*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Sounds like a fun time Pixiedust!

Mel! I'm so glad to 'see' you. Your tips on DC are right on. I used to live there, and you gave some wonderful advice. I would like to add that I love love love the Museum of American History, and think kids would enjoy it also. They have the original Oscar, one pair of the Ruby slippers, and other fun 'kids' stuff. I love the President and First Lady exhibit, those dresses! Those wooden teeth! The hat Lincoln wore the night he was shot, and on and on. I love DC. Oh, and the food is very expensive. I think the cheapest thing around is the actual 'cafeterias' in the American History and Space museum. Not the best food though.

I am going to DLR in August! Donna has graciously opened her house to me, but we are staying at the Hojo also. I want to spend every second of everyday at disney. I think we'll give it a good shot for 2 days.

Thanks for the encouragement about tomorrow. I'm scared! :scared1: Plus it's a new doctor I've never met since we changed insurance. I was with the high risk ob's and their midwives at another hospital for Nolan. I have to use a doctor at my hospital now. Everyone tells me they are among the best. It's a whole group of women, and they are all wonderful I hear.

Katie, I'm so sorry to hear about the job. Two times in my life, I did not get a position I wanted. Both of these times, I got a call a bit later that the first person didn't work out. Whatever happens, it shows how much they did recognize your skills to get you to the very finals. You're obviously talented, it's just a tight tight market right now.

I know these words aren't much consolation. And it's so tough when everything seems to be going wrong. I'm a big believer that everything happens for a reason though. If this brings about positive change for you, that will be good. It will get better.

Hang in there.:rose:

Have you seen the Haunted Mansion Pins that are just being released at the parks. Many of them have an open house theme. They are too cute, especially for those of us in the Real Estate field. Now I just need to figure out how to me some of those!

Tracey

Those pins sound REALLY cute! I hope they have some when I go in Oct. My mom would LOVE one! Would make a great x-mas present! ;)

Most of the pins can be ordered online. I don't have the exact link but if you google it, it should come up on a Disney site. Try the Disney site first. After that, if it's something they aren't selling anymore, then you can get on ebay. Theresa and I got most of our vinylmation pins from ebay.

I probably won't be in the parks again until July. Let me know if you can't find the link.

I love these pins, but then I love the Haunted Mansion most of all!

Only have time for a quick, drive-by hi! :car:

Hope the Vegas gals have enjoyed their trip! When do they all go home?

I'm down to 7 more days in Phoenix! :dance3::banana:

TTFN!

:cheer2: I think some come home on Sunday.. it's staggered.

Hi Ladies!

First and foremost.........Capri, I am so sorry about your Daddy!!

Howdy Vegas ladies! I hope you are being gooooooooooooood!! :rotfl: I'm curious to know why Theresa is invisable? :confused3

Donna and Vicki, The back stage tour sounded really cool. I was reading all about it, wishing I could have gone too.

:

Invisiable? Hmmm... was there a photo I missed?
Capri, hang in there. I know what this feels like with my FIL.

Have a great day, everyone!

Hey gals!
I am relaxing today since tomorrow I am going to be with Brent...taking care of him. That is a full-time job...trust me. :rotfl:Tonight we are going to dinner and seeing Up.

I am looking forward to it since we have been planning to see it, but still haven't. I heard it was really good.

Hope you all are doing great!

Just heard back today. Didn't get it :sad1:.

I'm in a funk right now because a lot of aspects in my life are a mess & out of my control.

My future is soooo uncertain right now & I'm probably going to have to make a lot of changes in the near future.

Thanks for thinking about me though .

I am so sorry to hear this. I know that you will find something even better.

Hi all...sorry I haven't been on much lately...ditto to everyone as far as having fun in Vegas and bummer to MamaKate! Something even better will come along, I am sure.

My dd turned one today and I totally forgot it was her birthday till I got to work. I felt like such a bad mom I mean, I know she won't know the difference, but it just felt bad. How could I forget her birthday! I knew about it yesterday, why did I forget this morning!?!? We are having her party on Sunday at the park...I hope it is good weather!

Later,
Sarah

Aw, Sarah. Don't beat yourself up too much. You are one busy lady and its not like your DD is 6 and constantly reminding you that her birthday is coming soon.:rotfl:

I hope you all have a great time at her birthday!

Katie, about the job. That is a bummer. After your hours of interviews, what a let down. No, I haven't purchased the Tinkerbell stuff yet. I'm still trying to decide. I actually like Alice and Bambi a little more than Tinkerbell. I'm debating what to do. I really don't need any of it. Especially with my super awesome birthday trip coming up!

Sarah, oh don't worry about the birthday. You're not a bad mom, just a busy one! You will celebrate this weekend and then you will feel complete about it. So.....when's the next one coming? (I'm a baby enabler also!)

Hi Cristabel, Tina, Kelly, and anyone else reading!

I think you should get the Alice one. I was also checking that one out.:thumbsup2

I didn't know you were going to DL on your bday! You lucky girl!!

Hi from Fabulous Las Vegas!!
We have all had such a great time!!

Sadly so far the tattoo's are Henna.....but seriously, the real thing doesn't hurt that bad....well until you pay

We have had a really great time!!
Today Stacie(rita), Marcie & Cheryl spent the day at the spa.
Stacielee, myself & Theresa (who is invisible to waiters) left the resort around 12 for lunch at Serendipity 3. It was yummy!!!!!!!!!
Frozzen Hot Chocolate...is AMAZING!!!
Beth had family stuff this morning, grocery shopping, I guess her family wanted to eat

So she met up with us later.
Then us girls gambled a little bit.
Tony & Tina's wedding was great!
It was so fun!!!

My knee is killing me today. So after the wedding Stacielee & I cabbed it back to the room. The others are still out playing.

Capri oh my goodness, I hope everything is ok with your dad.

Hi to everyone else.

Hopefully later in the week the henna tats will turn into the real deal!!! :)

I am glad to hear that you all are having a blast.:cool1:

Poor invisible Theresa!

I hope your knee starts to feel better!

Morning all!

Hi Heather :)

Deb sounds like you guys are having a blast!! Glad you are having fun just don't have TOO much fun LOL ;)

We wouldn't want to have to come bail anyone out of jail or anything LOL

Hope your knee feels better. I know what you mean. I hurt my knee while I was there on my one and only trip and then it was SO dang hot and we didn't have a car. I had to walk everywhere and it was DOUBLE the size of my other knee just from walking around. By our last day we broke down and rented a car cuz I couldn't take it anymore.

Glad you all are having LOTS of fun and I am sure everyone is jealous! I know I am ;)

I made my train ressies last night for NY so that is done and was looking at the info for the statue of liberty. I know no matter what I want to take the girls there and to the Empire state building and WTC. After that it is up in the air. We will be there Fri afternoon all day Saturday and part of Sunday before we head back to D.C.

We will have less time in D.C. but it will be worth it cuz I have always wanted to go to NY. Now we will kill 2 birds with one stone.

We won't get to see everything in either place but some in each which will be good. I am just glad we are still going and I actually feel safer going with Shane to those cities then 2 women and 2 kids!

Anyway today I have my neuro apt and I am glad cuz I have been having a LOT more migraines so I am hoping he can give me something for my headaches. All I have been using is just OTC stuff. I haven't had any RX stuff in awhile. Plus maybe he can figure out WHY I have been having so many.

Anyway that's bout it for me. Hope everyone has a GREAT day and take care. Talk to you all later! :)

Wow, I would love to go to D.C.! I am hoping that once I get my teaching degree I can take a trip there and check out some great things to teach to my class.

You all will have a blast!!

My DH has suffered with really bad headaches. He has even passed out from them. He has had scans done and there is nothing showing. He has been told it is stress and tension-induced. I feel bad because he gets no relief and it seems like no one is willing to look deeper to find out what it is and DH doesn't push the issue with the docs. He just takes their word for it. The same thing happened with his gall bladder. I finally had to intervene and MAKE him call for more appointments. He was in so much pain. What is is with men? Are they waiting until something is terminal before they get it taken care of? Sorry...I went off on a bit of a tangent. lol.

Well, I hope that someone can help you with your headaches. I know how debilitating they can be.
Have a good day everyone! I'm off to get us ready for music therapy, and then we'll be back.

I have the most awesome birthday trip planned! BB for lunch on my birthday, and Club 33 for lunch the next day! It will be sooo much fun, and I'm hoping that they will have the pins in stock this time. If any of the girls who went with me in March want a pin, let me know, and I'll get one to you if they have them. We can work something out. :yay: I'm so excited about seeing Dumbo fly, F! (hopefully with the dragon!), and the ELP. I haven't seen it since I was a child! WDW has Spectromagic which also has a place in my heart, but you can't beat the music for the ELP! :cool1:

I'm nervous about my doctor's appointment tomorrow. I don't want to get too TMI, but I have to have a procedure done in order to try for my little girl. I'm worried it's going to hurt. Keep me in your thoughts. :scared:

Sounds like you have a great bday planned!! Club 33 again?! Wow you are LUCKY!

Never TMI on this thread. I hope it all goes well and I will be sending baby girl vibes your way!:wizard:

Good Morning Ladies! :) I'm going to Disneyland tomorrow! I'm so happy!! I get 2 days off of work and am going to DL with my boyfriend, little sister and possibly my brother. I was able to change my reservation time to an earlier one for Blue Bayou, due to a cancellation. :dance3: Right now there is a promo for So-Cali Residents (So-Cal Residents may purchase this for out of town guests as well, according to the CM I spoke with). They have a 3-Day Park Hopper called The Summer Fun Pass for $99. My bf bought one from Ralph's Market yesterday. The also carry it at the Disney Store. The only thing is that the 3-Day Park Hopper has to be used up completely within 45 days from your first visit. It's blocked out for July 4th.

When those gates open tomorrow I'm going to make a mad dash for a dole whip float!! :rotfl: :lmao:
rs94s1.gif
Hope you are all having a good day. :)

Wow, have a great time with your fam at DL! $99 for a 30day pass is excellent!!:thumbsup2

Afternoon all. Just back from the neuro. I was so stressed about driving downtown but it wasn't TOO bad so that was good although I had a headache so that didn't help but anyway I told him all about what was going on so he is going to reduce my Topomax down to one a day and start me on a blood pressure pill called Enderol. One of the "good" side effects is it helps with headaches so we shall see. I have really LOW bp but it can't hurt I guess. He said he thinks when I switched from the depocoat to the triliptil that that might be why I am getting so many headaches but not sure. I know that I get a lot when it is hot and when the weather changes so who knows. But anyway we shall see if this helps. I sure hope so. Plus I told him that when I had the really BAD ones in April that the Imitrex didn't work so he gave me a sample of Maxalt and said to try it and if it worked he would call me in a scrip. So I took one today so we shall see.

I have tried quite a few different migraine meds but not that one yet so we shall see.

Anyway thanks so much Mel for the advice on DC and NY.

Our plan is we are flying in to BWI (Baltimore for those unfamiliar) on Wed the 5th. We plan to take the Mark train to our hotel from the airport so THAT should be an experience. We could take the blue van but it is SO expensive and we thought we would try it. Then for the rest of Wed we will probably just walk around a bit and maybe check the memorials etc that are close to our hotel. We are staying on New Jersey Ave VERY close to the Capitol.

Then on Thursday we will spend that day in D.C. and probably go to one of the museums and possibly some more monuments. I was told to break them up into sections! :)

I know we want to see the air and space museum, museum of Natural History, the National Archives, The pop culture museum or whatever it is called (with all the stuff like fonzies jacket, archies chair etc) and the girls want to see the bureau of engraving where they make the money and possibly the FBI tour. And of course I want to see all the popular monuments on the mall and arlington but all of this depends on how much time we have and how much time it takes us at each place. Some of these we may not be able to get to.

But on Fri morning we have tix to get on the train at Union station and we arrive in NY at noon. Then I plan to see the empire state building first thing and then other midtown attractions like Times Square, Chrysler Bldg, Central Park etc. But we are staying in the financial dist. (Battery Park area). Then first thing Sat morning we are going to catch the ferry to Ellis Island/Libery Island. That is a must. And yes we will purchase the tix to both Liberty AND Empire ahead of time. I had a trip to NYC ALL planned and paid for through Travelocity back in 06 and then had to cancel but I had done the tix in advance before. Then not sure about the remainder of saturday but probably just explore down in the financial dist or possibly around the Brooklyn bridge or whatever. Then that night we MAY try to see a play using those last minute tix unless they are outrageously priced. Otherwise we may just see a movie or something. Then Sunday we have a few hours in the morning before we have to catch our train at 1 back to D.C.

So we will try to see whatever we have missed at that point. But then we have Mon, Tues and Wed to see what we want to see in D.C. and we leave on Thurs.

So those are our plans. We hope to keep it reasonable and I know in D.C. at least most of the sights are free and we will DEF be looking for bargains for eating that's for sure. No fancy dinners for us. I know the book I read said you can eat in most of the museums so that is prob what we will be doing for lunch and then dinner will be the challenge. But I am looking forward to it nonetheless.

Anyway thanks all and I hope everyone is having a GREAT day!

Wow, have a great time with your fam at DL! $99 for a 30day pass is excellent!!:thumbsup2

Thank you. :goodvibes I agree, it's an awesome deal! :yay: I have a Premium AP but my bf and family members don't have AP's. This is a good bargain. :goodvibes

Hi January,

Have a great day tomorrow with Brent. I hope that he doesn't get one of those horrible headaches. I agree with you...............he needs to find out what is going on. My oldest DD gets bad headaches too, and she has been checked out, but it still worries me alot when she gets them.:sad2:

Sarah, you are not a bad mom at all! I think this must have happened to all of us. I forgot Dave's birthday once! It wasn't until the afternoon, that I finally remembered!! :guilty: I felt horrible about it too!!:guilty: I think that life gets busy, and our minds have a hard time keeping up. I read more and more about this happenining. So you are not alone!

Thank you. :goodvibes I agree, it's an awesome deal! :yay: I have a Premium AP but my bf and family members don't have AP's. This is a good bargain. :goodvibes
Hey Pix!!

That is a great deal! I wanted to get it for my Mom and Sisters, but the day we left, was the day the ticket promotion started. :upsidedow

BTW- all the t-shirts and goodies are adorable!!!

Kelly, the train is an adventure. I have an embarrassing story about it.

I took it once when I got a cheap flight out of BWI. I took the Metro to Union station, and then AMtrak up. I was young, and had never done it before. I knew our stop was coming, but I guess I thought it would be like an airplane or something. I was waiting for them to tell me it was time to get off.

The next thing I know, the train starts back up, and I'm like NO!!!!!! and go running against the crowd trying to get to the doors. They had to stop the train and one of the conductors had to walk me back down the line to the station again. Everyone still on the train was inside pointing, snickering, commenting on my shoes (OK, maybe not, but I felt very talked about KWIM?), and such.

Turns out, that when they mention that your stop is coming up next, I should have gotten up with my stuff walked to the door while the train was still going, and wait. I didn't know. I thought I'd get in trouble for moving around. It was like the subway, I had exactly 2.2 seconds to get myself and stuff off the train once it stopped. I'll never forget my walk of shame with the conductor seething beside me, and the train full of people glaring. :rotfl:

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement :lovestruc.

Yes it is a very tight market right now. One of the ladies I used to work with that also got laid off, just found a job. It took her 5 months and she was going on 3-5 interviews a week :scared1:. I haven't really been too active in searching for a job, but I don't really have the time to go on that many interviews in a week.

The plus side is that I get to spend more time with the baby :lovestruc. I just have to continue to TRY and budget a little better.

Hi Everyone!
Man, have things been crazy at work for me. I could work 12 hours and not get caught up. I get pooped after 9, that's about all I can do. That's what happens when you take over a week off for vacation, though, right?

Sounds like the Vegas girls are having fun. :dance3:
Katie, sorry about the job. DH has friends who have been out of work almost a year. The market in So Cal is VERY tight right now. Hugs.
Rochelle, have a wonderful time at DL! Nice hearing from Miss Mel. Heather, good luck at the new doc's. Kelly, feel better.

Talk to everyone later!

Just checking in briefly before bed. I pack the truck tomorrow and I still have so much to do! The hives are horrible still but I guess I just have to make due. I had another face invasion today and my lips were so swollen. By now I am noticing the correlation between the severity of the hives and my "freaking out" level. I wasn't going to post this but you all have to see what the heck I'm talking about. I've never been allergic to anything. This was the pre-2nd urgent care visit photo that I sent to my parent's office (which is next door to the urgent care center) that they showed the other doc... he made me come back. It was much worse today. It's so red! It's all over my legs still, underarms, b:eek:bies and belly, pretty much everywhere except my lower back and b:eek:ty. My legs get really swollen in the morning after having been under a warm blanket all night.

Eek! I'm trying not to complain, but if you could keep me in your thoughts as I try to get through the next few days it would be so very much appreciated!

oh you poor dear. Thoughts, prayers and pixie dust coming your way. One of them ought to work.

Those hives look really itchy! I will be praying for you.

I gotta get up at 4:30 to take DH to the hospital for his surgery at 5:30.:sad2:What an ungodly hour to be getting surgery. Oh, well. At least he will get it over and done with.:thumbsup2

Have a good night everyone! And thank you for all of the good thoughts and prayers for Brent. He appreciates it and so do I!:grouphug:

Thanks for the pixie dust! I'm trying not to get emotional about it because it makes it worse. The doctor gave me a shot of something and told me to take pills of the same medication for the next 6 days, then gave me something for the itch, which doesn't help much. When I went back to the urgent care center they gave me 2 ativan and a strong anti-histamine. He prescribed me a slew of xanax (0.5mg 1-2 taken up to 4 times a day or something crazy like that) that's a lot of sedation if you ask me. I does help though so I'm drinking lots of Starbucks. He also gave me something for the pain called Norvil or something like that. It's basically vicodin only stronger. It made me ill just taking 1/2 so I won't be doing that again.

I'm praying for Brent!

Bridgette! You have to get better, don't knock yourself out on all those meds. Be careful!

I got hives like that the last time I changed laundry detergent. It's the only thing that will set me off like that. It got to the point where I was bleeding they were so large and breaking open. I hope you figure out how to stop them.

Good night all! I hope I sleep, I'm nervous about tomorrow. :scared:

I just wanted to say thank you to Heather and PrincessBell, who's pretty face I can picture as clear as a "bell" but darn if I can remember your name. OOH, it's Courtney, right?? See, my old brain is not completly done in.

Anyhow, check out my new link to my pre trip report:)

Bridgette - You poor thing! I hope the medication starts working soon! :flower3:

I've been trying really hard to catch up, but I was so far behind! I'm only about half way there.
Ethan's 8th grade graduation was great. MIL, my mom and step-dad, along with my cousin, Dad and step-mom were all there. He looked so handsome in a shirt and tie and dress pants. We went to Applebees afterwards (his choice) and a few of his friends met us there. We had dinner back at the house later that evening. Chicken teriaki stir fry for 16! But it went well.
Friday morning I spent at the urgent care. I'm getting to know that place all too well! Long story short, it appears I was bitten by something (they think spider) that I had an allergic reaction to. The allergic reaction caused a blister and the blister caused an infection. Only I could manage something like that! So, I'm on antihistamine and horse pill sized antibiotics. I've been kinda out of it all the way around. And, it's odd how very much it can hurt and itch! GRRRRR!
I've been missing all of you here! As soon as I get through this crazy time of studying for the bar and getting end of year stuff done with the kids, I'll be on more often, I promise!!! I'm hoping those who are feeling poorly start feeling better soon! Callie, good luck with the move. Hugs to those who need it, though we all need hugs!
I'm hoping to make it up for dinner on the 16th. I won't be able to do DL that day, but I might just be ready for a break for dinner.
Bye for now!
Michelle
