Girls in the Pirate Adventure?

I booked Caroline (6 yrs) into the Pirate Adventure at the Grand Floridian...it didn't occur to me at the time, but every single person I've seen talking about their kids doing it were talking about boys. Is she going to be the odd girl out here? I don't think she'd care, if the boys didn't fuss at her. I imagine the CMs would smooth anything over; I'm more curious than anything - do girls do this?

Thanks,

Kris

I have read other posts about the pirate adventure and I got the impression that just as many girls go as boys. I plan on signing up my dd7 and ds5 for our trip in January. There is a tread all about it and a detailed description of what takes place on the cruise. I'm sorry I don't know how to copy threads but if you do a search on this site for "pirate cruise" you should find it.
Anyway it sounds like so much fun and your daughter I'm sure will have a blast!

Thanks, I took your advice and did some more digging...sounds like you're right!

It's always nice to be reassured....

My DD did the cruise when she was 9 along with DS who was 6 at the time. That day it was split about 50/50 as to boys and girls. Thankfully there were also other "older" children that day so she didn't feel awkward about it. Both my children LOVED the cruise! The CMs were awesome and it was just something so different and fun.

:sunny:

All three of my children, ds(4) and 2 dds (5 & 7) went on the Pirate Cruise in July. They all loved it and can't wait to go back next July. BTW there were plenty of girls on the cruise, just as there were quite a few boys at the WOnderland Tea Party this year (including my 4 year old son).

I just called this morning and signed my dd up for the cruise for 12/16.

Has anyone sent just one child. My DD is 5 and I am always concerned about sending her to the clubs and the cruise without another sibling there to look after each other.

My DD4 is going solo on the cruise. They'll do fine! My D is a shy one at first so she is not very outgoing. She does, however, click with kids really well if they make the first move. I like sending her on mini adventures without me so she can have a chance to meet kids on her own without mom doing the first intro's. It is good practice for her and she ends up having the greatest time. The cruise looks like a lot of fun. She is a good listener for other adults in charge so I am not concerned one bit.
Enjoy!

My daughter Natalie, 4yo, is scheduled for Oct 23 :)

When is Caroline going?

Caroline's going to be going on December 1. Let me know how your daughter enjoys it? I'm sure it's going to be great. I definitely decided to pick up a disposable camera for her. Even if she's only six and might not take any good ones, it'll be worth it for her, I'm sure!

Sure! I'm looking forward to this.

All my daughter knows is that we're going to visit friends of mine!
LOL.

It started as "Well, I'm going to fly to visit friends in October, you think you might want to come with me?"

"Sure!" she said. So we agreed she and daddy can fly with me to visit my friends.

We get in at 11:45pm on Friday night and go to an offsite hotel, so my plan is that we tell her when we drive up to the resort that my friends are Mickey Minnie and Goofy :)

Going to give DD a disposable camera too. At Alice's tea party last year it took forever to get a story out of her as to what went on!

Course, DH treated me to a massage in the GF spa so I wasn't complaining ;)

I have an odd question - What about the potty?!? How long are they on the boat for?

I think they have several ports of call, and the whole excursion is only 2 hours, so it shouldn't be too scary!

So parents do not go on this. How do I fing=d out about this and other similar adventures for my 3 1/2 dd and 5 ds?

Riverside at Port Orleans
Fishing Hole at Ol' Man Island
The Riverside Resort also offers a catch-and-release fishing on Ol' Man Island at the Fishin' Hole. Hours are 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. and vary seasonally. The Fishing Hole is stocked with catfish, bass, and blue gill, and a catch is almost certain.

Cost -- Cane Pole & Worms - $4/hour OR Family Fishing - $12.50/hour (up to 6 people)

Hope this helps,

Thank you very much Kris. Those links will be very helpful. I love the idea about fishing.

The fisjing hole is great. I used to love to fishewhen i was a kid, I went there serveral years ago when i was single and I have a really good time it wasnt crowded. I am toying wihtthe idea of staying at POR with the kids the next time i go to see if they would like to fish.

My grandsons (9 & 10) and granddaughter (7½) went on the Pirate Cruise in August. They all had a great time.

However at first my granddaughter (who normally loves little kids) was paired with a very young boy (3 or 4) ... he clung to her ... she wasn't happy that he was so clingy and the CM's ended up partnering her with another girl who was about her age partway through the cruise.

IMHO a 3/4 year old is probably too young to go, unless he/she is accompanied by an older sibling.
