Gift Ideas

If this is posted in the wrong forum please move it. I am placing it here because I am looking for input from families affected with people with disabilities. My youngest daughter is special needs, so I have a heart for people dealing with diffrent struggles.

I just found out today that my daughters bus driver has an adult child who needs 24. Hour care due to a tumor that grew in the middle of her brain and her husband has cancer.

I would really like to do something just to show how appreciated she is and a lift me up. There are certainly times I wish someone would do that for me and my family. The only problem is I can not think if anything. Any suggestions?

I can see them struggling with money and I would think a gift card ( pr a visa gift card ) where they can put it towards some bills

I was going to say a restaurant gift card for an when they need a dinner out.

We had some friends who went thru a tough time and we would periodically give them gift cards for gas and restaurants. There were so many doctor appointments and sometimes they didn't get home until dinnertime after treatments. They were so very thankful. Eventually it reached the point where we set up a meal donation site, where those who wanted to help could "sign up" to bring a meal (they would pick the date and time when they signed up). This may be something you could look into at some point - it is a great way for the community to help out. Some people would sign up to cook and others would sign up and send something over from local restaurants. It was so helpful to them!

One of the gifts that has helped us the most is dvds. If you know what type of movies they like, or tv series, giving them something to help take their minds off of their problems might help! We often can't go out, so having something to do at home helps.
My dh often can't eat, eats very little, or wants a very particular food, due to chemo, so I've turned down people asking to bring food.
Also help with yard work is something we are very grateful for!
