Girls Only Disneyland Trip - Old Thread

Molly, I'll try to go go go. I hope my poor body can handle it. :cool1: I only have a few days, I need to make the best of it. Sleep is overrated, (or at least I'm trying to convince myself of that!).

There's something much different about the go go go of what is, basically, a solo trip vs when you have to take care of others. Part of why hubby tries to make sure I go without them when I can is b/c it's the ONLY time I have a vacation. No matter what, on vacation, I'm the go-to person (at home too), and while our vacations are lovely for him b/c he's doing less, or at least different things, than he does at work. But I'm doing Same Job, Different Location.

Being without others that you need to take care of is VERY different, and the amount of go-go'ing you can do is different. AND you can SIT when you want to. On this trip I'm sure there'll be some sort of basic plan, or at least cells to call when you want to meet back up, so if all of a sudden you want to just sit the heck down, you can! And just meet people later or call to find out where they are. :)

Ladies I am HAPPY to announce that I will be joining you all on this trip! :cool1:
I am so excited I can barely contain myself! :yay: We go to DLR often, but going with a group of women who appreciate DL as much as myself sounds like a blast!
A little bit about myself: I am a very busy stay-at-home mom of four, including one with special needs. We live in Brentwood, CA (northern CA Bay Area).
Can't wait to get to know everyone!

Becci :wave2:

Woohoo!

Molly...you are so right about same job, different location. I don't think I have ever needed a vacation more in my life than I do right now.

Amen to that! Dave is a great and amazing dad, and Ty loves him so much, but I'm the momma and I have to stay on top of all the details like packing/hauling around a bag with Tyson snacks, toys and other necessities.

I have a really cute Ariel tote bag that used to be my park bag pre-Ty, and it sounds stupid, but I am really looking forward to a trip where I only have to be responsible for myself and carry the things that I need...:rotfl2:

My first solo trip was the month after a family trip. I came home so frazzled I was bursting into tears and moping around the house, I felt like junk. Of course it wasn't just the disneyland part of that...I chose, stupidly, to spend 8 days after disney with DS at my childfree brother's place. Even my brother saw, well before I did, that DS's behaviour was b/c he missed his dad. So I spent 7 days running after my son trying to keep him from killing the furniture (on the 7th day brother told me they WANTED the furniture to die so they would feel justified in replacing it) and freaking out over naughtiness, and just wanted to collapse at the end of it.

Since then hubby really understands that I don't get breaks, and encourages them financially (as much as he can) and with moral support.

If my sentences don't make sense, it's b/c I'm tired. And frazzled! Hubby had migraines from the age of 3 to around 30 (when he got under chiropractic care for a year). His own father had migraines from childhood. And DS gets headaches. He got a massive one today that came on FAST. It didn't last long, but it was really awful for him and for me while it lasted. Nothing I tried was helping and I finally ran to grab my homeopathy book to find the exact picture of the headache and to match it to a remedy...and as I was holding my 42 pound screaming kid while reading the book... the headache abated and he fell to sleep.

When I deal with stuff like that it's like I'm 300% "on", and after all is well I just want to fall over. I should have napped with DS -he slept for over 2 hours and woke up taller, different, and fresh as a daisy- but I didn't and I am just exhausted.

Blah blah blah. Then the fresh-as-a-daisy son made artwork with Nina's craft time on the Good Night Show on Sprout channel, and it's just amazing! So I'm happy but wiped out.

:dance3:

Beth,
I would love to sit and wait for F with you. After 10 hours or so in the park, I am done walking around. I would relish a 3 hour "rest" just chit chatting with some of you gals. :cutie: Maybe we need a second blanket? I can bring one.:goodvibes

Thanks for checking on the tour times, we will plan on 2 pm, but won't be surprised if Disney changes it again.

January, are you for sure coming? I can't wait to meet you. And welcome Becci - we love new friends! Our group is getting very large.:cheer2:

Geesh..........a bunch of chatty cathys again today!

Beth, on Carnation Cafe........surprise me!! :scared1: :rotfl:

Welcome to Becci. We are going to have a blast!! :dance3:

Beth, I want to join you on Saturday night. Sitting down and resting will feel like heaven I'm sure. :cloud9:

Heather, I would be up for MM, but alas I am AP, so I can't!! :sad1:

I know I forgot alot of stuff. I should have multi-quoted.

Molly, you crack me up!
As a mom, I do have a tendency to feel guilty going on trips without DD. During the ladies only WDW trip in 2006, I went without DD. I cried because I felt so guilty. I know now that I need a break too and not to feel bad when I cannot take her. She has been to DL many times and to WDW. And there are more trips to come. In Feb, we are going to San Diego. For being 4, she sure has been to a lot of neat places.:wizard:

I am pretty sure I am coming. There are few kinks I need to work out. But it looks like it is a go!

Please remove me from the Segway tour, I'm not going to be able to swing it this time.
I'm sorry to hear that. I took you off though.

Beth, since the VIP will be done by 3:30-4:00, I am flexible with dinner. Why don't you add me to whatever table you put Amy at... we can have some roommate bonding that way!
I put you and Amy at 4:20 then at the table with Theresa. So there are 3 groups of us eating at that time. :thumbsup2

Oh, and count me in for F! on Saturday night.
OK great! I'm not going to keep a running list for that. Who ever wants to join us on Saturday night will know where to find us all. That way if some one changes their mind it's ok.

Ladies I am HAPPY to announce that I will be joining you all on this trip! :cool1:

WELCOME Becci!!! I'm glad you can make it! I got your PM and will respond in a minute. :thumbsup2

Beth-I will wait with you at F! I have not been to the DL one since DH and I went to DL on our honeymoon 5 years ago. Maddie is afraid so we usually skip it. I can bring some dice and cards to pass the time.
Oh fun! Do you remember me holding a spot back in June? LOL I tell ya, everytime I go, it's a tradition for me. Let's just hope for nice weather!!! I'd hate for anything to be canceled due to rain.

Okay so I've talking to my friend (another Stephanie) about this trip for sometime now and today she says she's really considering going on the trip.
steph
Oh great! It's a day of newbies. LOL I hope she joins.

Cool! I'll have lots of good company in my wait this time. LOL
I was planning to bring two blankets, but we might need a third if you have an old one you don't mind bringing.

Beth, I want to join you on Saturday night. Sitting down and resting will feel like heaven I'm sure. :cloud9:
Yay, our Fantasmic party is growing!! :yay: I added you to the time with Wendy, Michelle, and Steph.

Tracey, we have enough room for all those from the VIP Tour who wanted to eat at Carnation Cafe, so if you want to withdraw your request and use it for something else, it's fine. We are pretty much good to go now with all the different seating times.
It's up to you.

This is the latest list update and everyone from the VIP Tour who wanted to do CC is on here. The only ones who aren't are Dawn and her mom, but they are eating at Plaza Inn. And Audra and Dylan, but they never mentioned wanting to eat at CC, so I think it's set.

I'll do Fantasmic with everyone! I'll bring a blanket, too!

Is the WIWF tour on Friday? What time?

That's me!!!! Give me a Red Bull and a churro and I'll be there at opening. :goodvibes

Breakfast of champions.

My mom and I will take 4:20 spots, it they are still available. Can't wait for a bowl of loaded baked potato soup. MMM.......................

I was thinking of that soup earlier today. Yummy.

Are you kidding?? I could totally live on corndogs and Tink Twists.

Give me a corn dog or give me death.

Saturday night Fantasmic is showing at 9:30.
I think I'm going to pick that one as my people watch time. I do it every trip. I bring a blanket and about 2 or 3 hours beforehand (between 6:30 and 7) I stake out my spot, spread my blanket and park my butt to wait.

It's tradition. So that's where you'll find me on Saturday night. :)

I'll try to bring a big blanket so if anyone wants to do some rides and then join me just before the show, feel free to do so. We can usually fit around 6 of us on one blanket.

I don't mind saving some spots. It's what I do. :rotfl:

I'm down for squatting and people watching before fantasmic. I'm in.

How sad, no one is eating with Mary Jo.

 How fun! We'll have a good group! :thumbsup2

I'm planning to get my free Disney visa stroller that day and park it somewhere with my blanket on it. That's what we do when we are there as a family. We rent a stoller, and park it at whatever land we are in at the time. It's never been an issue and we've never had anything go missing.
So we can pile all our blankets on one stroller so we'll have them when nighttime comes around. It will be cheaper then each one of us renting a locker and we won't have to hassle with walking back to the hotel to get them.

Sound ok?

Give me a corn dog or give me death.

Now that is a tag that's good for you. (the corn dog part I mean, lol)
Party by the Rivers of America! I can just see a big group of us sitting there playing cards, throwing dice and being rowdy. All we need is Callie there with her cig and we are set. :rotfl:

And don't worry, Mary Jo's group will fill up. She won't get off the hook that easy. LOL I'm just trying to fill up the tables one at a time, no real rhyme or reason.

Well school started tonight and I am pooped. Thank goodness its my last semester and will graduate this Spring.

I can't wait until I can say that!!

Oh Beth you are the best!!
Well, it appears I'm going to be in good company that night. :dance3: Several seem to think they'll be ready for a break by then, so we should have plenty of room.
So if anyone wants to do rides and then come join us, feel free. (like Heather/LittleBlackRaincloud, it's her first time so I don't think she should sit at all until right before show time, LOL)

Even if it ends up just being me for some reason, I've got two blankets and we can cram at least a couple of us on there. :thumbsup2

I'm a dork but that's one of my favorite things about Fantasmic. Staking my spot, watching as it slowly fills up around me (and glaring at anyone who tries to sneak in too close), chatting with people, eating snacks, watching the sky get darker and darker, until finally that river boat band comes out signaling that it's almost time!!! :yay: :woohoo: :cool1: :cloud9:

Welcome Becci! I can't wait to meet you. I starting to explore this world of special needs. My son has major speech delays, low muscle tone in his face, and is still not able to chew food well. We had our planning meeting today, and will be seeing a ST, OT, and Dev Specialist once a week. I have to keep my house clean now! :scared1: He qualified for DDD funding which I guess is a big deal and is only because they feel he is high risk for autism.

Now, on to less stressful talk....

I like the idea of starting out with a churro Friday morning. I will pass on the red bull though.

I'm wondering if we are choosing our own teams for the hunt or if they are assigned. I just wondered because whoever is on my team will be lucky....I'm in it to win it...

I had a dream/nightmare that I was on the tower of terror last week. (Remember that I'm a ride weenie!) Stacie was sitting beside me putting on lipstick in my dream. I passed out after the 2nd drop, and woke up in goofy's lap. I can't believe I forgot to tell you all this. Once Stacie had her 'face' fixed, she drug me over to a bench and told me to sit until Callie was done smoking. :rotfl2: :rotfl: Anyone care to analyze that one????

I completely understand having to think everything out. We are moving in 3 weeks. I asked DH to schedule the movers. He told them to be at our house at 7am. I asked him how was I going to get myself, and the two boys up, dressed, fed, and out the door by then. Also, that means all the the sheets need to be picked up by then. I asked him to reschedule for 10am. Men just don't think sometimes. He said he wanted to get it over with. I told him that he could leave it at 7am, and he could have baby duty. I would be more than happy to watch the movers carry things around. (Sounds like a better job to me!) He called and changed the moving time. :rotfl2:

I have to work tomorrow...yuck!

Talk to you all later.

Heather
