How nice is that!

I'm really excited as I have wanted one for a while and it just hadn't happened yet! I casually mentioned it a few weeks ago when he asked what I wanted for V-Day, but I didn't expect him to listen as I typically get jewelry (nothing super fancy, but jewelry nonetheless). So, color me shocked when he asked me yesterday whether I wanted the AP design or the mickey head with the year design!

Nothing planned yet. Im thinking of staying in with DD and DBF, inviting my brother and his 3 boys, and a few of our friends over. Maybe do pizza and karaoke that night.

What kind of puppy you getting?

That could be a lot of fun.

We're getting a chocolate lab. We're going to visit him this weekend and I will remember to bring my camera so I get a picture to post here.

I have to go to a conference in St. Louis from Feb. 12-15, so we will miss the parents night out that Ty's daycare will be having on the 13th. But, I will probably try to cook something special on the 16th since I have the day off work (presidents day). Sadly, I just made my favorite special occasion meal yesterday when I made a Le Cellier inspired menu of Canadian beer cheese soup, spinach gratin and bbq maple glazed steaks. So, I will have to try to think of something creative...:scared:

Meanwhile, Dave told me yesterday that I'm getting a DLR brick as my V-day present!!!:cheer2:

Sorry you won't be able to take advantage of the parents night out. Very nice present from your husband.

Hey all...a long hard day at work, and I'm ready fro bed.

My contract is up in early April. I'm stressing already about finding a job. Nursing jobs in Tucson are fairly sparce right now. The snowbirds did not arrive like they normally do. I have a job interview Friday afternoon. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I'm hoping to keep on keeping on.

I had a rough evening once I got home. We got our copy of Nathan's therapy plan, and it included their assessment of his skills in it. I'm lost, sad, and confused. I cried for half an hour, and am still teary about it. I know that a few of us here are dealing with developmental delays with our children. I'm just starting out. If anyone has any words of hope and encouragement for me, please PM me. The one thing that stood out to me was that he is behind in every aspect. His best 'score' at 23 months was social-emotional scored at 16 months, but his cognitive was scored at 8 months. I can't even believe it. How could I have missed this for so long...

I'm crying too much to type anymore....

I need to go to bed.

Good Night all

Heather

I can't wait to see pictures of the puppy! Chocolate labs are so, so cute!

As for the night out, it's sad not to be able to take advantage of it, as we don't have any family here in Vegas and I have not been able to bring myself to leave Ty with non family members outside of his daycare. So, we haven't had a ton of date nights since he was born: a few nights when my mom has been out to visit and then 3 or 4 of the other parents night out offerings his school has had. I am sure that I could probably find a sitter if I really needed one, I just haven't really had the motivation to search one out yet.

For all of you more experienced moms out there, how did you approach the search for a babysitter when you don't have family in the area?

First don't blame yourself (same goes for your husband). My ds is 3 years and 5 months and we've been through what you're going through (and still going through lots of things right now). You are getting him the care he needs and that's all that matters. My ds goes to speech therapy twice a week and we're starting ABA (applied behavioral analysis) therapy which will occur in our home.

It's hard to deal with but I look at my son's smiling face (he is such a happy child) and know that we're going to get through this.

If you have any questions or need to vent feel free to PM me or post here.

I wish I knew the answer to that question. We don't feel comfortable with the teenagers that babysit on the base. Not that we can't trust them but we have 3 kids and the closest town (with restaurants and movie theaters) is 45 minutes away....so we do at home dating. ;)

Hi, ladies! I hope your night is going well.
I am not sure what happened...but all of a sudden I got sick. I have a temp and feel like my head is going to explode. I am not sure where it came from...but I am staying home tomorrow. I feel like I have been home a lot lately from work. :confused3 I hope I don't get into trouble, even though I have the sick time available.

Anyways..

Heather...I have not been through what you are going through. I do however, work in a classroom with some kids who are autistic. I know that sometimes life can get hard for them and their parents. I know I speak for all the ladies here when I say, you can come to us anytime and we will be here to listen. :grouphug: Things will get better.

I have been pretty lucky. My parents are always willing to keep my DD. So is my brother. I also have two really good friends who will watch her if needed. In the past I had also used kids who I used to babysit for as babysitters for DD. That worked out well. Now DD is 13 and she doesn't need sitters like she used to. Only for overnights or if I am gonna be long.

Heather,
I sent you a PM. :)

Sorry to hear you are sick. Hope you feel better after a good nights sleep.

I heard some sad news on the radio tonight. Do you all remember that little boy who got stuck under the "Roger Rabbit" ride? Brandon Zucker died today.

Gosh, that is heartbreaking.:sad1: His family must be going through so much.

. I'll just leave you all with some funny hubby/wife jokes a friend sent me last week.

I hope you enjoy these! (And no one gets offended. :flower3: )

Those were great!:lmao: :rotfl: Thanks for sharing!

Ugh, just remembered that I still have homework to take care of tonight. Not fun!

Good grief...I am hearing that. I feel like all I do is schoolwork. I still have 2 more years!:scared:
Then on to my masters....:crazy2: :crazy2:

Eh, its all good. It will be worth it.

Yummers!!

Well today I made my son a triple chocolate layer cake filled with coffee cream stuff. It was pretty rich!!

Chocolate cake...

Alright so it's official........I am insane. I have decided to start my Master's degree next month. I'm doing it totally online. I have been out of school since November of 2007. It's time to get my behind back in gear. I slacked off. I need to do this, I just need to remind myself of this when I want to throw in the towel...

That is so great!

So now that Feb is just around the corner.....is anyone planning on doing anything for V-Day?

We will be in San Diego for BIL's Marines thing-y. I am not sure what it is called.

We will most likely just have dinner with the family. Nothing too special. We usually skip out on V-day since our anniversary is Feb 24th.

That could be a lot of fun.

Ah, I love labs! They are great dogs.

We just asked our friends and co-workers. We found an awesome preschool for Maddie that way.:thumbsup2

So if you don't mind me asking......how did you get your name January?

I don't mind you asking at all! lol

I was born in January and my parents claim that is not the reason I was named January. One of my parents, not sure which, really loved this movie http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073190/ (it was also a book) and fell in love with one of the main characters whose name is January.

The movie poster looks a bit disturbing..lol

Hmmmm, I wasn't planning to because I thought it would be fun for it to be a surprise.
But then again, we don't want 5 bags of M&M's. lol

So, maybe we should have everyone PM their choices. Cheryl, Michelle, Stacie, what says you? If you want, I can have everyone PM me and keep track. Let me know.

:rotfl2:

I like the element of surprise, myself.
