For any of you scouting moms or leaders out there:

Is there a special cord or any special insignia for girls involved in a flag ceremony?

You can buy a flag ceremony patch that goes on the back of the vest.
There is not anything special to wear during the ceremony.. other than their Scout uniform.

I thought I remembered we used to have something like that when I was in Girl Scouts--kindof a cord that went around your upper arm with something that attached to the shoulder?

I pulled some info off a Girl Scout webpage, for a New Jersey council. If you look at the Honor Guard in the definitions, it explains the red sashes. For the ones over your chest, it resembles something like a beauty pagent sash.

Check this website

Hope this helps. And, there is always the "flag ceremony" patch for their vests/sashes after they've aprticipated in a flag ceremony.
