I'm trying to think what "I" can get my DH from my 2yr old and 3mth old. I would like it to be something he could keep forever. I thought of making a picture with my youngest feet in a shape of a heart and then put a handprint of my oldest dd. However, he can't show this off. He likes showing off what the girls did. Then I thought of putting it on a shirt, but don't know if that would be too much of a hassle. What does everyone else do? thanks

Can you do a cute picture of them on a mug? I think I have also seen where you can put a picture in a watch.

When my kids were small, I purchased several "Daddy" books, and had the kids give them to him. He then read the books to the kids before bed. If you go on amazon.com and select books as your category and search "daddy" several ideas for books come up. My kids (9 and 11) still have them, so it might not be so much for your DH, but for your kids as a keepsake.

When mine were little I bought a t-shirt kit, that said Best Dad Hands Down, and it came with paint for hand prints. My dd was a baby, so I did her feet and her brothers hands, it was very cute!

Get a plain color sweatshirt and put the kids footprints on it with fabric paint with the caption My Kids Walk All Over Me!

Maybe you could have your 2 year old paint and then glue stuff to the outside of a frame, and place a print of the baby's feet inside it.

There are non toxic metallic paints that make a very grand print for inside an embellished frame!:hippie:

I also did the hands down shirt, unfortunately he never wears it. One year I got him a dog tag made at the mall with my DD's pic (When I only had 1). He absolutely loved it!!! He would where it all the time until one day he used it to move us and the the moisture from his body wiped the pic off the dog tag. I'm considering going to look for one of those shops again this year at the mall to get one with both of my DD's pic.
At camp this summer, my daughter also decorated a cheap dollar store clear plastic frame, with buttons, gem stones and confetti along the border. She decided to give it to me and I absolutely love it!! I put a pic of me and her in it. Maybe you can help them decorate one then put a pic of them with their daddy in it.
Good luck.

You can have the dog tags made from online photo places- I know artscow.com has them.

=) I just ordered a dog tag. Not with pics but with their names. I figured that he can wear and show off. Then I am going to make a picture like I said earlier. with my lil ones feet in a heart and older one's hands (if she'll let me) haha Then buy a frame, maybe I'll have her decorate it. Yea!! :cool1:

Where did you order the dog tag from????

When my son was in preschool, his teachers bought white silk ties and had the kids paint them. They turned out beautifully. The children were allowed to choose 3 colors and paint with each color only once unless they just put a spot on. That tie is my husband's favorite. It's actually really nice, contemporary and a conversation piece. They used acryllic paints.

We've been doing some 4" white tiles every year at the pottery painting place, with the idea that we'll use them the next time we remodel a bathroom; it's fun to have them through the years. We try to stay in the same general color family.

I made my husband a photobook with our baby's birth and first 2 months in it, as his gift from the baby. I would like to make one from the older girls, too.

If mugs don't work, then perhaps a painted plate from the kids, or Christmas ornaments, or a frame they paint? I'd prefer that to something like a t-shirt, just because it'll last longer.

Finally, stepping stones are easy and great and lots of fun! We found directions online, used the plastic saucers that go under house plants, and the kids put their handprints, shells, sea glass, etc in a pretty pattern, and we drew in their name and the date. Great if you have a place for them; useful and can last forever (it's nice to get something that will actually get used, IMHO).

One year, we went to WDW, and I got a super cute photo (lucky, I'm not the best at taking them) of our kids in matching Gymboree clothes (she was wearing a sundress, and he was in a shirt that matched).

Costco photo center does some cute things, and I got two photo ornaments made. They were really nice white ceramic or porcelain. They are reasonably priced, and I actually got them for my kids to have when they grow up. But I really recommend Costco photo center for gifts: it's quick to upload a photo, and you can make an ornament, a notepad, or even a mousepad! I think dad's like it, and granparents too!

I went to Vistaprint.com had made a coffee mug, tee, & Mouse pad with my DD's picture on it for my DH.... :) and best of all the products were FREE just had to pay for shipping!!!! I used pictures I know my hubby loves (my DD with her bow and on the 4 wheeler)

It looks like you are learning towards handmade gifts but I always take my kids to the dollar store and let them pick out something for Dad. It's funny to see what they pick. I always ask why they chose that gift and write down in a card what they say.

I forgot about vistaprint! I've used them for a few things, and they are good! I'd check out them for sure!!!!
