I'm trying to find shorts for my dd. She is 6 years old (7 in May). At a recent sick visit she was 43lbs and 47.5 inches. Last time I measured her waist it was 19inches. She is slender but not unusally so. She is also picky and has trouble with buttons/snaps. Does anyone know where I can find slim size shorts without buttons/snaps. it is hard to go a size smaller because then the length is too short. She is currently in size 6 but it varies depending on brand and if they carry 6x. She is a young girl so I'm not looking for anything too revealing either. Shirts are easier since they can be big. She does have good luck with gymboree size 6 leggings but the size 7 ones are way too big on the waist. I know others girls are more slender than dd so it shouldn't be so difficult to find but I'm probably missing an easy obvious store.

Have you looked at Lands End? I have pretty good luck there.

With no snaps or buttons?

That has become a little tough these days. Children's Place used to carry shorts without snaps or buttons...have not seen them in a year+.

Justice for Girls is a place to look. You could also see if she can fit into Limited 2 however she may be too small, but you never know with shorts.
Also make sure to hit up your local department/athletic stores and Kohls.

You can always find athletic shorts at the sporting goods stores.

Target. Last year my Mom stocked up on capris and shorts. They were zips with the button tabs inside to adjust the waist. DD has a hard time with buttons on denim so my Mom had gotten her those instead.

My 9 year old autistic daughter can't do snaps or buttons either, so I have a problem with her clothes as well. I have found a good selection of pants/shorts at CWD Kids and Hanna Andersson (both online). The ones at Hanna tend to not shrink, so you don't need to buy them larger for shrinkage. Also, the Hannas tend to hold their color really well.

Last summer, we bought shorts at The Children's Place that had hooks rather than snaps and had good luck with them.

Recently, I'm finding that clothing shops everywhere are getting pants with inside adjustable waists. What a godsend! My 8 yo DD is about the same size as your daughter (I think she weighs 46 and is just about the same height), and we buy a good majority of her playclothes at Old Navy.

Target has scooters with elastic waists. I'm not sure if they have shorts in stock yet, or not, but they ussually have elastic waist shorts too.

Eh! I wouldn't be so sure about that! Their sizes tend to run very small! :confused3 The thing that'll get ya is the prices!;)

Or the length!!!:scared1: :lmao:

Seriously, last year we were able to buy clearance stuff for my dd at LT2. Now it wasn't choice stuff but for 3,4,5 bucks a pair it was great!
They had alot and the length, price, and style was OK.

You do have to "hunt" as the styles change.

I have good luck at Gymboree for my girls, although check their size chart as it does not match other stores/brands. I find there stuff runs a bit big. They have slim sizes. They do have pull on stuff, as well as many of their waistbands have the button expanders (contractors) which really help with fit for slim ones.

I've also had good luck at Kohls. I recently bought my DD stuff at OskKosh but I think it all had snaps.

I would second the vote for Target. They tend to have leggings that run similar to Gymborees but for a fraction of the price. The summer shorts and capris are usually elastic waist and easy to get mix and match sets. The BOYS department is almost ALL athletic shorts that are elastic/tie string waists so if she's willing to wear those, that could be an easy fix.
