I know there's been a thread on this before, but I can't find it. I am going out today to buy Target giftcards for my DD's teachers. There are 4 of them; is $25.00 each enough?

I want my teachers happy; they take care of my DD! (And they are really good too!)

Thats plenty. Some give more, some give less. My DS has so many teachers (just graduated to the young toddlers class and I wanted to thank his infant teachers as well as his new ones) that we couldnt afford individual gifts. We gave the teachers a Dominos pizza party. 5 pizzas, 3 2-liters, holiday plates and napkins. It cost us around $35 total. We also gave one of the infant teachers an additional $10 gift card to Burger king. She gets DS in the morning until his toddler teacher arrives. She just loves on him so much. If his hair is flat from his hat she fixes it, she even brought him a biscuit on his birthday. We spent less than a lot of people on these boards but I think the teachers really enjoyed it.

That sound very generous since there is four of them. My wife has got much more than that, but there is only her. Usually Disney items since they have seen the house.

My kids DD4 and DS6 go to a home daycare. She is really great with the kids and really helps us out alot. She drives DD4 to pre-school on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays and picks her up from there when she done. She also takes DD to speech class every Tuesday. So, from the kids I got her a $50 gift card from Outback Steakhouse and from my DH and I - we got her a $100 gift from Spalon Montage.

Wow!! What a lucky provider! I do at home daycare too, (dh is home on mon. with me) and we also drive kids to preschool. I have all ages from infant to 5 yrs old, so taking those kids to school/preschool is a chore!! The kids i care for i've had since most of them were infants.... i love them dearly, even though sometimes i've had enough!! This year i got 3 presents...one was a cute little ornament that said #1 babysitter; one was a cute shirt with #1 daycare provider on it; and then from one family i got....a box of choco. covered cherries....which dh likes. When i told the family thanks for the candy...she said oh no problem...we didn't know what we would do with them at home, so i hoped you would like them!! JEEZ!!! i mean, at least pretend you went out to buy them for us!!! There is 4 or 5 other families i haven't even heard from...still waiting on 2 of them to pay up for the month!! I don't mean to sound ungrateful, cuz normally i'm not...but it kinda hurts my feelings when parents bring their kids to me for years, and then not even a simple thank you! What really gets me is when i take them to school, and on the last day, all the kids come in with packages for their preschool/school teacher...and the parents tell me to make sure they give them to the right teacher!!( most of the kids have more than one teacher). Come on already!! I don't even get a simple thank you??
Ok, sorry i turned into a vent....just wanted to let you know that i think if you show acknowledgement or say a simple thank you and give a hug, your provider is going to appreciate it!! We just like to hear that you appreciate what we do for your kids....any gifts on top of that is the icing on the cake for us!!

I think that is an awesome gift. I used to teach in a daycare center and really appreciated gift cards. They dont' make very much money (at least here they don't)so that can go a long way to help their budget.

I've done home daycare for years and I've gotten a variety of things from parents. Some quite generous, some not so much. Now I only do very part time before/after school daycare and one of the families I've had for about 8-9 years (first their older son, then him and his sister when she went to kindergarten and now just the sister) and one year she stopped at Safeway and got a loaf of french bread and a container of clementines. Not meaning to be ungrateful, but I thought it was very cheap. Not as boad as the choco covered cherries, though. ;) At the time the girl required a lot of my time, with me working one on one with her every afternoon trying to help her with her schoolwork/homework and I really felt that I was going beyond what is normally expected of a before/after school daycare operator.

I think it's generous what some of the parents on this thread are doing for their providers. I know that it means a lot to them to be noticed and appreciated.
