WLL - I think SSR in and of itself is a great hidden gem. A lot of people dismiss it as being too spread out, too far from the parks, etc., but the 1st time we stayed there, we fell in love! We're DVC members there, and it has such a relaxed atmospehere - it is a wonderful respite from the crazied frenziness of other places on property. Of course, if you want action, just walk over or hop aboard the boat to DTD!

I'll second everyone's recommendations of the Turf Club and Artist's Palette. I really like both, and have not had a bad meal at either. Make sure you enjoy them, but be aware there is not a lot of standard "food court" fare at the AP, which some people don't like. I, however, find that refreshing. DH really likes their flatbreads, and I love the grilled chicken panini! YUM!

Yes, definitely check out Community Hall, which is to the left of the main pool at the Carriage House (near the bicycle rentals). There is a ton of stuff to do there. They will give you a list at check-in of all the things going on that week in/around the resort, and since Sunday is such a huge check-in day for DVC members, they usually have some sort of special welcoming activities going on, too.

I have only stayed in the Congress Park area (we love the views of DTD and the convenience to the walking path to the Marketplace). My 2nd choice would be the Grandstand as everyone else is recommending - that seems like a great location, too. And yes, all studios should have a balcony or patio.

Enjoy our home! :goodvibes

Thanks so much! I will admit, SSR has never really "caught my eye" becuase I, too, thought it seemed awfully spread out and too "condo" like. We stayed at OKW once and of course I liked it (because I truly just love being on WDW property) but I must admit, I like to walk thru a lobby when coming back to my resort for the night, and I do like interior corridors.

That said, I think I will like SSR better than OKW because of the access to DTD. I don't like coming back to my resort and feeling isolated, I want to know there are some activities just a stroll away.

Sounds like AP is like Mara at AKL. I *LOVED* Mara because of it's unique, non-food court-style offerings.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will be sure to post about my stay when I return.

Oh, and Disneybride, thanks so much for the additional photos. Why no photo of the pool bar??????:confused3

We absolutely LOVE  LOVE  LOVE Saratoga Springs Resort. We stayed in a Studio in the Springs section and it was awesome! :goodvibes That is right across from the main pool, restaurant, right by a bus stop, and so on. We cannot wait until we can afford a DVC membership!

I don't have any specific comments, but we've had a couple of very nice stays at SSR. We kinda like that it's just around the corner from DTD.:earsboy:

Where is the laundry room for the studios located? I love that OKW has one by each quiet pool. Hate that VWL and BCV only have one and there is nothing to do if you are waiting for a machine except sit and wait, or try back later.

To my knowledge, there is a laundry room near each quiet pool.

That is SO what I wanted to hear! :thumbsup2 We will be there May 7-10 after a road trip from OR to CA, 3 days at DL and then leaving on the 15 day WB Canal. I really will have to do laundry on Fri afternoon.

I always wonder what the parking situation is at a DVC, so I took a picture of the lot outside Grandstand last year. The Granstand building is on the left.

Thanks , clombardi! Now I can envision my chunky, bikini clad bottom plopped right on one of the barstools, ordering a MOJITO! I also appreciate a picture of the lot. It does help me to get orientated on "what is where".

Micca, kimsuenew and tinkaroo, thanks for your comments as well. I am starting to think 2 nights will just NOT be enough!

MrsMork-Have a great trip!

Try this link http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/saratoga.jpg. It should help you get the lay of the land.

Most people seem to prefer either the Grandstand or Congress Park, though the Springs is popular, too. Keep in mind that you can take another route to DTD via a path/bridge, which is close to the Grandstand section.

In my opinion, SSR is a wonderful, stand alone resort. It is peaceful, quiet, and well-kept. I hate to over-sell it, but my family loves it there. In fact, I recently offered to purchase an add-on contract and any DVC resort of my wife's choosing, and she chose SSR. When asked why she chose SSR over the others she said, simply, "It's the resort I like best".

Best of luck with your trip!

Thanks for the map, it did help! I am impressed your DW loves it so much. I am *so* looking forward to this trip!

How's the Disney transportation to/from SSR? Will I want a car? I realize that's a relative question. We've stayed at BWV and skipping the car was fine with me. I didnt mind walking to MGM from there either. When we were at the Pop, I would have died without the car. The lines for the bus were awful! So, hows it at SSR?

We thought it was perfect. :goodvibes It is not shared and buses come regularly. You can either take a bus or the boat to DTD from SSR. We did drive down from Ohio, so we had a car, but really only used it when we went to AKL to eat at Boma's and the Poly to eat. We took the buses to and from the parks.

The laundry room at the Grandstand pool is very nice, which may sound like a strange thing to say :upsidedow There is a TV and bench in there, or do like I did last summer, go sit by the pool and read while the laundry runs :laundy:

This is what I have done at OKW, but at VWL and BCV the ONE laundry room is in a hallway, no place to wait, no nice pool to sit by.
