Can a person book a trip and not actually go ??

Can my MIL book and pay for the trip for our family but not go or does it have to be in either my husbands or my name ?

I suggested giving us the cost in gift cards but she would like to be able to pay on it. I have also put the ressie in my name can it be changed to hers ? or can I add my inlaws if they decide to go at anytime ( if the rooms are avialable

The lead name on the reservation must be going to Disney. Why can't she (or you) book it under your or your husband's name and still pay on it? Yes, you can book a room for your in-laws at any time based on availability as a separate reservation. I guess I'm confused as to why you would want the reservation changed from your name to your mother-in-law's.

I book trips for my kids all the time. I put the trips in their name and make payments each month.

As a pp said, anyone can pay for the trip, so book everything under your family and have your MIL make the payments ;).

I booked a package, paid the deposit on my credit card, then paid off a trip in gift cards and the whole thing was in someone elses name. They're going to WDW the same time as us and didn't want to deal with ANYTHING so I did it all (including ADR's with no problems.

I actually logged on my sister's disney account last christmas, put my debit card info in, and paid a nice chunk on her vacation. Then we just put her debit info back in and no problem.

Really , anybody can pay on a package when booked.
