I need help on thinking of places to register for wedding gifts. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Macys, Bed Bath and Beyond, Pottery Barn, Target

I personally think Bed Bath & Beyond has the best registry policies and selection/range. I would recomend choosing a dept store like Macy's or JC Penney's, etc. I chose Target to be able to register for things like electronics, camp gear, and stuff but now have heard they have the worst return policy. Some people like to register at an upscale kitchen place like William & Sonoma and other like to register at non-traditional stores like Home Depot and REI. So choose places that you like to shop at and have items that you would like. It is good to consider places that are in many locations and have online for guests to purchase that way. Maybe even register for honeymoon stuff too! Have fun!

William & Sonoma, that was the other place I was trying to think of!

Macys has a really great program with their wedding registry. You can register so that a small dollar portion of all the gifts that your guests buy from your registry can go to a charity. Also, if you have a Macy’s card, you can register so that you get a gift card for a percentage of the gifts people buy for you.... I probably didn't explain this very well, but I strongly suggest going to see someone at your local Macys and ask them about the benefits of registering!
HAVE FUN!

I registered at :

Target (no good!)

Bed Bath and Beyond (wonderful!)

Dillards (GREAT!)

Good luck trying to choose!! :)

I have heard nothing but bad reviews of Target's registry. They won't let you return anything without a receipt (so you have to ask the gift-giver for it - tacky!), they won't let you return multiples (you're out of luck if two people buy you the same thing), and they only give store credt. Plus the actual registry computer system is a mess.

We did Macy's for our china
Bed Bath & Beyond for everyday stuff (and cuz they give cash back w/o a receipt!)
Crate & Barrel
Disney Honeymoon Registry - so far, it's the most popular!

We registered at Target and we are LOVING it!!! Our wedding is 1-5-08 and our First (1 of 4) shower is this coming Saturday and I look forward to seeing TARGET GIFTS!!! I love that you can shop each room by color!! It really helps ALOT. The only downside to this registry is that as soon as a guest buys you a gift, that item automatically says (fulfilled) on your registry, so you kinda know what you are getting before you get it. But there's still the surprise to see it in person and know who got you what. We are doing red for our kitchen and target has EVERY appliance in red. I LOVE THAT!!!!

HAVE FUN!

I hate to see all the bad reviews a/b the target registry.... So far we haven't had any problems and were told we could return w/o a receipt... OH WELL... I won't mind store credit at all b/c i LOVE target... My vote is still for target :thumbsup2

I have heard fantastic things about Bed Bath & Beyond and plan on using them myself. Macy's and JcPenny are also good places to register. You might also want to think about Disney's Honeymoon registry if you are doing a Disneymoon.

Here is the deal with Target (a friend of mine registered there and had nothing but problems). You can only return 2 things without a receipt per year. And regardless of receipt you will only get the lowest price the item has ever been at. Say someone spends $100 on a kitchen appliance and then before your wedding Target clears them out all the way down to $30. When you go to return it you will only get $30 store credit for what someone paid $100 on. And if you get a check out person who doesn't know how the registry works your items may not get removed and it only updates once every 24 hours -- not instantly. Meaning that week before your shower say someone goes shopping at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and buys you a blender. That won't update until Thursday. So person #2 goes in at 1 and buys you the same blender. And then person #3 goes in at 6 and buys you the same blender. You now have 3 of 1 blender (happened to my friend) and, oh yeah, even with receipts Target will only let you return 1 blender. So now you're stuck with 2 blenders. I don't know anyone who was really happpy with Target. Some encountered minimum problems but most were so mad (and that's wedding registeries, baby regesteries, etc.).

I had my first of 4 wedding showers today and thought I would post on my findings. We had a couple's shower and ended up with about 15 items from our Target registry. All items included a gift receipt. After our guests left we opened up all the packages our items came in. All items were in tact and perfectly packaged. No glasses or dishes were damaged or broken in any way. Each item looked like great quality and was exactly what i was expecting. Hopefully target will continue to please me.

:thumbsup2
