i heard of other people giving little gifts to the CMs who've helped them out or been nice to them and i thought this was a really neat idea. i like the idea of paying it forward, and working in customer services at a theme park i know how hard it is sometimes to keep a smile on your face.
ive just bought some cellophane bags and some pretty ribbon from ebay. i'm thinking of buying a tin of roses and/or quality street or something similar and filling them with choccies (that way they dont take up too much room for me or the CM). has anyone else done this before? anyone got any ideas of alternative things to put in them? (ive heard people on the US community board say they've put things from their home state in them, like little things of maple candy etc... but not sure what i can get from essex!!!)
i just like the idea (especially for non-tipped CMs) of thanking the CM with a little pressie.

I don't know how true this is(i read it on the US boards)but CM'S are not allowed to accept anything from visitors. From what i read some do.I remember also reading about a lady who baked some cookies+wrapped them+took them with her to the parks+when she thought a CM deserved this treat she offered it.The CM told her-in a nice way-that they can't+don't accept food as it could have been poisioned/tampered with.
I think that's a lovely gesture of you,but it would be a shame if you went to all that trouble, only for it to be declined.Mabe post over on the US boards+see what they say. There are an awful lot of CM's over on the US baords who may be able to help you better.x.

yeah suppose in this day and age it'd be worrying to accept food, but if theyre individually wrapped sweets guess thats kinda better. its mainly the cruise board that's given me this idea, it seems people on there do this all the time

Yes i understand it being better if they are pre wrapped-as that's how you would have bought them.I suppose it get's complicated if someone may have a nut allergy or other problems. It's a shame when you want to do a nice gesture for someone. But like i said i would post over there as well.I reckon you would get a great response :thumbsup2 .x.

When we went at Christmas I took a small gift to give on Xmas day to our server at CG. It was so hard to find something made in England! Eventually found a small china cup with a Yorkshire scene on - I think she was really surprised & pleased that we gave her something.

when we were over there for our wedding, we gave our top tier of our wedding cake to the reception staff at the POR. ive never seen so many people flock so quickly over a cake! they were so happy that someone had given them something!

Just remember chocolate may melt - this was spoke about not too long ago og the DIS Unplugged podcast as someone else asked a similar question but bot sure what was suggested - they didn't think food was a good idea.

If a CM really goes out of the way for you they said go to Guest Relations and tell them - they may get rewarded that way.

Will come back to you if I have any ideas :)

I plan on doing the same thing and was thinking of getting lapel pin badges of the St Andrews flag.

They're not cheap but it will be worth it, I want to pay it forward too :thumbsup2

That's a really nice idea but be careful because some non tipped CMs (like me) are not allowed to accept gifts. If it is forced upon us, we must donate it to charity. If we keep it, we will be fired. So its worth checking with their managers before you give it to them. The best thing you could do is to write a letter praising their service.

How thoughtful :thumbsup2 .x.

It's a shame but i thought this may have been the case.x.

If you go to Guest Services on leaving the park (or at any time) you can give them a note of the CMs name & location and what they did that and that gets given to their manager the next day and they get a praise reward for it - way it was explained to us was that after so many praise rewards they (which is a mention and round of applause at their daily meetings) they get an actual reward so it's definately worth doing.

We did it for 2 MGM CMs last year and even the CMs at Guest Services were really pleased that we took the time to mention it and assured us that the comments do get passed on!

I always take a bunch of my handmade glass mickey head beads (about 1/2 inch diameter) and have had no problem with them not being able to accept them. They usually have to look twice to see what it is, but then are really pleased.

I'd go with something small/unobtrusive, non edible and if possible UK related. I like the lapel pin idea! Maybe small magnets? Remember a CM might still have to work for 6-8 hours, they don't want to have anything to carry around.

On the podcast discussion there was also mention of printing out little cards with a nice thank you on them, maybe with a photo of your home town?
