Myself and several family members are going to WDW in November. A woman I work with, who goes to WDW twice a year, brings a small gift to give to the CM at check-in at the Disney hotel (i.e. a box of chocolates). I am thinking of doing the same thing. I am not looking for an upgrade but I would like to get off on the right foot. I just want to make this a nice trip for my family and not run into any issues. Is this type of gesture "a little out of line"? Thanks.

I've given gifts, but consider them a thank you for services provided not anticipated. Beyond checking you in, I'm not sure how giving this particular CM a gift would ensure that you don't run into any issues. Probably just my nature, but by giving something ahead of time, it's almost like you are expecting something in return. Sort of like slipping the restaurant host or hostess a $20 bill to get a better table.

Maybe you want to take a look at this site, http://www.tagrel.com/. There is a section called "cast member appreciation cards" and they are available for anyone to use. You simply download and modify them as needed. I think this is an excellent and probably more appropriate way to show your appreciation for receiving exceptional service.

Due to your friends frequent visits to Disney, perhaps she has established a close relationship with certain CM's. This could be the reason why she brings a gift with her.
