GIMP help?

I just downloaded GIMP and was wondering if anyone who uses it has any suggestions on good tutorials to use?

My husband showed me a bit today (i made an anniversary mickey mouse head for my parents) but I figure he probably won't always appreciate showing me step by step every time I want to make something! TIA

I found alot of the tutorials on YouTube from JXTutorials really helpful
