I saw my Dad, she is very vindictive and says things like, "I can't believe you went and saw him. That SOB is still winning." I have told her many times how much it hurts me when she says that stuff. I have told her that she picked him, and I'm doing the best I can with what I have to work with. It makes no difference to her. She is so bitter towards him that she can't stop herself. At this point (I am 42, so that is a lot of years to hold onto that anger!), I just feel sorry for her, and try not to let it effect me. But sometimes it does.

Here in Washington, they have busted two puppy mills, taking custody of over 250 pregnant dogs, and are expecting to have 1500 puppies born in the next month or so. Isn't that heartbreaking. We got a rescue lab/mix one year ago and she is such a wonderful dog.

Oh yeah, you really brighten my day up over here. And that last line about the enzyme making the holes had me blowing snot out my nose. DOn't know why, but this makes me laugh. I'm sorry about your being allergic to it and all. But now I have the giggles.

Well, how about those books set at the Magic Kingdom? Umm...The Kingdom Keepers, I think...

I have them, but am saving them for my Feb. 14 family trip. My son said they were good.

A few authors I love reading are Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton, and G.A. McKevett, which is actually a pseudonym of Sonja Massie. Female detectives, good stories, very funny!! And sometimes a little trashy, but no too much!

I wish I could help you with book ideas. I don't read the typical type female books. I read books about the military, wars, and intelligence. If you like those types, I recommend, Generation Kill or Intelligence Wars. Both excellent books. I also enjoyed reading Jarhead (haven't seen the movie yet) and I read Flags of My Father since my grandfather was there when they raised the flag. Another great book. Didn't see that movie yet either.

I see another tag in your future . . . . .

I love Janet Evanovich, or I used to when I had time to read! I will have to remember the others too.

Thanks so much EVERYONE for all the great advice. You guys are awesome. We had a great session with my pastor although he told me I have to completely shut myself off emtionally from Lynn and let Shane take over and I think that is going to be really hard for me to do. He said that she is just going to keep pushing my buttons and right now I need to concentrate on healing myself and I can't do that unless I distance myself from her. I don't HOW I am going to do that living in the same house and trying to ignore everything but I guess we shall see.

He told me that Shane needs to set up ground rules and if she doesn't follow them that she will have to suffer severe consequences but what I don't think he gets is that we have already TRIED all that and it doesn't seem to phase her. But he did say that we were right in telling her that if she runs again we are not going to go after her. He said that she is old enough now that we really can't stop her if that is really what she wants to do and the police certainly don't care, we learned that this last time. So we just have to let happen whatever is going to happen.

So he left for work but he had a talk with her and he told her to make a list of what SHE thinks she should be entitled to do and what punishments she thinks she should get if she breaks rules and I am just going to let those two work it out. It is going to be hard though cuz usually when she gets in trouble it is when he is not around. But anyway we shall see.

I am just glad that my parents will be back tomorrow so I can at least get some help from someone else if I need it.

Thanks again for all your advice. It is much appreciated! :)

I have no problem with nuts--I react with canker sores to Swiss cheese.

Ack, me too!

And do you know what snack I am now craving? Yep, swiss cheese with a huge bowl of peanuts. Darn you. (I am a person who craves what makes them sick)

I'm so sorry your mom still feels so horrible about it. And that she feels it's OK to express it to you (I can see being angry, I can see holding onto it if it was bad enough, but gosh, to say that sort of thing to you?). And what's up with the "winning" part?

I will admit that she's not the only one who holds onto that. I had a few people not come to my wedding, when I thought they would, and I can only guess it's b/c I gave him "billing" on the invitations. I figured he deserved it...he was paying for most of his 33 year old daughter's wedding, after all. And I LET him pay for that wedding b/c he hadn't paid child support for many years, so I figured he owed em something. But I realize how that it was probably offensive to those friends of my mom who ONLY knew him then, don't know him now, and didn't know he was paying (and in our opinion therefore "deserving" of being the "host" of the wedding).

When we have our self-paid renewal (that dad won't be told about to b/c he might see it as an insult towards the real wedding) we'll invite those people, see if it makes a difference. :)

Gawd I'm blathery today.

Hubby woke up for work and was promptly sick, so stayed home. So Eamon can't have the run of the house, and it's COLD outside so I don't want to go out (though we do have to return some movies to the library), and I feel that I should stick around just in case hubby needs me.

Sounds like he has what January got last night, by the way...sick & wrong headache and general feeling bad...

Midwives, She's Come Undone, The Other Bolelyn Sister, hmmm..these are all books I have read recently. I thought they were all good. She's Come Undone was my favorite. It was just a really well written book. My DH got me The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I liked the Twilight books, so he thought I would like this one too. I read the first two chapters and it seems pretty good.

I want to have something fun to read on the plane! I will probably end up having to read one of my text books.

My son's 2nd grade teacher last year is/was 51..it was her first year teaching.
Are you going to Eastern?

I received my B.A. from Eastern, but I'm doing Western Governor's University online teacher certification program. It looks like a very involved program, but I'm excited to learn all I can.:cool1:

I see another tag in your future . . . . .

I think sort of like Twilight, right? Adolescents, or the "adolescent minded":rotfl2: My son is 12, but is a pretty advanced reader.

The basic premis is that a group of teens are chosen to help develope an online game and then reality and fantasy cross together, and they have to save the park. It is set in Magic Kingdom, but that is all I know until Feb. 14th. I plan on reading it while I save the spot for the family for fireworks. Any suggestions on time and/or location? I was thinking near the partners statue benches, but family will need to go and come back. Will that work?
