Hi there,
We head off on Sunday next week and have been thinking of ways to entertain DS3 on the flight. A neighbour suggested gift wrapping the toys and books that we are taking on the flight so that he not only gets some new toys etc to play with but has fun in unwrapping them too.

Sounds like a great plan, but I'm just wondering if it could get us into difficulty when going through security leaving the UK. Obviously it won't matter when going through the x-ray scanners as the contents will show clearly through the wrapping, but what about any spot checks where security check the bag? Would they want us to unwrap stuff? Guess I'll need to carry it as DH always seems to get chosen for the spot checks:confused3

Anyone carried wrapped stuff through customs, with or without success?

Thanks:goodvibes

Whilst I can't see why they would be a problem through the scanners, many airline and airport websites specifically say that you should not wrap anything. How about gift bags? Would that work?

I have taken wrapped presents for DD and had no problems.

Had they wanted to I could/would have unwrapped them for security as the wrapping wasn't essential.

Hi there,
Thanks so much for that... hadn't thought of it being listed on a website... If they say not to do it, then I won't. Not a big deal... just thought it would be fun!

Elise, only just seen your post... maybe I'll wrap 1 or 2 and see what happens - it wouldn't matter if I had to unwrap them, would just be a bit of a time waster...
